Everything is finished but his History. I'm going to try and finish up most of it I can tonight, but it's going to be hard. I'm so tired. Haha. Maybe some Ice cream will do the trick! Mmm... Caramel Moosetracks.

Character created based on 'Twisted Redux' Roleplay.

Name: Roger Michaels

Species: Human

Gender: Male

Age: 86

Mental Illness: Dementia, Metaphysical Solipsism: This means that he does not believe that anything truly exist outside of his own thoughts. He believes everything in reality is truly just his thoughts creating events. Topped with Dementia, he doesn't really understand from one moment to the next what he is doing, and remains inside his own self, not aware of what he is doing on the outside.

Appearance: Roger is an aged decrepit old man, with gritty nasty teeth that look as if they hadn't been brushed in ages. His thin stringy white hair is usually a mess, and sits at a medium length around the back and sides of his head. The front and top have balded. Age spots and wrinkles litter his pale skin. His eyes are deep set and green. However, he rarely can be seen staring at anything in particular, as he often looks very blank, as if he is staring off into nothing. He oddly enough, usually has a crooked smile as he stares at the floor from his wheelchair.

His movements are very scarce, and often only shivers or episodes of realization, before sinking back into his seemingly comatose like state. He is rather scrawny in size, and has a stature of no more than five feet tall. Large, thick glasses adorn his face. They are a simple metallic color, and very old. As Roger seldom actually uses them, they sit on his thin flat nose, collecting dust until someone is usually kind enough to wipe them for him.

History: Roger Michaels was born in 1920, in a small home of Washburn, Connecticut. He was the youngest son of 4 boys: Tom, Elmer, Jerry, and Roger. He grew up normal, for any boy growing up in that time period, though he was a bit more daring than his older brothers. He often played practical jokes that would get him in trouble and get in a furious game of Daring one another into doing crazy stuff. He in no way let his age hold him back in participating in the same things his brothers did.

As a young man, Roger, along with many men of those times fell into the war. Roger signed up right away. Elmer followed. The war was tough on Roger, losing many friends and even Family. Roger's mother Elsa passed away of breast cancer while he had been away, and Elmer was shot and killed in the line of duty. Jerry had become a drunk and was living with his oldest brother. Roger felt his family falling apart.

In 1941, Walt Disney released the film Dumbo. Roger was on momentary leave from the military and joined Jerry and Tom in watching the film. He could never quite explain it, but he instantly fell in love with it. Particularly the mouse. Afterwards, Roger found a fondness for cartoons and began creating his own drawings. This itself would get him through much of the war. His fellow soldiers all fell in love with his works and he would daily draw new strips.

In 1945, after the war, Roger met Colleen, who would become the love of his life. He eventually married her and had a son of his own. If that wasn't lucky enough, he landed a job in Walt Disney Studios, creating all sorts of characters. He also witnessed the rise of a cartoon he had written in the war based on his two brothers, Tom and Jerry, by another cartoonist who had taken it and made it famous. Life was good for Roger.

In 1950, Roger was called back to War. The war with Korea was raging on, and the U.S. began to secretly develop ways to stop the spread of communism. One of these was the testing of Super Soldiers. Roger was assigned to one of these testing facility. He didn't exactly like the idea, but he was eager as he usually was, and agreed to the adventure. The test came back negative again and again. Soon, the test however wore on Roger's mental state.

In 54', Roger's wife divorced him after his mental state began taking it's toll on his marriage. A year later, he lost his son in a car accident, and something strange began to happen. In his anguish, he had began to display reality altering abilities. It began with simple things, like water floating upwards from a glass and suddenly more powerful each time Roger displayed a strong emotional disturbance.

However, as Roger aged, it wasn't always this consistent. His powers began acting out on their own as roger's mental situation worsened, and he was clinically declared to have dementia. When his powers became too unstable, the Government took him him, watching him and testing as he aged. Soon, they could no longer control him. Something had to be done, and fast. Now, at 86 years old, Roger is emotionally and mentally void.. but he is there somewhere, because his powers still continue on... his personality showing in his shaping of reality.

Personality: Roger has always been adventurous and full of energy. This is represented in his creations that often take on his own thoughts and personalities. They will commonly consider even the smallest things an adventure. They are highly brave and do not fear much they are faced with. They prefer to act before they think but always appreciates good art and a laugh. Jokes are another strong aspect of Roger's personality and thus of his creations. Many of them will make small nonsensical comments that are often meant to be jokes, though they aren't always understood in the context of what is happening. Many of his characters will go out of their way for the sake of a funny joke.

On the slip side to this, there is the occasional creation that will take on a less humorous outlook. These creations will often be heavily depressed, tired consistently, and walk lazily. These are few and far in between, but usually happen when Roger himself has startled briefly out of his nearly comatose state as a result of his dementia, causing a mild realization of his state and thus forcing his creation into a somber perspective on things.

Roger himself is rarely fully conscious. His immediate thoughts are often empty and inconclusive. The few times that they aren't, he'll often seem very scared and unsure of himself, occasionally causing an uproar until he is forced to sleep. There are small occasions, in which he'll become partially conscious, but lack a grasp on reality and often envision himself in a certain period of his past. These moments will occasionally arise and recreate themselves. It is because of his Dementia and his abilities, that he slowly developed Solipsism, in that he has become unsure of what is real and what is his mind making up. He has almost completely come to the conclusion that it is all his own mind's doing and thus nothing else is real.

Sexual Orientation: HeteroSexual

Fears: Having grown accustomed to his own abilities, he fears true reality. He fears what he has become with age and letting go of his concept of reality. On a smaller scale, he fears lack of adventure and often his creations will present this by turning everything into some kind of adventure. His only fear other than this, is cats. It's more of a mild fear though, extending from his common external placement of his own personality in rats and mice.

Capabilities: Roger has the ability to shape reality with his thoughts. At one time, only being done sporadically or with a heightened sense of emotion, as he has aged, has become more consistent and uncontrollable. This is partially due to his Dementia.

Miscellaneous: Due to the Nature of his personality, and his abilities (Not to mention his prior career), he is often labeled as, "The Cartoonist"

OOC Notes:
  • Most of Roger's interactions with other characters will be through his creations, that will take on and represent his personality.

  • Due to Roger's severe ability to alter reality, I imagine the institute being able to suppress that for the most part, so that he can only make small changes, that are barely noticeable and impress his personality on things, taking an inanimate object or a small creature such as a mouse and turning it into a more humanoid type creature that can walk and talk.

  • Forgive me if there are any typos. Haha. I'll look over this in the morning, but for now, I'm wiped!

Thank you very much. Creating a cohesive character is usually my secondary goal, so I'm glad I pulled that off. :) My primary goal is always having a creative character, and I feel I pulled that off pretty well, as well. I think I'm happy with how he turned out.

@Ethan: I really enjoy that our characters are born only 10 years apart yet because Dante was sent to the institute through a time loop he remains at a younger age.

I also really like how Dante and Roger have an influence on reality. Where Roger more directly influences reality, Dante's powers of illusion affect what people think is reality. lol I think the two will get along nicely. You know, as long as Dante isn't having an episode. lol

This is going so beautifully! Again, I have a lot to read and respond to here! I also have a bit of IRL stuff I gotta get done today, but of course first thing on my plate was to check all mah threads while I has my morning coffee. These are all such good sheets, I don't how I'm gonna tell one of you that you can't play! XD

Ethan, I owe you a proper response to your CS, and Kiddo, I owe you a proper response to your plans for Kevin. I don't have time to do it right now though, I gotta get out of the house and get some stuff done. I hate to leave y'all hanging, but it will be this afteroon/evening before I get it written and posted.

Which brings me to one point. Kiddo, dedication isn't staying up all night long to finish your CS. (Although sometimes I get like that when I'm writing a really good post and don't want to stop my train of thought.) In my opinion, dedication is staying active in the OOC and posting regularly in the IC over the months and years of a long-term RP, even as others come and go. ;)

Catch you cats a little later on!

I appreciate your patience, guys. I got distracted by a barbecue and then caught up in writing what I had intended to be a short post for another RP I write for. (Spirited away by my muse, I suppose. XD) I have to get some laundry in the wash but then I'm gonna settle down and do this. Sorry for the delay... but it's the weekend and I'm totally in chill mode.

Easy there, guys. Don't explode your brains and take it down a notch with the off-topic stuff, please and thank you. Glad to see you're getting along so well, though. ;)

Okay, here it is; properly. XD

Ethan said I'll let my Character Sheet do the talking. ^-^

    A wise idea.

When I read the age and appearance on your character, it was like seeing a ghost. He reminds me of Kidney, which both horrifies and fascinates me. Kidney was the greatest antagonist ever to grace the pages of Twisted, just so you know.

The only issue I see with the CS is Roger’s ability to “distort reality”. To be able to actually distort the reality of the dimension is just too strong: coupled with his advanced dementia, he’d be housed downstairs. I have two suggestions for how to fix this. One: Roger is able to distort the perceived reality of one person, and only at a time when they are overcome with emotion. (Be it any emotion or a particular one like nostalgia or wistfulness.) Two: (I like this one better!) He carries with him a small, unassuming writing implement. Instead of drawing on paper, he can draw on the fabric of reality and send little cartoon animals, people, whatever, bouncing out of thin air. I would think he’d have to wear some kind of gloves to keep him from imbuing these creations with the strength and willpower to do any harm, and they might even break apart when touched or when bumping into something too roughly. (In my mind, I see fine-gauge titanium chains around Roger’s wrists, outside the gloves, making them impossible to take off… but the specific details are up to you.)

Or, if you have another idea for his powers, feel free to bounce it off me. I’m all ears! :)

The others are right, Roger is wonderful. It's the first time I've seen a super soldier done in a manner that didn't make him seem the sort to pull a Leroy Jenkins. Well done!

Kiddo, I’m super-cool with you playing his withdrawl symptoms as part of his arrival. Good to hear we’re on the same page.

I’m also with you on the source material: an OC in the borrowed setting. I have great respect for fanfic, so don’t be ashamed of your inspiration: some of that stuff is completely brilliant. Those writers just do it differently than we do, that’s all.

In regards to Kevin’s powers and his limiter, I’ll start with a quote from Wikipedia on electric shock.

The Wiki said The minimum current a human can feel depends on the current type (AC or DC) and frequency. A person can feel at least 1 mA (rms) of AC at 60 Hz, while at least 5 mA for DC. At around 10 milliamperes, AC current passing through the arm of a 68 kg (150 lb) human can cause powerful muscle contractions; the victim is unable to voluntarily control muscles and cannot release an electrified object. This is known as the "let go threshold" and is a criterion for shock hazard in electrical regulations.

That’s the limit of what Kevin can do, the "Let Go" threshold. I’m too lazy for much further research, but I’m going to say that’s also enough to blow out a light bulb, fry a television or a computer screen, and to be a literal pain in the ass. Here’s how the collar works: it’s a solid piece of metal (perhaps the metal from a Master Pokeball?), and doesn’t appear to have a seam. The Institute staff lasered away the fur beneath before attaching it, and it doesn’t ever move. (You can decide if it’s physically attached to him: I was thinking through a dermal piercing or a small wire that goes into his spine. But if that’s not cool with you, it doesn’t have to be. I’m just violent.) There’s a microchip situated directly over his spine that interrupts his neural impulses enough that he can’t use his psychic or electrical attacks very well. This is very similar to the chip implanted in my Cadie’s skull which keeps her telekinesis restrained.

Kiddo said I'd like, if possible, to be allowed to keep his energy power uninhibited.

Sorry. If you want him uninhibited you’ll have to change his power to something significantly weaker… like making him naturally the power level I described above. I would suggest you keep his power level and accept the collar. I think (considering the setting) I’ve described a very reasonable method of restraint.

I agree that his interactions with the other characters have great potential for hilarity, but you need to check the OOC first posts again. The Ragdoll belonged to one of our former players, and will be officially removed (much to Buck’s dismay) in my next post. The remaining PC’s are Pumirya’s Simone, El_Tigre’s Dante, Oblivion’s Anya, Katelyn’s Lia, and my own Cadence, Jax, Bernadette, and Nurse Buck. (Maybe Jean, but all the other nurses are NPCs.) Bernie does have a CS but it’s not finished so I haven’t added it to my gallery yet. Just one more thing on my long to-do list.

Nonsequitur, that’s beautiful. So Ryn was a bit of a bully and Bob was a bug. I’m satisfied, and thank you. :)

Amazing work, everyone! These are all brilliant, and I’m excited to see the characters in play. I’m curious as to whether or not you guys would like to do a simple character exercise for me, like a sample post or a day-in-the-life short story. It’s not mandatory or anything, just wondering.

I also realize it’s only been three days since the thread went up, and if I follow through with my full two weeks it’s still eleven days until the thread closes. Even though this is staying pretty active, we don’t seem to be getting much new interest. The IC is halfway through a post cycle tomorrow, which means I’m due to post again next Sunday, and if we can get all our sheets turned in by then the new recruits can jump in with the post cycle. (We’ll discuss the specifics later.)

In other words, I’m making the new deadline next Sunday, June 8th at Midnight. (The 8th going into the 9th.)

    Phones, you still with us?

    Now I seriously need a break. x.X

Hmm, I don't want to be argumentative with you, but I think that I probably didn't get across Victini's power correctly. It's not electricity based (there are electricity-based Pokemon and even legendary Pokemon, but Victini is not one of them). It's not particularly scientific, but let me see if I can explain it better, anyway:

    So, the source material says:
It produces an infinite amount of energy within itself and can share it with others by touch.

My interpretation is this: he can imbue potential energy into the cells/atoms of something that he touches or, when he's using it offensively, in his target (or radially as he's not very good at actually targeting things yet and tends to use it offensively only by accident). It's not electricity, as electricity is a specific form or energy and is largely (at least when talking in amps and what have you) not a potential form of energy: even potential electrical energy isn't usable by the body, which uses chemical energy instead of partial charges.

I tried to clarify this in his bio with my explanation of how this can be used offensively. Instead of shocking things or creating an electric field about him which does so, Kevin over-saturates the cells of those things within his sphere of influence with potential energy. This then has to go somewhere, so it turns into mechanical energy: at low levels, the inter-cellular friction causes increased temperatures but nothing much more, but when it gets worse, the cells literally start ripping apart due to this excess of energy. That's how it works offensively.

That's also why he can only interface with specific technology: if he were just a source of electrical power then it would just be a matter of finding his positive and negative poles as it were and connecting him to some circuit breakers xD

Alright, hopefully that explains it better. If so, I'll add something along those lines to the CS.

Your idea of a microchip does work for me, though. It could cause an interrupt in his powers through magical handwavy pseudo science and prevent him from being allowed to release too much energy. That's what I meant the Masterball to be able to do (effectively, though it would be manual and wouldn't really inhibit his power, instead preventing him from destroying things with it), so I'm totes cool with the idea if handwavy pseudo science is good enough ^.^

Oh, right: I'm alright with a writing assignment. I'm antsy to write more Kevin (as you can tell from my history section prolly xD)
