Would anyone be interested in an All My Children style role-playing game, with kidnapping, villains, heroes, earth quakes, back biting, bitches, cat fights, romance and all the rest that goes with that genre? It would be a bit over the top, to keep to the genre, with ever changing relationships and circumstances?

I am open to a setting. It could be a big hospital, or a small town, or Cape Cod, not that I know much about Cap Cod. We could discuss the setting. I personally would prefer a small, very rich, American town, but it could also be a struggling community. I was thinking vacation houses and golf courses, along side long term residents, who service their needs and get pushed out of the way by their new building projects.

Anyway, I am not sure if there is any interest in this, but I though I would give it a shot.

I am up for a Soap Opera roleplay.

Maybe we could make up a setting instead of choosing one?

I would be fine for making up a setting. I figured if it is a small town setting, i would have to do some work to introduce the town anyway. I am open to suggestions though. What had you in mind?

Sounds fun, like a comedy RP!
Melodramatic and the like. I'm already imagining rich, btichy suburban wives.

What era are you considering?

I was going to go with the modern era, but i am open to the 1980s, with big hair and big phones, or even the forties. Again, it is the soap opera feel that I really want to go for. I figure we need at least four or five interested parties to make a go of it. Possibly, I should have put it in general interest checks, rather than this more specific interest check. Anyway, if I get four or five people with their hands up, I will start an OOC thread.

Awesome, I'd love the 80s, 50s, or 40s.

The fifties would be interesting. Again, I figure that I will map out a setting and we will run with it. Something like Harper's Cove, a small New England town with summer houses for the outsiders. I am not going to bother figuring out a setting though, unless we get enough people interested. I am fine to write two or three characters, and men and well as women, but we can't pull off a soap opera without enough people. We'll have to wait and see if anyone else is interested.

We could even do 1 family, like everyone gets a family member, instead of neighbors. Room for family friends or extended family.

There could certainly be a central family, like in Dallas. I don't want to exclude people from playing whatever characters they wish though, as long as they follow the genre.

I didn't really have anything in mind, it was just a suggestion. Haha. :/

O.K., duly noted. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be enough interest in this idea to start it. I may try re-posting it in the main interest check area.

I don't know, I'd say if you really want to do a soap opera RP, you'd need either a whole slew of Importat NPC's or every player would need multiple characters. However, that said, I'm not very good with multiple char's.

Also, I think that it's worth noting that in almost all soap operas, from Dark Shadows to Passions, there is at least a touch of the supernatural.

I don't see anything wrong with a realistic-fiction, soap opera roleplay that is a bit comedic and dramatic, like those 90s shows. I wouldn't spin fantasy or supernatural into it, but that's just my preference.

I don't mind touches of the supernatural, but I don't wish for it to turn into True Blood. Mostly I want over the top, but realist action. There could be ghosts and such, but I don't want people turning in vampire characters. Anyway, as I said, I am going to move this thread to the more general section.
