@all The mage who is not riddled with taint may have sensed the radiation of magic emanating from the golem. I'll give you a chance to respond to it before I throw NPC mages or templar in his direction because it would be a good opportunity to start binding together PCs into something resembling a coherent group.

I purposefully separated Margot from the group. Like, extremely separated. So, I don't think she'd sense anything in the state of focus she's in with her kata right now.

Meditation does not necessarily dampen the senses. Even if it does, an explosion of raw magic and a shockwave traveling through the fade is not the kind of 'disturbance' your character could have anticipated. It's like if a tightrope walker suddenly got hit by a gale force wind out of no where. Your concentration had no reason to be prepared for such an event.

Honestly you could easily write it either way. One way does nothing to develop the plot and does nothing to bring the group together. The other does. To get the group together you always need to compromise a bit and try to make choices that connect the characters. It's just the nature of early game.

Getting the group together does sound fun. It may be an easier setting to get used to the writing style as well. :D

Right because you can get your character's internal state out there through dialogue and communication which leads to exponential complexity because instead of you just stating it, you now have feedback from other players which leads to more feedback and so on.

Early game is admittedly annoying because you are necessarily forced in your writing to form the group. This is why I had Duncan talk to Joras. It made a connection between characters (in addition to some juicy dramatic irony considering that character's personality).

His internal monologue would roughly translate to, "Please turn to Darkspawn, Please turn to Darkspawn, Please turn to Darkspawn!"

I'm kind of hoping at least one PC will respond to the giant golem hammering his fists into the earth and invoking a shockwave of creation magic. If I have to NPC it, it's just such a waste. I'll use Wynne, maybe, if no one responds.

Remember the whole idea of the Grey Wardens is that they do what works. Everyone else is caught up in culture and history, but the Wardens will do whatever they can that works. The rest of Ostagar see this golem as a menace, something to be feared, but the Wardens should see him as a tool, something which can be used against the Blight.

Which would make sense of them taking apostate mages and 'dangerous' criminals.

Both of those were references to the origins game.

Once PerniciousIntent posts I'll have mine up, and I'll see if I can steer my PC to the golem.

Actually, since she is in a place of zen and calm the slightest bit of energy change would make her lose her focas, I know this because I meditate myself and the slightest bit of energy change makes me in focas and I am taken out of my meditation.

@Pernicious Nice post

@automaton I can't tell Zordon his character must sense what happened because it borders on Godmoding. Part of my RP philosophy is never telling characters what to do. I can make suggestions and I did, but I refuse to even make a judgement if my suggestions aren't followed. That is just like passive aggressive Godmoding LOL.

@All Let me explain why I don't want to introduce some NPC mage to interact with the golem. The RP already contains a host of characters and NPCs and whoever responds to automaton's post will be in for a back&fourth of at least a couple posts. I can't take that much screen time and give it to a random NPC. So if no one responds I just have to let it go. Maybe I'll have everyone just clear out as if it was a really bad fart or something, but I can't devote time to random NPCs when we're trying to get the group together and move the story. Remember we haven't even done the joining for the recruits so we are still in the prologue.

@All There, I handled it using NPCs and without taking focus off PCs. Just be aware that though I can not Godmode, I can have an earthquake hurl your characters into a pile together if you guys keep insisting on avoiding contact XD

It's all good, steady pace in the IC is better than a rapid pace into a sudden burn out.
