So, is anyone here familiar with Risus? It's quite possibly the simplest RPG there is, with the shortest rules book to match. Naturally, it can be downloaded for free here: http://www222.pair.com/sjohn/downloads.htm#Risus

Would anyone be up for a quick game with that system to kick some extra life into this forum?

And if so, what are your preferences? Serious or less so? Science fiction, fantasy or post-apocalyptic? Dungeon-crawling adventures or urban noir or what have you? I can't promise that I can run absolutely anything (I doubt I can do modern stuff or full silly stuff too well), but if I had some idea of the local Risus-ites' preferences, I'm sure I could come up with a more specific pitch.

I want to learn more about this table top game, but I don't feel comfortable downloading something just to understand the game.

Can you simply give more details of what your preference is, because I'm guessing you have one.

But I will give you my preference, I'm big into fantasy and medieval. So anything with that kind of setting, timeline and stuff would be great.

I read the rules before, but I never actually played a game. Tentatively interested.

I'm not sure if I can handle Full Silly, sadly. On the other hand, it is true that a dark and serious game would be pretty off for this system.

Gareth, it's your prerogative, but it's just 6 pages. It's a very simple, very flexible system.

Is anyone here familiar with the North World webcomic? I advise you to track it down if you are. Some half-serious adventure fantasy+modern life setting in that vein might be a plausible option. Then again, the only preferences I heard so far are "fantasy" from Gareth and "silly" from Bunnita - if anyone else cares to weigh in, it would be appreciated.

I'll get back to you on the subject of dice and game mechanics later, if you don't mind. But yes, I was thinking of leaving the rolls up to the players. http://www.wizards.com/dnd/dice/dice.htm can be used for rolls. I trust people enough not to lie about their results here.
