[IC] The Doctor and the Guardian

When time and space began, there were many life forms that came to life as well. One of them were the Guardians. Super powered beings that job was to keep the world in order and peaceful. But during the time war the home Planet Helios was lost in time...and only a handful of Guardians, or Angels, were left. And the daughter of the one great guardian would soon find her path in time and space....

Avery hit the far wall hard, catching herself as a huge two headed alien walked towards her, grunting and muttering angrily. Avery cracked her neck, her bright auburn pixie hair moving from her face as she smiled at the beast. "I know, I know...you upset. But I won fair and square...your just going to have to live with that..." Suddenly her watch starting buzzing and a face appeared on the face, a fox human hybrid face looking at her. "Ave we got a....are you at the bar again?" Avery smiled and shrugged. "YOu know me, I get bored. What do you have for me?" He shook his head and said "I got a big one for ya...I sent you the info to your pad" The face vanished and Avery pulled a notebook sized pad from her bag, the alien talking to her in grunting and snorts. She looked at him and said "Oh get over it, I have a job" She looked at the info and her smile vanished when three words appeared.

The Oncoming Storm

Avery turned on her heel and headed for the door, putting a ear wig in her ear. "Give me everything. And get a teleport ready....my guess? Earth, where else?"

The Doctor had landed the TARDIS on Earth. It was true that he stopped off their a lot. Not just because of the rift in Cardiff but because he liked it. There was always something going on. But even when there wasn't the Doctor had always had his friends. This time though the Doctor was alone. He was miserable. He knew that he could visit Jack, but he knew the man was busy with Torchwood. The Doctor a lot of the time would smile and try to hide his pain. He was never really truely happy deep down but he did try, his friends were always the ones to make him feel better.

Leaning on the TARDIS, The Doctor felt rather tired, like he hadn't slept in days. He wasn't one to sleep much, but how he was feeling now wasn't normal. He looked around and wondered if there was something he could do to take his mind off the sleepiness that plagued his body. Having nobody to talk to was also starting to become rather tiring. He didn't know what to do either.

Avery appeared in a alleyway, looking ready for a fight. The face appeared on her watch again and said "Relax, Boss. I tracked his TARDIS here. You've dealt with Time Lords before, what's the big deal?" Avery walked into the main street of London and she said "Last time was during the war, Whix...I am not in the mood to deal with the big solider that ended the war...if his like them..." Whix sighed and said "Just keep him safe boss...don't let the past get to you" He hung up and Avery took a deep breathe. "Get a grip, Ave...Mom handled it, so can you..." She ended up in the park by the Big Eye. It was late so the street performers were packing up, so she walked around looking around. Then she spotted a man standing by what she had learned last time she had been to Earth was a police box. He didn't look too good and her Angel side kicked in and she walked over to him and stood by him, looking out at the river. "Lovely night, isn't it?"

The Doctor had changed so much since the war had ended. He had alot of regrets and had bad dreams. Also Rose had made him release he could be a better person. He looked at the sky and was thinking. He really missed Rose, But there was times he was so upset he wanted to cry. Most of the time he tried to hold it in. He looked around when he saw Avery, a big grin formed on his face.
"Hello," The Doctor was friendly, at least to people who were worth being nice to. The Doctor was always wiling to help and was always the one helping people. It was strange that he was to be the one in need of help.
Though the Doctor didn't realize that just yet. "Oh Yeah It is a nice night," He liked looked at the sky and the stars. Why am I so tired. He was thinking. It was horrible to be this tired, there was still so much he could do.

Avery looked at him and said "Your not looking to good, my friends. If you like, I can take a look at you and maybe help you out...I am trained in the healing arts." Avery always forgot how to talk on certain planets. The on earth, having powers like hers was not normal. But she had a job, and it made her feel a lot better helping someone then protecting someone who reminded her of her past.

The Doctor was looking at her "Oh? I am sure its nothing, probably just very tired. I am not one to sleep a lot." though the Doctor knew it was more than that, he was trying to keep her from worrying about him. He was always trying to stop people focusing on how he was a lot of the time. Though the Doctor stumbled and leaned on the TARDIS. He closed his eyes.
He felt a little dizzy, he wondered what was doing this to him. That seemed to be the only possibility when he didn't feel good.

Avery caught him, her eyes narrowing. "I doubt that..." She tapped her watch and said "Whix, I need a scan of my friend here...I know I'm on a job but I can't just ignore this" Whix appeared and said "Umm...boss? This guy has two hearts...what I'm picking up is that his second heart is being taxed. Which could be only a few things do that..." Avery frowned and said "Figures first guy I run into...alright fine." She had the Doctor sit down and she rested her hand on his chest. "Whix? Left or right?" "Left" "Thanks" She moved her hand to the left side of his chest and closed her eyes. "Just hang on, Mr. Oncoming Storm...you'll be better in no time..."

The Doctor gives her a wary smile, he could feel that one of his hearts was indeed struggling " The Doctor will do," he said in response to her calling him Mr Oncoming Storm. He wanted to lay down and was breathing heavily. "Wha....," he looked rather confused as he heard her speaking, he didn't know what was wrong with him. He had thought he was fine bar the tiredness, though it seemed now one his hearts were having trouble.
He whimpered in pain as he felt his left heart hurt "I Want to lay down."

Avery shook her head. "It will move too fast if you lay down. I have to corner whatever you got hit with....just stay right there..." Her hand glowed along with her eyes and she said "Got it...looks like someone got you will a Energy Worm...most likely to track you and to slow you down..." She pulled her hand slowly back and a black and green energy worm came with her hand, her eyes still glowing as she pulled it away from him and slipped the worm into a container in her bag. She looked at him, her eyes still glowing. "Better?"

The Doctor was looking at her. He blinked "I'm a bit better, But I do need to lay down, so tired from it all." He wanted to just curl up in his bed and get some rest. He wondered how had been after him.
"Question is who is after me?" He wondered if she knew. Had that been why she had come to him. He wasn't used to being the one to need help. He closed his eyes. The Doctor hated being tired.
He knew they needed to find who was after him.

She helped him up and said "You can do whatever you want...with who is after you, don't know yet. Where is your ship? I'll get you there and keep an eye on things" The glowing had faded and she was frowning again. She didn't want to have to stick with this Time Lord but it was her duty.

The Doctor was looking at her. "Shes just over there," He pointed to the TARDIS hidden in a small alley way. He looked at her "I have changed you know... I am not the same as I was during the war,"
He had a feelings she didn't really want to stick around him. The time lord knew he was different now. Rose had helped change that really, He was very tired and wanted to just get to his bed though.

She pulled his arm around her shoulders and went over to the box, opening the door and taking them both inside. She helped him to what she believed was his room and helped him lay down. She leaned against the wall and said "Get some sleep...I will make sure nothing goes wrong. I'll be upstairs if you need me" She started to leave, already feeling her strength drop. She hadn't healed like that in a long time, and it was taxing.

The Doctor walked slowly with her help, he collapsed to his bed, sighing with relief. It felt good to lay down when his body was so heavy and tired. He really needed to get some sleep.
"Yeah I am going to...," He trailed off not getting to say the rest of what he wanted to say which was thank you and that he wasn't used to people helping him. He curled up in his blankets and slept heavily.

Avery sighed and went upstairs, not looking for to the next few days. She went to the control room and leaned against the controls, sighing. "You can do this, Ave...a few days, figure out who wants him dead and get it taken care of...then back to my life without timelords..."

The Doctor slept rather deeply, he was asleep for longer then he normally did but had nightmares as he slept and tears fell down his cheeks. He was curled up in his blankets. When he awoke he sighing and not feeling like getting out of bed.
He wondered who wanted him dead. He could tell Avery didn't like him very much, He knew that was because of his kind. He wished he could make her see he was different now, even if he had been the one to end the war.

Avery was pacing in the control room, Whix talking to her. "He seems to be an alright guy...not like the guys you dealt with in the war..." Avery pulled out the container with the worm and said "My feelings don't matter, Whix. I just have to get the job done and..." Suddenly the container cracked and Ave said "Whix! The containment unit!" Whix cursed and said "It got too much energy from the Time Lord, its mutating" The worm burst out and hissed, now a bright yellow and sick green color. She threw the case from her and tried to get to her blaster but the worm was faster, jumping up and biting her in the neck. She cried out, hitting the floor and fighting to get the thing off of her. Her eyes glowed again and she grabbed the worm with her glowing hand. the worm screamed and exploded, guts all over the floor. Avery panted, not feeling right as the room spun and warped around her. "Whix...I think...I'm in trouble..." She hit the floor again, her back to the stairs

The time lord sat up. He heard noises coming from then console room. He wondered what was going on it didn't sound good. The Doctor had heard her cry out, even if he wasn't at his normal strength, he rushed out. "Whats going on?" He sounded worried. He didn't want anybody hurt. Seeing her on the floor he rushed over and pulled out his sonic. He used it to give her a medical scan.
"Are you alright? What happened?" his voice was gentle and full of concern. But he wanted to help. The Doctor knew she didn't seem trust him all that much. He was still weak. but he needed to fight it.
He had a feeling she must have been poisoned or harmed in some way.

Whix called from her wrist, trying to get her attention. "Boss? Boss!? You got to wake up! I ran a scan on your vitals, you got to wake up or you won't be able to! Boss! Avery!" Avery didn't move, the bite mark on her neck still bleeding and looking like something yellow was right under the skin

The Doctor curses in gallifreyian and then quickly rushes to the med bay for something. He seemed to know what he was doing, the time lord always did. But he fell over again on the way back muttering.
He had a vial of medicine in his hand and he hoped it would help her. He quickly injected it into her arm "Come on .. wake up," he urged her. He tried to wake her and hoped that he was able to help.
"I'm so sorry," He felt like it was his fault as he knew she was protecting him.
