Creepy shit

So most of my holidays from being little have been to the lake district camping. While there we generally buy our walking boots and trainers, usually from Keswick but this time from Ambleside. So we go into this store that's mostly shopfront and a guy starts helping my little sister try on shoes while talking to us. You can sort of tell there's something odd about him because my dad can talk for England and this guy talks so much he makes my dad quiet, but he's friendly enough. Amyway when ee tell him we're from Doncaster he tells us he spent sometime there, in prison. When we ask why he makes a joke about kidnapping little girls to my sister. Then he tells us that he did actually kidnap an underage girl, but didn't abuse, he was protecting her from her father who was abusing her and could cover it up as he was social services. After he got out of prison for it she was the only one waiting for him and she was old enough for them to marry. I checked it out in the news at home and sure enough he'd been done for kidnapping, couldn't be convicted of molestation. Not the scariest thing that ever happened to me but to this day I don't know what to make of it, maybe I jump to conclusions but it creeps me out with how differently the media portrayed it.
