The weather outside had turned from a light drizzle of the morning to the heavy pounding of the late afternoon. Anyone outside would find themselves either soaked in the rain or just stuck because of them mud. Jason sighed watching the weather outside and thought back to his home. He missed his friends, he missed knowing where to could go and knowing everything he had learned when he was a child. Now being thrown into a new culture and a way of life, Jason found himself trying his best to keep his head out of the water. Checking the time and sign sheet it seemed that Jason only had one more student to tutor: Alexander Wolfe.
The time read now as four thirty, it was pass the normal school hour but Jason had grown accustom to stay later than others. This was supposed to encourage the young man to explore but he usually ended up at the comic book store alone. The other kids in the school didn’t make the young man really feel comfortable so he usually just kept to himself and was usually alone. This tutoring deal was supposed to be helping Jason get friends, but it only seemed to help him be known as that “smart British kid”.

“Hmm… wonder where he could be. I thought he had to come.” Jason shrugged. Standing he fixed his glasses and started to pack up. This just meant he could go buy more comic books.

Alex walked in the door, soaked from head to toe. He took off his coat, shaking his hair a little to try and sort it into it's usual style. The rain was horrendous, he just wanted to get out of it, but it didn't help that the wind was pushing him back.

'Sorry I'm late, the wind and rain caused a few problems.' He said as he looked up. If he remembered correctly, this guys name was Jason. He looked ready to leave, evidently he didn't want to be here. 'Going somewhere nice?' He asked with a smirk. He wasn't entirely sure where to go from this point, he could offer to re-arrange, or he could stay here, but he wasn't sure if either would suit him. He couldn't be nice to this guy, but he couldn't exactly be seen studying voluntarily.

Jason looked up from his book bag to see a older man coming in. Blinking the young man shook his head "No... s-sorry, I thought you weren't coming..." he whispered softly as he laid his bag down. "Alexander, right? I'm Jason. You're here for...for English I believe." he whispered softly as he sat back down. His eyes stood down on his paper as he checked off Alex and took out his English book. With a small smile Jason smiled "Come sit. I can put on the heater if you need...?" he asked.

Turning on the heater, Jason returned to his seat and cleared his throat "So, what is it do you need help with Alexander?"

Alex watched as Jason did this, he seemed nervous, and shy. Alex mentally sighed. It was another one. He didn't want to have to bully this guy, in all honesty he seemed like a pretty good guy, it would just be a problem for his popularity if he didn't, though. That was the worst part, he had to choose between being a popular guy, or being a nice guy, and to be perfectly honest, popularity was addictive.

'How can you get through the books?' He asked. 'Believe me, I've tried to read these books were set, but they just put me to sleep.' He was actually being honest about that, most of the time when he tried to read the books that his English teacher set for the class, he'd literally fall asleep.

Shrugging the young man looked up and smiled softly "Well... I've always been around books since I was a child. I was sick when I was a toddler so for me, reading was the only way to escape boredom, just became my thing." he explained. Opening up the book he looked at the play that they would both have in their English class. "Lets get started on Hamlet. It isn't a story that is too long, in fact if I'm not mistake, The Lion King was slightly base off it."

Alex shrugged. 'I guess we should start somewhere. I don't wanna be wasting your time.' A hint of a smile played across his lips as he opened up his own copy of the book. He wasn't sure what he was doing, but he had a feeling that if anyone could help his grades, it would be this guy. If he got good grades, his mother might worry a little less, and that could be very useful. He wasn't sure why he thought this, but he just had a feeling that Jason could be very useful. He just didn't know what to do outside this room, when his friends would want to bully the new guy, make him feel small, and Alex would want nothing to do with it, or would want to stop them. Could he do that? Would he risk his popularity for the sake of this guy? Or was it not for this guy, but for his mother's sake? He would have to keep Jason from being bullied, to keep his grades up, and to keep his mother happy...

Nodding the teen scanned the first page before looking to Alex "You've read this right? I think we have the same teacher for English so hows about we start with what you understand about this play. Do you know one of the major conflicts of the play?" Jason asked as to figure out how far Alex had gotten into it. Jason knew the story front and back without a doubt of knowledge he had gain over the years of reading and re-reading this play. The young man always explained the major points first and then went down with the events affected them and how they were tied in, everything he said was in the most simply way that one could understand it without a problem.

Jason was a AP student so if anyone could get Alex in good grades, he could. "...And that's why he views his mother as a traitor as well. But during that time period he says that she is only a traitor because of her sex... So is there anything we need to readdress?" he asked looking up at Alex.

Alex smiled, he was finally understanding something that wasn't football or how to skip classes without getting caught. He was actually learning something. He might actually manage to achieve something this year after all. 'Surprisingly, no. I actually understood all that. I don't know how you did it, but you actually taught me something to do with Shakespeare.' He chuckled. 'Boy I never thought I'd say that.' He smiled at Jason. 'Any chance we could make this a more... long-term thing? I mean, I really could use your help.' He sighed. 'I'm hopeless at this stuff, but you seem to be able to help.' He gave him his best pleading smile. 'Please?'

Smiling the young man felt proud of himself "Thats great. See it isn't that hard to understand." he told the student. Blushing a bit, Jason nod as he flipped the page "S-sure. I don't have much to do anyway. Hows about we do it three times a week at this time? Maybe a hour two of studying and then longer if you feel you need it. I ... I also tutor in other areas if you need it in other classes..." he explained softly. Taking off his glasses the young man stood and poured them some hot chocolate, a teacher had been kind enough to leave a teapot with fresh water and a few packs of hot chocolate mix for the new student, handing Alex a mug the other male returned to his seat "So lets start with the next part of the play... this should go by quick." he smiled happily. Jason felt a bit better, now feeling like he could make it at this school.

Alex looked at Jason with a sudden seriousness. 'Actually, before we do, can we talk about something different. Something to do with the school's... social groups?' He asked. This was when he was going to warn Jason about the problems he might face, the issues that might arise with his tutoring, and his grades in general. It was evident that Jason wasn't very outgoing, and it was doubtful that he would ever become popular, the best Alex could do was try and keep him unnoticed, and that was what he was determined to do.

"Um, sure I guess." Jason said softly as he returned to his seat. When the talk came, Jason listened closely and it didn't seem to upset him at all from what he was told. To Jason it was a normal thing, something had even done a few times at his old home. Maybe not to the extent that Alex wanted, but he would try his best not to be seen or thought of.

Alex looked at Jason after warning him. 'I want you to know, Jason, that if they do try anything, I will do my best to keep you safe. Don't ask me why, because I don't know. Never once have I wanted to keep someone out of the eyes of my group, but you're... different.' He smiled. 'In a good way, honestly.' He chuckled. 'You seem like a good guy, and I'd like to get to know you.'

Smiling Jason nod "No problem Alex. Besides I don't like being in the anyone's radar. Shouldn't be too hard... I think you forgot I was in your math class... and I sit in front of you..." he said softly. Blushing Jason tried shaking it off before pulling out his cell phone and offering it to the bigger male "Here, put your number in it and I'll put mine in yours. So if you ever need extra help and its after we've done our tutoring you can call or text me and I can help you over the phone."

Alex nodded and handed his phone over to Jason. He tapped his number in quickly and handed it back. He was still having a hard time making his decision on what to do about Jason. He had noticed that Jason sat in front of him in his math class, he didn't say anything because he didn't feel the need to. Now he wanted to put effort into protecting him, but could he do that without losing his popularity? He wasn't so sure about that.

Typing in his number quickly, Jason smiled returning it and took his cell back. Fixing his glasses the younger man offered his hand "Well this has been a good study section. We'll again when you want to, just call or text if you need anything." he smiled as he stood up. Jason truthfully was having fun but he knew a guy like Alex probably had places too go. Friends to meet up with. "You don't have to worry about me Alex," Jason began as he looked down at the older boy "I've always been under the radar and no one really notices me. You don't have to worry."

Alex smiled. 'You're new here. You will be noticed. Trust me.' He stood up and shook his hand. 'But I'll have your back. I promise.' He added as he stopped shaking his hand. He didn't remove it immediately though, until he realised he was basically just holding hands with this guy. Then his hand dropped to his side and he shrugged. 'I guess I'll see you around then, until our next study session that is.' He smiled and turned to the door. 'Unless you have anything on your mind that is?' He half asked, half stated as his hand hovered over the door handle.

Jason nod and smiled "Thank you ... really. If you every need help other than your studies I'll gladly help." he said happily. Notice that Alex was holding his hand, Jason was confused before he let. "I guess so... see you in math as well." he reminded the male. Collecting his things Jason jumped, he thought Alex had already left "...Anything else? ... No... no ... besides I'm sure you have your friends waiting for you right?"

Alex chuckled. 'Even if I did, I don't think they'd miss me too much. Believe it or not, I'm generally quite boring at parties and such. I just enjoy the atmosphere.' He smiled at Jason. 'Anyway, I guess I'll see you in math.' He opened the door and walked out of the room. What was happening to him? He didn't know how to act around Jason. He was actually getting self-conscious. That was new...

Laughing softly, the student grinned "Really? I must say I am surprise. I would have expected you to have all the gals hanging off you." he joked around. Through expected the other to have that experience often. "I guess, see you soon." he replied before collecting all his things. Heading out to his own car, the young man turned on the radio and tried listening to the local music before putting in his CD and driving on home. He needed to work on a project so today there would be no comic books.

Alex chuckled when Jason had mentioned about girls hanging off him. How little he knew. He jumped into his car, and when he was sure Jason had left, he rested his head on the steering wheel. The sound of his car horn echoed around the parking lot. He picked his head back up and started his car. He couldn't believe he was starting to feel these things for a guy like Jason. They were exact opposites, but there was only so much he could do. He couldn't exactly publicly announce that he wanted everyone to leave the new shy guy alone. He'd end up being chased out of parties if he did that.
