As for the beginning of the RP, I'm thinking that rather than instantly be in the middle of New Orleans itself, we should meet up in the town of Slidell, which is just to the north-east across the lake. This means we can play out moving into the city itself, as well as deciding what route we'd take into the city (bridge, boat, etc). You can take a look at Slidell on Google Maps, it seems like an interesting suburban setting, and there's some canals and things around too for extra fun.

When you say "meet up" do you mean we just all come across each other or it was some sort of planned meeting? From what gather, the beginning would be the formation of the group of survivors, right?

I mean that events shall unfold which will lead to our characters bumping into each other in Slidell. For the most part, it seems like many of us are travelling alone at the moment and obviously the point of the RP is that it follows a group of survivors, not just a load of individuals doing their own thing.

Should we start in one or two small groups of survivors and then bump into each other causing... *dramatic pause*... the merge? I think that'd make it seem like less of a coincidence that a bunch of separate individuals all gathered at one place at the same time and became a pack. When you say "events shall unfold" do you mean that the RP will kick off with something like the survivors trapped together in a building by walkers?

Coincidence is more likely than you think.

I don't have a problem with coincidence. I just think that'd it'd be cooler if the group formed some other way under different circumstances. I'm not bashing on the RP or anything, I love the concept. I think it's an awesome idea, I just thought I'd give suggestions on how the RP would start.

I agree, Note, and to be honest I haven't decided how I'm going to start things off yet. I don't like the idea of just starting off with everyone huddled in a room, having never met each other before, that was just something I put in my blurb at the top of the OOC because I couldn't think of anything better at the time. I was thinking, as you suggested, that before the group forms into one big whole we could meet up individually and merge into two or three smaller groups which eventually meet up. Depending on who ends up accepted to the RP, my character Marcus could easily bump into Twix, Lee or Leon wandering the streets, or strike up a conversation with Jack about the baseball cap he's wearing. It's all things to start thinking about.

I'm all for the characters bumping into each other after coming from different backgrounds.

I trust your creative instinct, Sarge. I'm excited to see how things turn out. Is there a set deadline to when character sheets can be submitted yet? Also, when a character is killed will the person have to submit another CS before re-entry?

Name: Mark Evergreen

Age: 30

Nationality: Caucasian - American

Occupation (pre-outbreak): Pastor, turned convict

Appearance:

Mark

Roughly about 6 feet in height. Deep brown eyes with short, curly brown hair. Set, wide shoulders, with a strong upper body. Everything else pretty much as seen in photo.

Personality: Usually, he is pretty level headed, and separated from his past. However, when it needs be, Mark can turn into a vicious killing machine, and do anything, ANYTHING in order to survive. Any people he groups up with, he makes it his business to hide his past from them, for his own safety.

History: Mark started the end of the world in a prison cell. The first time he ever saw a walker was when he was awoke by an undead prison guard trying to reach into his cell. Mark doesn't like to talk about how he escaped the prison, so asking him about it would be the end of someone. Mark has been on his own for a considerable amount of time. With nobody but walkers for company, it is understandable that he has been driven a little insane. The calm and genuinely nice guy that once was is gone. It has been replaced with just a person trying to survive.
Before Jail, he was a pastor, at St David's christian church, Georgia. He would give sermons, and speak in the name of the lord, trying to inspire people to have faith in god. It came to an abrupt end however. When he was divorced by his wife, and after the death of his youngest daughter, he lost it a little. He turned his back and god, and turned to the bottle. One night, with the aid of his new found friend liquor, he took his small revolver he had owned for quite sometime, and killed his ex wife. Put 3 bullet's into her body, and watched her bleed to death. Prison changed Mark. Since he got out of the prison, he has been searching for his other, elder daughter, hoping she had managed to survive this mess.

Useful Skills:
- Knows how to handle firearms
- Learn-ed in first aid and basic medical treatment
- Has an uncanny tendency to be able to reuse otherwise thought useless items to fashion something useful
- He is the type of person that can live with killing another to survive
- As a former man of god, his literary skills allow him to often convince people to see things from his eyes
