Story

Three years after the attempted terrorist attack in Nashville, the USA wasn’t managing to find peace at all. Corrupted elements infiltrated deep in USA’s primary defense assets had secretly waged a war, an event now known as the Third Echelon crisis. Thanks to the skills and commitment of the many American patriots, the crisis didn’t last for long, and President Caldwell had finally shut down the now rogue agency and maintained a bit of peace in the damned country. Or so it seemed.

Using intelligence gathered from one of 3E’s finest operatives, Caldwell had managed to reveal a conspiracy, a threat willing to remove her from the equation and put USA under their reign., a threat only known as Megiddo. Waiting wasn’t a luxury she could afford, so she realized it’s time she made her move first.

The dispersion of Third Echelon was celebrated with the creation of it’s successor, The Fourth Echelon sometimes in the early 2012. The Fourth Echelon’s main priority differed from the priority it’s previous predecessors carried. Due to the significant advance of technology USA had developed, information gathering was no longer done by human individuals but rather by drones. Eliminating the threat, however, was a task unmanned machines weren’t able to carry out. That’s where Fourth Echelon came in. Since the agency managed to finish all of their tasked mandates, Caldwell was certain they were ready to face the Megiddo and possibly destroy it once and for all.
If you haven't realized it yet, this is going to be a Splinter Cell roleplay. It was a very old idea that I tried to get worked up in the old guild, but to no avail. For some reason, not much people like Splinter Cell around here.

Apparently, the whole roleplay will center around four operatives; two working for the NSA sub-branch, Fourth Echelon and the other two working for the Fourth Echelon counterpart, Voron, a sub-division within the russian SVR. It'll have a main plot which I will reveal ONLY if you make an OOC happen.

There will be four open slots, mainly field operatives. The fifth one will be a handler, a role which I will take as it allows me to have more control over the enemies, NPCs and stuff. The equipment will be partially limited. The operatives will have to carry the standard FN Five SeveN pistol, but besides that, you are free to choose whatever you want. However, I am still expecting you guys to maintain the stealth atmosphere and won't go apeshit just to please your inner devil. You are going to be able to choose suits too, but as the suits will be separated into Tactical Concealment Suits (long story short; disguises) and Tactical Operation Suits, I'll have to make sure you don't do anything stupid like wearing a fucking Poolboy uniform in the middle of a war zone.

That's it for now.

I am a big fan of Splinter Cell, so you can count me in. However, I have found some things in your text plain wrong:

1. Fourth Echelon is an independent special operations unit, it answers SOLELY to the president of the United States.

2. Voron is not a sub-division of the CBP (that's SVR in Cyrillic), Voron is a SPETSNAZ unit Within the Operations Department of Directorate S in the CBP. It is based upon the "real" special operations unit of the CBP called "Zaslon". Formerly known in USSR as SPETSNAZ "Vympel".

3. There is no way possible for a simple clandestine unit to be able to take on a secret society that is able to "run Washington, and Moscow, and Beijing and any other place that matters." Not that they couldn't try.

4. Voron has gone rouge, they are probably under Meggidos payroll, just like FBI, CIA, DHS, FSB, GRU, SVR, NSA and the disbanded 3E.

5. As far as I know 4E standard issue handgun is the Beretta PX4 Storm special duty 45. ACP (Used by Sam, Briggs and Grímsdóttir). Only Sam and Charlie used the 5.7mm pistol.

6. 4E official secondary (primary by normal standart) armory was limited too: MP7A1, FAMAS-F2, HK416 and KAC SR-25.

As I said, it's an idea I tried to work up in the old guild, so Blacklist was not out yet. I only relied on knowledge I got from Splinter Cell Conviction. And of course, I made some of the changes deliberately. While the mechanics work a lot like Splinter Cell Conviction/Blacklist; it's more realistic, you're not able to play a sitting duck in plain sight and not be seen just because you invisibility meter is at zero, some of the plot and the way how it's presented bears more resemblance to the older Splinter Cells. For example, after each mission, there will be a news broadcast explaining new things and possibly foreshadowing future missions, just like in the old games (Splinter Cell Stealth Action Redefined - Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow - Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and I'm pretty sure there was a news broadcast in an ending for Splinter Cell Double Agent PS2/XBOX version).

That being said, here's me countering some of the valid points you've made.

1. Yes, I realized that after I played the game. But, as far as we know, the only active Fourth Echelon cell is the one led by Sam Fisher, with Briggs as his sidekick. Since this RP involves four people, I had to deviate from the canon and make it look like 4E has already established a group similar to the one led by Sam Fisher. The RP is set up in the same time period as the events of Blacklist (early 2012, I think), so you know where I'm coming from.

2. I got nothing here. As I said, I was working on knowledge gathered by Splinter Cell Conviction. I even have the old OOC ready, so I guess I'm gonna have to update it.

3. This is not just ONE clandestine unit trying to take down a huge villainous organization with vast influence. This is a cooperation in between two states. Voron and 4E will be taking out the big heads, while the rest of America's and Russia's assets will tie up the loose ends. It's not far fetched to think that by the end of this RP, there will be nothing left of Megiddo.

4. I'm going to deal with the threat of corruption within the two respective groups and play a little bit on the dynamic, but aside from that we're going to say Voron is not entirely compromised. Yet.

5 and 6. Yeah, got that after I played the game.

Either way, I'm thankful you pointed these out for me. As soon as this builds more interest, I'm gonna update the OOC. It's also good to know that this time, I'm pulling towards more dedicated Splinter Cell fans. Last time I tried to air a Splinter Cell RP, one of the participants confused the Osprey for a secret underground base.

Good. We need at the very least two more before I can set up an OOC.

Only one, and then we'll be good to go.

E: That brings back memories. Splinter Cell was the first 3D game I played, back when I owned an Xbox. It was love at first sight.
