Lunar Catastrophe
The city of Dremouria is the only thing left standing after World War III. Behind their strong walls, people live knowing that they are the lucky ones. They have food, shelter, and security. And they have the Lunar Catastrophe making sure that there will always be order amongst them. The LC takes place every time Dremouria witnesses a full moon. The LC starts the day after the full moon is spotted, and ends when the full moon is replaced by a gibbous moon. During the LC, citizens who were born on the month the LC takes place must compete, unless they are younger than ten, older than 60, or is given a pardon by the High Monarch. During the LC, participants are brought into an arena set in the middle of Dremouria, where they must kill or be killed. An individual wins by having ten deaths on his/her hand, and is taken from the arena and returned home if they so wish. They can stay in the arena and continue to fight, as more kills earns them more credits. Any and all forms of cooperation is not allowed, and participants who break this rule will be killed by the monarchy without any further questions. Another thing about the LC is that the people of Dremouria have 'softwares'. These softwares give them special abilites (i.e, telekinesis, etc.) and are made by one of the four manufacturers: From most expensive and powerful to cheapest and weakest softwares: Alpha, Gamma, Epsilon, Phi. Dremouria is also cut into four parts, named after the manufacturers. Those in Phi are the lowest in rank and constitutes of workers, while those in Alpha are members of the monarchy and high class people. Citizens of Dremouria may only receive one software in their lifetime and it cannot be uninstalled. Citizens in Alpha, or those who have gathered enough credits to be recognized by the monarchy as Lunar Guards may apply to get another software installed, but only the toughest of minds can readily accept two softwares. Most find that they cannot fully control their second software.
