Ruby was busy in her own lab at home and was writing her newest findings about Shiny pokémon, she patted her own shiny umbreon in his head. ''You are a good boy Shadow, thank you for listening so well.. You can get your tread now and then go play outside'' she said to the umbreon which then gave her a little poke with his nose to her cheek and then jumped of the table and walked towards the place where Ruby kept her treads. The moment Shadow walked out, her phone rang and so Ruby walked towards the phone in a little hurry. ''Hello?'' she said. ''Ruby, good to hear you.. I am expecting your report about shiny pokemon soon'' her grandpa, the great prof. Oak. said. ''yes grandpa, I just did some last tests with Shadow and Flair'' she said. ''Great and I have a journey planned for you, to Kalos. I think it is time you also start studying other pokémon than Eevee and its Evolutions'' he said. ''Grandpa.. Please, you have Gary for that'' she said. ''I know but keeping your eyes on just one skort, will make you blind for the beauty of others'' he said. ''Okay.. I will go then, if it is so important to you'' she said. ''Good to hear! You will be meeting a trainer who will be your assistant or you are his assistant'' he said. ''Funny grandpa.. I'll leave tomorrow'' she said and then hang up.

Rex arrived at the airport the next morning. He was an excellent Pokémon Trainer, and had made it to the Indigo Plateau a few years ago. But after his journey, he'd gotten a job working at the Fuchsia City Safari Zone. And now, he was going to Kalos to see his uncle. One of Professor Oak's grandkids, a young woman named Ruby, was tagging along. All for the purpose of studying Sylveon. Well, that's what it seemed like to him.

A young girl walked out of the gate pulling a light brown / beige suitcase and a black backpack on her back. On her shoulder was sitting a Eevee, or sitting. It hang on her shoulder and stood on her backpack. ''Kalos Star, a new town and a whole new land to discover.. This sure is pretty'' she said and looked around. Her grandfather prof. Oak had given her the name of the boy and said a little about what he looked like but she had totally forgot it of course because she was busy with her projects. ''You know star.. I am going to you all a few extra fans.. Even though River and Sun didn't come along and I do own all your evolutions.. I would love the opportunity to get you all another time but then your other gender and of course a shiny one'' she said to the Eevee. She looked around, searching for the boy that she would travel with. ''Oh.. what was his name again..'' she said.

"Where is that Ruby girl?" Rex muttered. He scanned the crowd, glancing at the photo he'd been sent by Professor Oak to identify his granddaughter. Considering she specialized in studying one Pokemon evolutionary family, it was likely that she had Eevee-like clothes, or suitcases... He saw her. "Miss Oak!"

''Miss Oak'' Ruby heard and she looked up and smiled, she waved and walked up to him. She smiled at him. ''I forgot the picture my grandfather had send me from you.. I hope you didn't wait long, normally I am not that slow'' she said and looked at Star. ''This is Star, my first Eevee and oh well... you will see why he is pretty special when he stands on the ground but I don't allow him to do that in crowded places'' she said with a smile. ''Oh... and please, say Ruby and not Miss Oak, that makes me feel so old'' she said with another smile.

Rex nodded. "Well, I'm Rex," he introduced himself. "I'm from Fuchsia City, and I guess you're tagging along to study Sylveon in its natural habitat. I'm going to be helping my Uncle Sycamore study Mega Evolution." He offered his hand to shake. "I battled against your brother at the Indigo Plateau last year. He's a frighteningly good Trainer."

''Wait.. Sylveon? a new Eevee evolution? My grandfather didn't say anything about that'' Ruby said and shook his hand. Eevee crawled over her arm to their hands and laid his paw on their hands. ''Star.. Watch out'' she said as she didn't want him to fall, she took him of and held him in her arms as she smiled at Rex. ''Mega-evolution you say? I recently started also a little project about shiny pokémon and their way of evolution'' she said with a smile and followed him out of the airport and looked around.

''My brother.. yes he is a good trainer and does take good care of his pokémon, his eevee and mine are brothers'' she said with a smile. ''or, they came out at the same time'' she then said and patted Star over his head, letting her climb on her shoulder again
