The year is 430 B.C, in the ancient world of Greece and Rome. Between unruly monsters, epic journeys, and all powerful gods it's frankly hard to live if you're normal, constantly tossed about as pawns or as food. You begin as a mere mortal in this world, but you still believe if you ask and pray, great things will come to you. So, one night, visiting the temple of the patron god or goddess of your choice, your prayers are answered in the form of a glorious choice: become a demi-god in their honor for the values and virtues of your patron mother or father. What stories are told in your honor or despite are up to you.

Choose a patron god or goddess.
No doubling up. First come, first served on patrons.
No god-moding. You're not a full god, you're only part.
Your patron will come to you in times of dire need, and if you're really lucky, you may get a gift. I will be the patrons.
All Greco-Roman gods are accepted. Anyone from Pan to Zeus.
I am open to ideas and willing to compromise.

EDIT:
So far, the list of patrons is Cretus, Hades, Athena, Artemis, Hecate, Roma, and Moros. I will not be accepting any further gods or goddesses unless you impress me with a really original idea and character who can blow me out of the water. Please PM me for this.

I have been asked on a plot. A very basic free-form plot is the picking-sides plot, such as monsters governed by an evil master are causing harm and you must choose to join them or fight them. There will be different monsters and trials here and there, and a lot of it is what you want to do and where you think you need to go and see. You wana change the world? Go ahead. You just wana get one thing and go home? Neat. It's more of a free plot with some nudging from yours truly.

Oh, man. This sounds exciting. So far it reminds me of a roleplay I played on another site. The RPG was called: "Servants of the Gods." But, anyways... count me in for sure. I'm excited. Quick question though: Are we able to pick and choose Greek/Roman heroes? Or would only OC's be permitted?

I'd really prefer OC's. I mean, Perseus got a lot of cool stuff with the package of being a hero, I kinda wanna limit that a little. if you take inspiration from heroes like their wit or their motive (Odysseus did everything to be with his wife) is acceptable, but try for more of an OC, pretty please. Great question though.

It'll take some time to figure out OC's, but sure, no problem. Oh, another question: In terms of playable characters, what are our options? Would only our OC's be allowed or can we also play as others (specific Greek monsters, heroes, and what not)?

If you mean like double playing like during your post a baddie says something you can co-op him, but for general day-by-day play I would have to see how well you play as a different hero and your character, or your character and your arch-nemesis and make a final ruling if that's what you mean. Why, what's your idea?

Thanks for the answer, but as of now no specific idea as of yet. Just trying to get a feel of what is allowed and what's not allowed. I'm quite used to playing as multi-characters (with even minor characters having profiles), so just thought I'll ask.

Oh my. I'm interested also. This sounds like something I definitely would enjoy doing. Ah, I am going to have to take some time.

I've never really played as a character who is "on the dark side." So may I agree to Hades/Pluto? It will take some time developing a character I genuinely wish to use.

Constantina: Dark characters are fun. It's the taboo we don't get to live out in life. Hades/Pluto is yours until further report.

MafiaM16: If you want a lacky or a pal or a slave, I will allow it but as more of a shallow character, if you understand. The LeFou to Gaston sort of thing.

Starting to work on my character now, but now I have another question: Do you happen to have a template of how our character sheets should look like?

@Constantina, just a little mention Hades isn't really evil. I mean, yeah he kidnapped his wife, but he's the god of the underworld, not even death. He just watches what happens mostly. He's also the god of the earth's riches, like gold and gems. But please if you have an idea of how your god is, don't let me derail you. Play your patron however you want, because he can be inspired by a god and still do evil things. If you want a more ominous patron, might I suggest the god Thantos, the god of death?

Thanks. Some thought, yes. Kind of wanted a man who has already experienced life at its hardest, thought he was ready to settle down and relax, but it seems his true journey had just begun. I took some inspiration from Hercules though, I'm sure that'll be OK?

Also, do you have a main plot yet in mind or are we just going to come up with our own stories as we move along?

More of an intertwining plot. Im sure ill have y'all bump into each other at given times. The Hercules inspiration was perfectly executed.

Might possibly be interested. Not entirely sure, but I'm always up for some God/Demi god stuff if its good stuff.

I take it this is going to be more of a realistic thing more than fantasy? And are the only patron deities available are those Roman and Greek gods? Just asking to make sure, since those are actually my least favorite pantheons. Love Ancient Egypt/Viking Pantheons. Egpytians' my favorite actually...but I'm getting off topic.

It's not a problem really, but just asking before I go and make one....
Gonna have to do a bit of research too, in that case...don't know the greek/roman gods so well.

Name

Anastasius

Patron

Athena

Gender

Male

Age

35

Personality

Anastasius is a quiet and reserved individual not prone to outbursts of any kind, even in the energies
of the battlefield. In fact it would be rare to hear him speak in anything above a calm voice. He isn't without passion but he has been humbled, replacing rashness with wisdom. Should he find something that harms the common people he will be swift to their aid, bringing retribution upon those who would take advantage of them.

Physical description

Leprosy has destroyed his once handsome body. His once pristine skin has fallen to the disease, causing large patches of flaking skin around his body and bumps to ruin his face. However the disease hadn't touched his strength before Athena banished the disease from his body. Standing at 6'3 and 240 pounds, Anastasius still has his imposing stature and the strength of an ox.

Anastasius rarely leaves the confines of his armor. The armor itself is nothing special, standard issue for hoplites except for obvious wear and tear along with some corrosion on the edges. The helmet is special, stylized to cover everything besides the eyes and the horsetail upon the crest is brittle, sickly, and uneven. Beyond that a large pale cloak covers his body and armor.

Daily Life/Job

Anastasius spends his days looking for a worthy cause to pledge himself to. Otherwise he travels, finding people in need of a helping helping. This help comes in many ways but usually ends with him killing bandits.

Reason For Joining Demi-Life

Anastasius was a man of standing once, made a living as a career soldier of Athens. However that changed when the revolt happened. A leper colony had begun to take destiny by the throat, attacking caravans and anyone who tried to stop them. In desperation a fledgling city state implored Athens to send help to deal with the revolt as they lacked the man power to deal with the it. In response it got the aid it wanted, a small detachment of hoplites.

Expecting a quick victory the hoplites went into battle cocky and over confident, leading to heavy losses when the battle began. The disease gave the rebels unimaginable determination, they would be fatally wounded but wouldn't even phase them. Only guaranteed death blows would kill them quickly and by the end of the battle the rebels were routed, destroyed to the lost man but at a great cost. those few men who didn't die soon found out that they too were now infected with the disease, shunned by the very people they saved. Athens wasn't any better.

Lost, demoralized, and very ill he traveled to the Temple of Athena in search of questions before he was banished. Anastasius pleaded with everything he had, asked every question, and cried every tear he had in an attempt to appeal to his Patron, to find an answer as to why his fate would be to die sick and alone. He never got an answer, instead he got a silence. Bitter and angry he left the temple, left Athens, and went wherever the road took him. It wasn't until several months had passed that an answer came to him. The disease had stopped spreading, the damage it had done would stay but it wouldn't kill him. He would live, disfigured but alive. Faith restored, Anastasius became reborn and renewed his quest for something greater than himself. He would do what Athens would not, he would help those who could not help themselves and protect those who evil would harm.[/central]

Desired Weapon/Skill from Patron

The ability to bring retribution to those black of heart who would harm the innocent and the helpless.

2 Flaws

~Feel No Pain~
Anastasius' leprosy has eliminated his ability to feel pain and while the benefits are there he is far more likely to push his body too far, doing more harm than good.

~Retribution~
Quick to bring death to those who harm the innocent, even when faced with adverse odds.

2 Virtues/Morals

~Empathic~
Anastasius knows what its like to feel pain, loss, and betrayal. He may not speak of it but he will show it, some extra food here and a pouch of gold there. It's the little things that bring comfort.

~Friend of the Destitute~
Always turns a blind eye to those who steal for survival, however should he catch wind of more darker things happening than he will not hesitate to stop them.
