“The bird has entered the premises. I repeat, the bird has entered the premises.” As if on cue, a thundering applause of the formally dressed ladies and gentlemen echoed throughout the hall in welcoming a woman in black long gown with a solemn yet delighted face. A pink haired maiden whispered behind her silky, baby blue scarf before the grand entrance of the aforementioned woman. A tiny microphone was installed within the stylish garment to conceal its existence from the ordinary participants.

This particular female was a secrent agent of sorts, equipped with strapped hidden revolvers to mobile tracking devices. Her innocent, graceful features can only hide so much, which suited Olivia, the female agent, to go undercover within the rest of the audience. The case she and her partner were currently involved with consisted of investigating an uprising cult infamous for their grave crimes in the underworld society and full protection of their current client, the woman in black, Robin.

The celebration being held at the grand hall was intended for Robin’s presentation of her recent, award winning scientific research. Olivia made haste around the crowd in order to keep track of their client while transmitting further messages to her co-agent. “How is the view from where you’re currently positioned in, Chrom?”

A smartly dressed man, adorned in a sharp, black suit, sauntered down a finely decorated balcony, overlooking the banquet that was just getting underway down below. It was sparsely populated, maybe a dozen or so people he could see. The action was going on downstairs, and the only people that would remain here, up above, would be those that weren’t the biggest socialites. To be expected of a bunch of scientists that preferred to be nose deep in data, not martinis. Though he wasn’t one to perform experiments, the man would include himself with that group, as he disdainfully looked at the party goers. Social get togethers and celebrations were much too stuffy for him. His black dress shoes echoed off the polished marble floor as he walked. Little symbols and lines were etched into it. He considered it tacky, much like the tapestries and paintings that were hung along the wall. Like the mess some poor soul of an interior designer would call "proper decoration”, this little shindig wasn’t the man’s style, but he had reasons to be here other than greet and mingle.

He was an agent, performing all sorts of espionage, investigation, and reconnaissance. For this particular case, he had been inserted, with his partner, to safeguard their client, a woman named Robin. From the mission data he had gone over, this woman was an award winning scientist, who might have some sort of connection to a cult that was recently gaining notoriety. And, because she was an award winning scientist, she was of course the life of the party. The man grumbled lightly under his breath. This was just going to make their mission all that much more annoying. Their client would constantly be in a swarm of people, leaving her vulnerable to any sort of miscreant or villain that could blend in and move easily throughout the crowd.

The man came to a stop towards the end of the balcony, right before the stairs that led downward. Bending over, he rested his arms on the railing. Speaking of the aforementioned partner, the radio that was planted into his lapel buzzed at that moment, alerting him to her request for contact. He pressed a small button that was attached to a cufflink, activating the wireless microphone. His partner’s feminine voice was soft, and she inquired to how his view was. Chrom. That was name she spoke, it belonging to the male agent she was talking to. Chrom’s eyes scanned the perimeter surrounding the larger crowd that their client found herself in the middle of. “I can’t complain right now. I have a full visual of the client and her immediate surroundings.”, he responded in a hushed tone. He went silent for a moment as he surveyed the area again. Aside from a couple of scientists being bold at the drink bar, knocking back drink after drink. probably because of irritation towards their client, there wasn’t much to note. “Nothing unusual at the moment.”, he continued on. “If our little bird has her "friends” in attendance, they haven’t made themselves known yet.“

Listening intently to the report of her accomplice regarding the hostess’ status from his point of view, Olivia slightly nodded to herself before responding to his info, “Understood. Hopefully, the rest of the evening will continue to be smooth sailing for us.” A faint curve on her lips, she pressed a hidden button underneath the scarf to switch off her own microphone. The female agent proceeded to linger around the premises close to the huge mass of people their client was in the center of attraction of, casually sipping from the glass of fruit punch she had picked up earlier.

Several people approached and greeted Robin, while Olivia kept close watch from behind her dark shades to mask her eyes. So far, no threatening beings to be seen until footsteps were heard, seemingly getting closer to the agent herself. She turned her head toward the direction of the sound to be greeted by a brawny looking man in an all black tuxedo. “Well aren’t you an odd woman, wearing your shades indoors like this! I mean you no harm madam, just pointing it out out of curiosity. And a lovely evening to you.”

The temptation to stutter like she used to back in her newbie days was present, but that could easily be labeled as ‘suspicious’ and she didn’t want to deal with any trouble this early in the mission. She held back her nervousness and responded with a tinge of embarrassment to her tone, “Oh! It’s my preference in fashion, you see. I don’t believe it’s uncommon in fancy celebrations such as this, is it not? A pleasant evening to you as well, good sir.” Taking a better glance at the other, the pink haired female thought up of a possibility for a man with such a built to be able to carry out a kidnapping as easy as pie. Considering possible perpetrators for a crime had become an instinct through her experience as an agent and this man was no exception.

After flashing a contented [?] smile for her response, he bowed lightly and left her to solitude once more. Watching him leave for a couple of seconds, Olivia quickly turned her attention back to the client to see her climb up the stage with a microphone in hand.

Feminine words flowed through the mic and into his ears. They were laced with a hint of confidence, but the male agent had a hard time sharing that sentiment. Though it was true there wasn’t any suspicious activity yet, the night was still young, and still unpredictable. Chrom was about to respond when a pair of men walked by. Each carried a glass, brown liquid, no doubt some sort of liquor, on the rocks. They happily chatted about theories and data, both wanting to brag about their success. The two seized the wall behind him as their little pow-wow area, and continued their flaunting.

The agent could feel a brow twitch in irritation, as any forms of verbal communication were silenced. And so, a small inclination of his head, barely a slight movement, and Chrom acknowledged her words. Not that she could see it, but it was more for his sake. He’d rather not speak, and too loud at that. It would seem as if he was talking to himself, and any attention that he drew because of it would be unwanted.

He had wanted to believe in his partner’s words, Naga knows that he’d like his job to be a bit easier, but things always had their way to give him a swift kick in the ass. With the feeling of dread he was getting the longer he was in the building, it seemed that someone had a boot en route to his rear.

Chrom had hoped that a bit of walking would shake the feeling. Arms pushed off the railing, bringing him to full height. A quick glance to the men behind him later, and his legs slowly brought him to a saunter back around the way he came from earlier. The heels of his dress shoes clacked against marble, providing the only noise the man made. His vision floated to the left as he walked, switching between his partner and the client he was to protect.

Everything seemed normal. That was, until a man in a tuxedo was coming awfully close to Olivia. As if he was intentionally seeking her. Chrom’s slow pace was brought to a halt. His breath caught in his throat. Olivia turning around to greet him didn’t help matters at all. Were they found out? Did they already know that the agents would be there? As the two conversed, more and more unknowns pounded at his mind. A tenseness gripped his body. Surely this cult wouldn’t try anything in the open?

No, of course not. There were too many people nearby, and the resulting chaos that it would bring would cause too many inconvenient possibilities into their plans. For all he knew, that man could just be someone trying to hit on her. Probably not the most likely of guesses. As far as he knew, scientists weren’t the most well known playboys. Still, that answer brought some peace of mind back to him. Enough so that he could resume breathing small breaths.

All he could do for the moment was trust in his partner. She was a trained professional. She could handle herself. Still, a bit of worry ate at him. She was his partner after all, and he was to have her back no matter how capable she may be. Hesitant as he was for the moment, he shifted azure eyes to their client as she took the stage. She was the main focus for now, not Olivia and her whatever flirting adventures she may be involved in at the moment.

The white haired woman began her speech, and the various speakers placed throughout the room amplified the thank yous she gave out to various peers. The stage she was on was aglow with lights focused on her. The black dress she wore sparkled almost as brightly as her grateful smile. She was truly the star of the night, standing alone above everyone else there.

Alone. That word. It struck him like a lightning bolt. She was alone on the stage. If this cult was going to make a move, this was one hell of a chance right now. The realization snapped his head left and right, immediately looking for anything out of place. The odd thing was, nothing was happening. Like before, no one or thing was suspicious.

With nothing happening, Chrom’s guard lowered for a moment. That moment turned to be a brief one as in a matter of a split second, everything went black. Every light in the room shut off, blinding Chrom’s vision with darkness. Screams erupted from the attendants, caught unaware by the sudden blackout. And if the deafening sound of footsteps was anything to go by, mass panic consumed the crowd.

Chrom gritted his teeth as one hand went for the switch to his mic. “Olivia!”, he barked, “Quickly, get to the client!” Soft words be dammed, it was time for action. His other hand dived into a suit pocket, reaching for a slim pair of night vision goggles. Slipping them on over his eyes, he made a running start for the railing of the balcony. A hand reached forward, making contact against the marble rail, before using it to vault over it and down to the scene below.

He landed on his feet with a thud, before rolling forward, lessening the impact of his maneuver. Azure orbs enhanced by the night vision technology swiveled to the stage. It was empty. Robin was gone. Chrom bit back a swore. There would be time later for cursing over this blunder. For now, Robin’s retrieval was top priority.

"Thank you all for going through the trouble in making it here tonight." The speech began, speakers emitted the voice of Robin in a booming volume while the audience quieted down after a round of applause. All the attention was directed towards the white haired female now, the pinkette agent however, kept her amethyst eyes open for any suspicious movements from the masses. Sipping of liquor to fixing of necktie, nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary as of now. Hoping for a smooth sailing night was a naive thought, she knew better than that. The cult has been sending threats of all sorts to the scientist, which was the reason of her hiring them in the first place. She shut herself from the rest of the world in the safe confines of her home before tonight, there was no way the cult was going to miss this chance to finally take her into custody of their inhumane clutches.

Olivia paused for a moment after a brief scan through of the audience. Why did something feel off? No one seemed to be doing any kind of peculiar action. Then why did she feel a dread slowly seeping in? Was it the liquid waiters were serving? No, Robin hadn't taken in any sort of liquid the waiters were serving tonight. Was it the photographer taking shots of their client? No, the camera appears to be any ordinary camera one could see in any branded camera shops. Why does it feel as if she was... missing something? Wait. Missing? It finally hit her.

The brawny man was nowhere to be found.

Click. Suddenly complete darkness. A female scream.

"Robin!!!" The female agent shrieked, intentionally dropped the glass of fruit punch in her hand and on an impulse, quickly rummaged through her purse for the night vision goggles she had prepared beforehand. She should have known better than to take her eyes off of the client even for a moment or losing track of the suspicious brawny man. Her guilt built up just as fast as how she dashed and climbed atop the stage, to find their client being carried off on the shoulder of the suspected brawny man already at the backstage door. There was no movement detected from the kidnapped female as if she had been knocked unconscious. Just on cue, her partner barked from the other mic, to which she switched hers on and replied with a voice filled with panic while running after the two, "C-Chrom! Ro-Roger! The man who approached me earlier had taken her and is now escaping through the backstage door!"

The door was slammed open with the back of the heel of her black dress shoe, which she found was a nuisance in the current pursuit. Olivia slipped out of the said heeled shoes and continued the pursuit to the lighted, dull hallway of white and grey. After stepping out of the darkness with the echoing, confused screams and shouts, the agent slipped the night vision goggles up onto her head and once again dug her hand into her purse to pick out a handgun. The hallway was thankfully empty of people other than herself and the target which was convenient, her sight was locked onto the target. "S-Stop right there! Put Robin down or I'll resort to s-shooting you!" Her voice evidently shook, this was not the first time she had held a gun or threatened to shoot someone but it was not something one could get accustomed to.

The shouting from the pink haired maiden caused the brawny man to take a quick glance back and snickering before roaring a response back, "Is that so, madam? It seems to me like your voice lacks the resolve to pull the trigger! And isn't this a lovely chase we're having? I have no intentions of discontinuing it any time soon!" Just as he emphasized the word 'soon', he trampled over a couple of heavy boxes and crates behind him before escaping. Those muscles were definitely not just for shows, as the pinkette exerted effort to shove them away to no avail. She slams her hand on the crate in frustration before her eyes take a glimpse of the man leaving out into the parking area.

"Chrom! He's getting away to the parking lot, meet me at our vehicle, please hurry!" Olivia quickly informed her partner of the current situation while she directed herself towards another route leading to the parking area. Once she arrived at the parking area with heavy inhales and exhales, still barefoot, a pure black car speeding out of the parking area gates. Her eyes caught a short sight of the driver, which inevitably was the brawny man they were after. Upon arriving at the vehicle, the female agent quickly worked her hands around in getting it started and stomped onto the accelerator, immediately moving the car forward until the blue haired partner shows himself out of the building. "Come on Chrom, hop on!", she opened the door to the other front seat for Chrom, gesturing him to hurry inside.
