The year is 2157. Though humans have colonized much of the solar system, they have never sent a manned flight outside of the solar system. That is about to change. A remote probe detected a planet with a breathable atmosphere and surface water in the Proxima Centauri system. The colonization effort will require a warp drive more powerful than any ever built, powered by 2.4 tonnes of negative matter, it will allow them to travel a maximum of ten times the speed of light, slowing down slowly as it burns negative matter and anti-matter to maintain the warp field.

Though humans have developed cryogenic sleep technology, no design allows a person to sleep for more than seven to eight months and survive. The ship will have to arrive within six months or the people stored in the pods will have to be awakened so that they don't become seriously injured by the cryosleep process.

The ship will only have six crew members, as it must contain all of the equipment needed to form a new colony and still be small enough for the warp drive to get them there before the cryopods kill them. If additional people are needed once they get to the planet, the medical bay can be used to create clones or new people using artificial wombs and, in the second case, stored gametes.

The crew must build a colony big enough for several hundred people, as Earth has plans of sending people in 1.6 years, when they have harvested enough negative matter and anti-matter from around the sun to send a ship that's just as fast. This colony should include negative matter and anti-matter harvesting facilities to refuel the ships in that system.

We are the six crew. We awaken in orbit around the planet, and must work to build a successful colony while adapting to an alien environment with alien lifeforms.
