You know, I think having just a handful of people is better anyway. We're coordinating much better than we did at the start, and with just 2 (3? 4, including me?) players we can give the story a lot more focus and coherence.

@eschatologist Got it. Depending on how far the plot has moved on by next week, I already have a post in mind. Myra and the Forlorn Hope are chilling in one of the captured watchtowers when they get commanded to head for Tolos. Maybe I'll stop it there. Otherwise, I have a pretty intense 'Myra goes berserk' scene planned for first contact with the Etruscan defenders.

I also don't want to ruin anyone's plans, though. For the scene I have planned, the gates of Tolos would have to be breached first. We shall see how far along the invasion is by the time I can post again. Also, I'm thinking there's going to be a Sweet Thond cameo lol. Ideas upon ideas!

Oh, that won't happen. You're the one who's got to open those gates, after all. Right before your assault is the very farthest I'll go, at least.

Alright, you're in (for both characters, if you want). Feel free to post in the characters tab and the IC.

One thing I'm really looking for is a plotting scene between Oromis and Claes. I can't quite figure out a way to get that scene to happen before we take the city, but I really want it to happen soon.

She needs to explain that she is doing this to gain political capital under the new regime and for NO ULTERIOR MOTIVES WHATSOEVER

@Vahir A question because my mind is bored at work. Is there any kind of heraldry associated with the City of Tolos? Or any colors the soldiers serving the Prophet might wear? I was just curious. Because if not...I have ideas lol.

Thanks there! I've really enjoyed what I've read from you all so far!

About my post: the two men are going to turn out to be certain, well-connected people on the inside of Talos who support Oromis's impending conquest. If anybody has any ideas or any need for those sort of people, let me know!

So, I'm thinking, just for the sake of moving the plot along, I'm going to start my next post with Myra and the Forlorn Hope in a watchtower. The coastal towers have been conquered and they are ready to move on. From there she gets orders to advance to a position near the city gates. I'll have a brief bit of ram building and then probably end the post there so it's not huge. Next post will be the gate breaching and crazy Myra time. Thoughts? Questions? Concerns?

That's not a bad idea, actually. I'll have you about a day ahead of Clars, and make a post where Laurence closed ranks around the city in preparation for the seoge. The ram would be a fun misdirection, because claes' idea is sneaking you onto the walls and opening the gates from the inside.

I think that sneaking in and opening the gates from the inside would be cool. Aksel could possibly use his contacts to help out with that.

@Eschatologist That would be cool. I was thinking maybe one or two penal battalions were sent along with the Night Hunters and the Gray Winds. The rest are obviously with Oromis and the Mardochians. The convicts would make the ram and man it so nobody essential gets killed. Having Myra briefly meet Sweet Thond again only to be told he's basically a glorified distraction would be beautiful. Get her nice and angry before she gets sent to the gates. I like it a lot. The more crap we can put our characters through the better. :)

Sounds good to me. Thrond and his lot will have taken out other watchtowers, and will meet you at Tolos. The penal battalions will stage an attempt at some weak point of wall, and Claes and the lancers will hide while Laurence makes sure the city is isolated. Myra will sneak up into one of the main gates and hold it open, lancers storm the city, and bob's your uncle.

Okay...I'm trying to think how much time will have passed since the beach landing. Seems like a lot will have happened by the time I post. So, the boats landed at midday. I'm thinking these coastal watchtowers were poorly manned since the Prophet probably didn't expect an attack by sea. So, the Forlorn Hope and the penal battalions could probably have done all their work by nightfall. Maybe the penal battalions had further orders to press on into the forest, under cover of darkness, to begin work on the ram. Once it was about done they would go get Myra from the watchtowers where she's waiting for orders. The assault would begin at dawn.

My post would start with Myra waiting in the watchtower and Sweet Thond coming to get her.

I don't know how far away Tolos is from the coast, is the thing. That timeline would suggest 'very close', which I am totally fine with and would make for a convenient story thread, but idk if it is snackurate.

Convenient works for me lol. I'm sure Vahir won't mind.

EDIT: Just realized I placed the beach a day and a half from Tolos. Hmmm...so maybe the watchtowers fall by sunset on the same day as the landing. Maybe, instead of having the penal battalions move ahead, Myra and the Forlorn Hope go with them to the forest to make the ram. So, I'm definitely making two posts. In the first one, Myra, the Forlorn Hope, and the penal battalions will have taken the watchtowers and will be readying themselves to march in the morning. The next post will deal with the journey to the forest outside of Tolos, the making of the ram, and that's it. I think that makes sense...

I imagined Tolos as being at the point where the river divides into a north fork and a south fork, at the delta. Of course, it's wherever is convenient for the story. I considered making a map of Etruscia, but I figure it's better to leave it vague, adding stuff in as we go (and not at all due to laziness).

I'll be honest, I haven't really been able to work on an IC post, with a bunch of finals next week. I'll set up another GM post after I'm finished them (assuming they haven't killed me).
