[IC] Fate is a Cruel Thing

Max

You awake atop a bed of moss. The moss directly around you is singed. Your head is foggy and you realize you're surrounded by trees. Rays of light shoot through the high leaves of the trees, surrounding you in ribbons. A girl enters your vision a second after your eyes catch the light reflected off your trusty sword. She looks to be about eighteen or so and is dressed in a tattered nightgown. She smiles weakly and sways a little. "Hello. Have you seen the store? I got lost on my way to the store. I needed to buy flour for my best friend's birthday cake."

Louis

You awake with a headache under a brown-leafed tree. It seems to shade you from the harsh light as you gaze across flat, sandy ground as far as the eyes can see. Mostly. As you look around, you can see two clusters of Shadows along the horizon: a rounded one to the east, based on the rising sun, and a few "blocks" to the south. You notice a small sword buried in the tree that shades you and a wooden shield about the size of your torso. A tree a few yards off has a shadow that seems to be growing- no, approaching- you. Fast. It looks like a kid. About ten or so. You can't tell the gender from this distance, but can see that it's clothes are very torn and tattered. You then hear it: water.

Next to your tree, on the other side, is a tiny spring of water bubbling from the ground. Looking back at the shadow child, you see that it's direction seems more logically aimed at the spring than you, but its eyes are locked on you, as if to challenge you to stop it. The face looks male, but it looks like he's wearing a large cloth tunic or poncho.

Louis, woke up and he was not very happy. "Bloody blooming, headache...." He muttered in disgust. He then took a gather of what lay around him, and he noticed a sword in a tree. He smiled as the familiar weapon, was within grabbing distance. He rose to his feet and put both hands on the sword's hilt and yanked at it, to free it.

Louis still yanking away at the sword, takes a look around him and catches a sight of a spring right next to him, and he smiles even more broadly then at the sword. I could stay here for days, with that much water. He then noticed, an approaching child? It was hard to tell at the distance and it seemed like he was after the water. Louis growled. "Stay back kid, the water is mine," he warned, all the while still trying to free the stupid sword.

Louis

The sword came free a moment after Louis' growl. The kid sees him staring back and let's out a beast-like roar, changing his direction to run directly at Louis. His form changed along with his direction. His hands grew inch and a half long claws, his face contorted into a snarl, revealing sharp, animal-like teeth. His pace picked up, and closes the distance even faster. You have enough time to either grab your shield or test your sword against him, but it seems as though you have only a chance to choose offense or defense.

[Nyther]

Max quickly lept to his feet in his disoriented state. "Where, where am I?" He thought to himself. The greenery seemed nice enough, but he didn't remember coming to this part of the forest. "My sword." Max says happily. He goes to retrieve it just as a girl comes into his field of vision. A little unnerved, Max freezes in place. "I, have not seen the store. What are you doing here?" Max replies to her question as he tries to inch his way to his sword.

You reach your sword as the girl sleepily shrugs and walks away, disappearing behind a tree. As you reach the sword, you notice that it doesn't have the same burn markings around it that you had when you first awoke. A few seconds later, another girl appears from behind another tree and repeats the same exact words the last did like a broken record with a different face. You know that this is either a vase of deja vu or something is very wrong.

Max looks at swords and shrugs as he sheathes it. He looks at the girl and a small pit of fear starts to form. "No." He relies as he slowly walks the opposite way of the girl.
