In the continent of Zastier, the gods are ever present. Across the land no settling from the small fishing village to the bustling cities are dry of places of worship. Many gods are worshiped, and no town ever claims the same god as another as its protector. Societies within the continent vary diversely culturally, and thus one might think they would clash. However the fear of the Champions clashing holds war at bay. The champions are those on Zastier whom were chosen by their temple to represent the gods on earth, and to hold the powers of their gods within them. All issues between major powers in the land of Zastier are resolved at the capitals great pantheon, where Champions of great importance assist public officials and end disagreements while respecting their gods. You, the one reading this, are now able to become a champion. Create your character and choose your god.
Rules are simple. You represent the God and have their powers, however you do not have their power. Your character is not a god, and should not be able to be wiping other gods or armies out instantly. Also, certain gods out of respect to those whom may be offended are off limits. For example: Hindu gods, Christian God, Allah, Buddha, or any prominent figure within the spectrum of religions with large followings today are off limits. Another rule, no god is better than the other simply based on following. I know little of Mayan gods and know much of Greek and Norse and Chinese. This does not mean my God is better because of their powers or influence. That being said a main point in the story is representation of gods at the pantheon. Some gods within this realm have larger followings (will be determined by story which gods these are) and may therefore have a cocky Champion. You can be one of those, but don't be that guy. You know... THAT GUY. You also do not have to be a champion if you choose. Being a Saint(one whom works with a designated temple but is not a champion yet still has been blessed with unique powers) of an element or force is equally viable. Demi-Gods are viable depending upon demi-god.
DISCLAIMER: If you find this may be offensive (i.e. you would find Ares getting beat up by Odin offensive) don't read this thread or join please. This is just what I think is a cool idea that is relatively unexplored.
This can be anything we decide to make it. Romance is allowed if you want, just don't be explicit. Two players fighting each-other is fine so long as one does not try to dominate the fight(refer to rules). All ideas are welcome. Not all gods have to be at the Pantheon. For example mine will not. Your mannerisms need not be tied down to the god your character represents. It is what you make it.
Next post will be 1)An example of what you should provide for the rest of the thread to see so we have a base understanding of your character, and 2)My character.
