Artemis Penrose, Great Hall
Following the other students as they are led to the Grand staircase, Artemis allowed his eyes to scan the crowd of eager first-years. Finding several from families he's spotted at Mother's parties, Artemis releases a soft sigh and follow the stairs that led to somewhere new and exciting. Reaching the top of the steps and coming to a halt, the Artemis blinks up into the stern face of an adult with a tilted hat atop of her head.
"In a few moments, you will be sorted into your houses. They are Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Gryffindor and Slytherin, any rule-breaking will result in your house losing points, achievements will earn you points. While at Hogwarts, your house will be like your family, now stay here and I shall return shortly." With that the women turns on her heel and makes her way through a set of open double doors, only to push through anther set and disappear with the doors closing behind her.
"So it's true, the saying on the train. Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts." The nonchalant drawl has the excited chatter dying away as Artemis watches as a blonde-haired boy moves to the front of the group, silver-gray eyes narrowed. "You'll soon see some wizard families are better then others, Potter. I can can help you there. I'm Draco Malfoy" The hand that's held out is left with no respose, Potter tilts his head and after a moment shakes it.
"I think I can tell the wrong sort for myself. Thanks." Artemis watches with curiosity as Malfoy'a mouth opens to retort, eyes narrowed and anger dusting his cheeks pink. The rolled up parchment that hits his shoulder draws his attention up and back, the pointed-hat lady arches a btow and with a sneer, Malfoy moves away from Potter and to the side.
"We're ready for you now." Artemis and the rest of the group follow the women inside the double doors, Artemis couldn't help the exhale of surprise that left his lips at the sight that met his gaze. Candles floated freely through the air, they ceiling reflecting the night-sky, the sounds of laughter and voices filling the air as the group came to a pause behand the adult, a single stool and old-worn hat on top of the stool. "Now when I call your name, you will step up and you will be sorted into your house. It went on like that, their group of first-years, dwindling until only a few were left. "Artemis Penrose?" The sound of his name had Artemis jerking forward and sitting on top of the stool.
"Slytherin!!! It shouted a few moments later, rising to his feet and heading towards the snkes crests and sits down on the bench.
"Welcome to Slytherin, pleasure to meet you, Penrose." Artemis looks up from his plate of food and offers a wave to his fellow companion.
"Likewise, Malfoy. I can't wait to get to know you all better." Artemis offered with a shrug, eagerly digging into his food.
Manners be damned.
He was starving.
