[OOC] [Wonder]Full Hearts

Hello, and welcome to the out of character section for a new and original rp, [Wonder]Full Hearts. In this game you'll be playing in a slightly darker version of our world, in a city known as Serendipity, where corporations spew darkness in the sky's and slogans on the streets, and gangs rule the lower districts with corrupt cops and no way out. But here in WFH, we put a twist on your usual modern dystopia.

Characters will be subject to the rising of a Blue Moon, a catastrophic event that will open ancient gates and release magic onto the world once more. Beings will surface, Catalysts of the Heart, and they will bring chaos on humanity by choosing their champions. Each Catalyst represents an emotion, feeling, or idea, and each will have it's own agenda. Serve them as you will or try to do your best to refuse them, but in the end, you have to follow your heart.

Here we'll post character sheets and each will wait for my approval. We'll also be chatting about the game and possibly new concepts to be added on as we play.

Power: Mikhail is the Champion of the Catalyst of Hope, and is thus granted the Blade That Ends Misery, a magical sword that allows one to sense Hope, his' and others', and transform that emotion into energy, which in turn can be made into constructs, force-fields, anti-gravity, and heal people. Basically, a Blue Lantern Ring* without the need for a Green one.

However, this power has a big drawback. Mikhail's powers are dependent on how much hope is in the area, and his own ability to be hopeful is failing. That means that he has to depend on other people to have hope, which does not always work. Thus, psychological warfare, as well as taking out any companions or bodyguards he has, is an effective tactic against him.

Short bio: Mikhail's parents were second-generation Russian Immigrants who came to Serendipity as architects for a new skyscraper that was going to be put up in the city, but who stayed in order to earn a living. Ethusiaists of Tolkien, they became members of the local Speculative Fiction fan club, which gave their son an early immersion in fantasy literature, as well as a circle of enthusiastic caretakers. However, Mikhail's family had a dark secret; they were running from a debt from the Russian Mafiya (yes, that's the spelling), a debt of several million rubles.

One day, as Mikhail and his family were sleeping, the enforcers of the Mafiya came in, and, snatching them from their beds, killed Mikhail's parents in front of him, before kidnapping the traumatized boy, no more than 15, as 'collateral' for the debt. After blindfolding him, the enforcers took the boy to a remote address, where they sold him to men in silken blue robes, with obscure cultic symbols threaded into them. These were now Mikhail's new owners and guardians, a Cult beyond the reaches of the law, a Cult made up of several people from various corporations.

What was the purpose of this Cult? To herald the return of the 'Catalysts' to this planet, and to prepare vessels for them through rigorous testing that bordered on, and crossed the line to, torture. There were other children with him, too, children who like him, were beaten, forced to carry large weights around the Cult's compound, denied food when they resisted, and struck with cattle prods at the slightest provocation. Mikhail could not comprehend such treatment. What did his tormentors want? What were they trying to accomplish? He was switching between hope and despair, damnit!

Worse were the rumors that on a certain night, he and the other children will be gathered, then killed...unless they can manifest impossible powers...

I like it but a few notes:
The Night of the Blue Moon was supposed to be the start of the rp and even though no one was really supposed to know, a cult would be interesting. Don't go with emotion demons, just Catalysts is fine.
I like the Hope thing, being corporate is odd but that's all right, I'll have to limit your constructs a bit in size and function at least.
Let me know if you want to play hope, if someone else wants hope, or if you want me to play as hope. I'll make the sheet and everything if you do.

As for limiting constructs, what about just limiting the amount of hope that can be found in whatever areas Mikhail is?

@Letter Bee Well, you can cut out the part that up to the night of the blue moon and well role play it to get into the characters. As the gm and as your Catalyst, I'll tell you how much hope you can sense and probably give you other artifacts if I decide you deserve them. I'll be making hopes sheet but let me know when you're done.

General Appearance: A tall, broad man, with long golden hair and sun tanned skin, with straightforward eyes and a usually happy, calm, fatherly expression. At times he can summon giant white wings and speaks with a smooth baritone.

Clothing Choices: When posing as a human, he wears a white suit with a golden dress shirt and a gloriously blue tie. In battle he dons shining white armor much as ancient paladins, and his helmet sports a brilliant blue-gold plume. The armor is also decorated in blue runes and golden lining.
Hair style: Long, golden hair, light and feathery, with springy bangs that often fall about his face.
Eye Color: blue
Weapons/Artifacts: The Blade that Ends Misery, a great white sword with blue runes and a golden hilt, that cuts despair itself from any living creature. It can harm no innocent, and glows bright when it is held against the wicked.
The Horn of Gabriel. It causes the spirits of good people to rally around you in battle, and drives out fear in the area.
Wings of the Heart. Ethereal wings that rise with the power of hope. They can protect others, be used as weapons, and shine in hope.
Hope Bringer. A large magical blue shield that can stand against almost all practical weapons and magical ones. It uses ones own energy to persist.
Accessories: A golden chain necklace, and a brilliant glass charm keychain.
Abilities: Hope itself can be used to create objects and bring them into permanence, the size and functionality depending on the amount of hope used. He can show you what gives you your greatest hope, and rally you against Fear itself. Hopes appearance has a calming aura, but he can make you hope to do anything. He can of course sense others hopes and what they hope for.
Personality: A happy, calm headed man, who tries to help anyone in need, he smiles and laughs often and feels good to cause hope to others. He will go out of his way to help others but prefers to give them the strength to carry it out themselves. He likes his Squire, his self called "Peacemaker" and tries to meld him into a bringer of great good once this chaos is gone.
Morality: Good. Tries to help others. Is against stealing, murder, and any chaotic or unlawful act.
Additional Information: Although he disapproves of the cult that tried to raise a power from the beyond, he's doing his best to accept them and to raise all of his children to bring hope and goodness onto the world.
