”Serena!”

The demon girl sighed as she pulled her pillow over her head, wanting to block out the noise of her lordship, but knowing that it was futile. “Coming!” She called, as she groaned, laying there a few moments longer before ripping herself away from her bed. It was way too early for this. A quick glance towards her alarm clock read 8:30AM in bright red lights. Making her way into the court gathering area as she called it, her cotton candy pink hair tousled at her back, she shrugged on a leather half jacket over a light blue halter top and some denim shorts and combat boots. “You called?” She asked, looking up towards her leader, giving her full attention.

Their leader was beautiful, even sinful for a better adjective. Her lips were the deepest of blood reds and her hair flowed the deepest blacks of the night.

“Serena. Glad to see that you have made it. I’m sure you know that it is coming time for the exchange of my old human in favor of another to pass my lineage with.”

She smiled, not really so much asking a question as making it re-stated. Serena simply gave a small nod, knowing better than not to speak. “I have selected a perfect candidate. He is rather young, though..Not quite eighteen yet. If my sources don’t fail me he is seventeen. Either way, you are tasked with the duty of his safety. And if it is compromised, consider yourself dead. Is that clear?”

She said this with a lightness you would not have thought possible, but Serena heard every ounce of venom in those words.

“Of course your lordship, I would think not otherwise. May I ask how exactly I’m going to be able to keep in close contact with the target?”

The demon lord smiled, and with a wave of her hand, a piece of pink paper materialized.

“This is a copy of his class schedule, and you will be following it. I’m sure that you’ll do a fine job of getting to know him, and then soon you should tell him of his purpose so he doesn’t get any ideas of giving himself to another female besides me. If he should, then he is worthless to me.”

She really wasn’t taking any chances on this new human, was she? She couldn’t help but wonder about what was wrong with the current human she had that she had gotten not even that long ago. But time passed considerably slow here..She made a quick rip in the air, and passed right through – arriving in a nearby alley. Hopefully this school was public and didn’t require some kind of uniform. She had not worn one in years.
