"I'm doing well, thank you." Spinel told Zircon. She remembered Zircon's thumbs up gesture from earlier, and mimicked it now, assuming it meant something good. She then looked at Howlite with some manner of concern. "I'm not completely sure what that means, but my best guess is nothing good. Maybe you should settle down? Just try not to do too much at once, okay?"
@Pathfinder Too bad, I'll be glad to see him when he gets back. I imagine the gems are going to be eager to help him when the reach him.

She put her emotions away and prepared to help her friends to safety. She approached Zircon. "Ah, hello, Unassuming Black Gem, are you well?" She sort of half walked away but kept her attention focused on Zircon. She looked at Howlite and said "And you, Obedient Gray? Have you been hurt?"
@Saarebas Well, the one game I'm trying to GM right now is plodding along at best, but I've run successful games in the past and I think the number one thing is that you need to do everything you can to engage the players. I've seen RPs with great world building and plots die before because people had no idea what to do. I wrote an RP that lasted for 2416 posts (my personal best for an RP if that isn't obvious) and I wasn't even that great at writing yet, but I did my best to intimately get to know the characters and gave them all subplots to go with the main plot.
It probably doesn't hurt that I also picked a popular property (Fire Emblem) and gave them a story that you'd actually expect from such an RP.

@Akayaofthemoon I half didn't believe that at first, but Russia... And that... wasn't Ruby. This character needs a name, Marubio or Mariuby I think.
Spinel had had a few moments to collect herself at this point, and she decided that was enough. The last thing she wanted to do was interact with anyone right now, but she had a job to do, and she thought Aquamarine at least deserved an answer. She appeared and timidly said "I-I'm not hurt too badly. I'm not sure that the others are doing as well as we are, perhaps we should try to help them before we move on?"

My favorite humans are Greg, Sadie and Connie. I hop we'll see more of that fry kid too.
Also, I've given it some thought and I'm not sure if Spinel is as loyal as I made her out to be last night. The more I think about it, the more I'm hoping for a point when she's actually given the opportunity to join Bloodstone, it should be incredibly fun to write!
