Kingdom of Orleans

Government Type: Absolute Monarchy
Demographics: Human only, caucausian majority.
Leadership: King Reynaud D'Reciet IV
Economy: A primarily agriculture based society, the economy of Orleans is based around its extensive tracts of fertile land among its colonized worlds. Producing wheat, poultry, dairy, beef, pork, and lamb are the primary exports of Orleans, totaling upwards of 50% of its total economy. Furthermore, owing to its colonial territories, numerous fine wines, champagnes, rums, and burbons all are produced/distilled for further exportation/internal consumption. Currently, nearly 38% of Orleans active population is employed in agriculture, with the agri-food industry making up 42% of Orleans GDP.
The secondary sector of Orleans economic power resides in the mining/mineral wealth of its worlds. Massive crude oil derricks, deepwater oil platforms, and expansive iron/coal mines make up the back bone of both the power industry and the military industrial complexes of Orleans. Energy is provide via two main sources, that being the Hydroelectric power plants dotting the numerous rivers of Orleans and its colonies, and more heavily, in heavy Thermal power plants, producing energy based off of heavy crimson oil, found in abundance all throughout the realms of Orleans. The energy and mining sectors of Orleans employ a further 20% of the active population, and equate to roughly 13% of total GDP.
The remaining sectors of Orleans econimic power/employment comprise of military industry, tourism, finance, fishing, recycling, and so on.
The people of the Kingdom of Orleans have yet to discover nuclear energy, and to their knowledge, have no known sources of radioactive materials, as well as a known lack of heavier metals, such as titanium and platnium.

The backbone of the civilian merchant fleets, Dantes-Class Merchant Vessels are a common sight in the realms of Orleans, and abroad. Their design is a melding of both internal development, and external aid, owing to a somewhat different design from normal conventional shipbuilding within the kingdom. Weighing roughly 500 tons, these ships can carry in excess of 10,000 long tons, have a crew of 60, and are predominantly operated by civilian companies. *In times of war, civilian shipping vessels can be drafted into auxiliary military service if the need arises.*

Military: The Military of the Kingdom of Orleans is broken into three distinct branches, each serving overall towards the defense of the Kingdom, its people, and above all else, its sovereign. In the endless void of space, the Royal Orleans Navy guards both near and afar. On the ground and internal airspace, the Royal Orleans Army and Army-Air Corp defends the kingdom's interests, and when the call arises, takes the fight to the enemy. Last, is the Orleans National Gendarmerie, who patrol the streets, cities, and colonies of the Kingdom. Officers are a mixture of promising candidates who've earned their positions through merit, and those of noble families, who purchased a commission for their son(s). The rest of the military is a mixture of career soldiers, and those who are serving their compulsory military service, requiring all men upon turning 18 to serve until they are 24 years old, upon which they are sent into reserve units until they are 48 years old.
*Enlistees can choose to extend their terms of active service, and in return can choose another branch of the armed forces should they so choose. Furthermore, all men can apply for reserve service extensions to the age of 60, dependent upon rank and position.*
Total Active Duty Personnel: 14,500,000
Total Reserve Personnel: 2,200,200

The pride and might of the Kingdom of Orleans, the Royal Orleans Navy serves at the express purpose of the King and his appointed officers. The navy operates proudly and with force throughout the realm of Orleans, sailing in flotilla's that patrol from the heart of Orleans to its frontier. Built with pride in the Brest-Biloxi Naval shipyards on Quenelles, the capital world of Orleans. Two more naval ship yards are located on outlying worlds, one being in Mousillon, and the other on Bordeleaux. The Royal Orleans Navy, R.O.N., seeks to protect the frontiers of Orleans first and foremost, however, they have been known to operate in an expeditionary manner to support other causes throughout the galaxy.

The land-based portion of the armed forces of the Kingdom of Orleans, they are charged in the terrestrial defense of all territorial holdings of Orleans, and in times of war, offensive ground based operations. They feature a sub-department within itself, known as the Royal Orleans Army Air Corp, who conduct in-atmosphere aerial operations in support of the military.

The primary law enforcement arm of the Kingdom of Orleans, the National Gendarmerie is an extension of the Army of Orleans, though mainly focused on localized law enforcement and protection of the citizens. From the far flung borders of the Kingdom, to the bustling metropolitan centers, the National Gendarmerie is charged with the arduous task of maintaining control over both land and space. They maintain law and order day and night, all in the name of the King.
The Gendarmerie's missions belong to three categories:
1) Administrative Police - Upholding public order, safety checks and traffic controls, assistance to people in imminent danger, protection duties, etc.
2) Judicial police - Handling penal law enforcement and investigation of crimes and felonies
3) Military and defense missions - Including military police for the armed forces
These missions include:
- The policing of the countryside, rivers, coastal areas, shipping lanes, general space, and population centers.
- Criminal investigations under judiciary supervision.
- Maintaining law and order in public gatherings and demonstrations, including crowd control and other security activities;
-- Police at sea/space
-- Security of airports/spaceports, civil refinery sites and military installations
-- Provision of military police services to the Orleans military — on the Orleans territory as well as during foreign operations (OPEX)
-- For the Royal Guard participation in the state's protocol and ceremonies

Standardized uniform and equipment of the Gendarmerie officers. Of note is the armor, molded from durable steel plates that provide protection from both kinetic and energy based weapons.

A light infantry fighting vehicle, used extensively by the Gendarmerie in patrolling the frontier of the Orleans ground based territories. Mounts a high velocity 20mm cannon.

A light infantry fighting vehicle suited for urban operations, featuring heavier armor than the Dubois IFV. A short barreled 30mm cannon provides heavier firepower as well, without the risk of over penetration.

A more civilian version of the Vautour-Class Patrol Craft used by the Orleans Army-Air Corp, this vessel can operate in both atmosphere and in space, and is favored during long range Gendarmerie patrols.

Serving as the backbone of Gendarmerie naval operations, the Cerf-Class Frigate provides standoff capabilities against hostile forces, from pirates to marauders, the Cerf allows for a more aggressive patrolling and defending of the frontier.

*Excerpt from the Royal Archives, Document AH-0001.*
"Concerning the time and history prior to the Great Journey, little to none is known. The Arc, La'Vie, experienced a rough landing upon coming into contact with Quenelles. The ship experienced a navigational error, along with unexplained systems failures, leading to the vessel to initiate an emergency re-entry landing upon the southern plains of the northern hemisphere's main continent, now known as Bastonne. The crash heavily damaged the archives, as well as nearly destroying the ship's main power-core, which lead to the reliance on secondary reactors, which have long since been drained within 50 years of touchdown. We are without knowledge of the past, save for those of learned dispositions, and for our own story's passed down through generations. For all intents and purposes, we are starting anew in Year One, E.E. Exodus Era." Captain Jean-Bart Garamonte.
**The Kingdom of Orleans uses it own designation for era designation, however, in accordance with greater Eden cluster time keeping standards, there is a roughly 200 year difference in actual eras, due in part to the arrival of the Arc La'Vie 200 years after initial Core systems colonization ship landing. Actual arrival to Eden Cluster is believed to have happened roughly 700 years ago.** Notes of Orleans Explorer Guy D'Lusignan.

Skilled Tactician - By no means the best there ever was, still, Edmyn has attained an adept understanding of war, the flow of armies, supplies, and how terrain and perceptions play into the logistics of war. Furthermore, he is a skilled fighter, having been trained by Ser Axel Tully himself on numerous occasions, and other skilled fighters.
Quick - Edmyn has shown to be a smart man, quickly understanding concepts and studies, and applying them to everyday life. More than most, he had to learn to rule with all due haste after the death of his elder brothers. Lord Edmyn displays a keen ability to be taught something, and then carry out that teaching without needing further help.
Groomed - Always clean shaven, bathed, and clean clothes, Lord Edmyn takes pride in his personal appearance, and the general improvement to his overall health that comes with taking care of ones self.
Attractive - More than money and power, than the titles, Edmyn is considered to be an attractive man, standing six feet and two inches tall. His strong chin, cheeks, face, and perhaps the warmth of his smile, has earned him on more than one occasion the fawning of women.
Stategist - War has been a part of the Riverlands for centuries. Even more so, is the lack of geographic boundaries to protect the Riverlands, something that Edmyn has studied greatly, to learn how best to use these weaknesses to his own strength and benefit. After becoming Lord Paramount, Edmyn spared no expense and time to be educated in the art of war and strategy.
Diligent - None can say Edmyn, once he puts his mind to something, gives up. He sets his goals, and steadily works towards attaining those goals.
Ambitious - Edmyn desires to set himself above and beyond the previous Lord Paramounts of the Riverlands, he seeks to permanantly cement his name, and his family's name in the history books. Good enough is not in his vocabulary, to Edmyn, best to do it right, or not at all.
Just - The law is the law, however it is not blind nor without heart. Edmyn holds court often to hear of his subjects disputes, complaints, and crimes. The law treats all men equal, no matter their birth, and it is something he has placed great faith in.
Scarred - Some wounds never heal, and the cut Ser Axel recieved on the Stepstones is worn with honor and pride. The man who gave it to him has long since passed, but it serves as a reminder as to Ser Axel's line of work, and his duty to protect the Queen.
Formidable Fighter - The skill with a sword Ser Axel posses is rivaled perhaps by a few others who currently live, but for those who saw him upon the fields of battle during the Stepstones Rebellion, it took six men against him for him to even recieve a wound, and all six of those men lie dead. He chooses to fight from the ground, on his own two feet, rather than atop a horse. Some might think this a weakness, yet to him, it just means his foe has a longer fall to the ground.
Brawny - Ser Axel has spent years of his life devoted to protecting and serving the Iron Throne, his body a weapon in its own right. He is no small man, nor some pushover.
Duelist - A sword and shield is all he needs, and his foes will fall before him like freshly cut wheat. Ser Axel, perhaps, could be counted among those that are considered the greats who have served within the Kingsguard, and worn the white.
Brave - Let no man doubt Ser Axel Tully's bravery, for he would charge a thousand foes if it meant saving the Queen or the Princess.
Stubborn - The last of Ser Axel's notable traits, is his stubbornness. Ever the last to leave, and the first to enter, he rarely if ever gives in, save for a direct order from the Queen, and depending, the Princess as well. Ser Axel has been jokingly referred to as the trout ever jumping up an endless waterfall.

Attractive - Being of the blood of Old Valyria, Rhaenyra is decidedly beautiful. Her fair features, silver hair, stunning eyes of pale blue-green, define the beauty that is Lady Rhaenyra, who with her regal bearing, cuts a memorable figure for those who lay eyes upon her. Her fair looks are owed to her father, mother, and the old bloodlines of yesteryear.
Kind - If one thing can ever be said of Lady Rhaenyra, is that she is very kind. Her heart is large, and she cares for those around her with great compassion and love. Being mean or angry is hard for Rhaenyra, and holding onto negativity is something that she has never been able to do well, instead, she looks at the good and positive.
Diligent - Ever the one to always finish a task, Rhaenyra sees anything and everything through to the end. She enjoys the adventure and reward of completing meaningful endeavors that she sets her mind to.
Shy - Those that know her closely will note Lady Rhaenyra's lack of enthusiasm when it come to speaking with others. She much prefers to watch and listen, rather than offer her input. When asked, she will answer, but usually, one must press in order to break Rhaenyra out of her shell.
Trusting - Perhaps a flaw, perhaps a sign of a good and uncorrupted heart. Either way, Rhaenyra is very trusting, within reason, of others at first. More than anything, she trusts her father, Lord Aegon Velaryon implicitly, and sees no reason as to why he would ever lie to her.
Gardener - Lady Rhaenyra enjoys the fresh open air and the warm kiss of the sun. More than that, she is an avid gardener, who enjoys the process of growing flowers and fresh food for herself and her family. The work and effort involved give her a sense of pride and accomplishment, that her little garden is there because of her hard work and diligence.
Scarrred - When one chooses to ignore caution and live a more adventurous life, accidents happen, or rather, life happens. Across the left side of her face, from the middle of her nose to slightly below her eye, is a scar from one of her first real battles. Now, the old wound has healed, and seemingly added more beauty to Baela than before.
Ambitious - For Baela, she is not content to idly wait by for the world to come to her, nor for opportunity to present itself. Rather, she seeks out her own future, charting a course to have her rise higher in the world, and place her name in the annuals of time and history.
Brave - Part of being ambitious and adventurous is being brave. Many a foe expects a woman to cower before them, to beg and plead, not Baela, she happily charges in, sword drawn, a vicious predatory look on her face, and the knowledge that those self-important men, well, their courage is quickly running down the side of their leg. The unknown shouldn't be feared, and for Baela, she respects it, while actively choosing to rush forward into the dark to see what lies within.
