Well in the beginning of Bleach, which is like where we are now, there wasn't many hella strong people but meh, everyone and their backgrounds XD Everyone wants to play the already powerful one with an advantage xD

Well, I already have it worked for him not to be able to contact his Zanpakuto, hence the lack of a shikai. His Bankai, I already have that sorted out, though I won't be putting it in because it'd be pointless with no shikai. So yeah, thanks for the advice, I think I'm ready to start hacking away at my CS.

I don't mean to interrupt your zanpakuto communication discussion, but I've been drifting in and out of this here OOC for the last few days debating on whether I should throw up a CS or not. I've been wanting to create my own Shinigami for a long time, however, I've noticed there are a lot of characters that are quite powerful. I'd like to take a more different approach to my character, and I'm open to any advice any of you can give on this subject. I pretty much want him to start off weak, so weak that he's an actual sorry excuse for a Shinigami. So, again, any advice would be helpful in making sure I don't make him stronger than I want him to start out being.

Hello and welcome Krinos ^_^ I'm one of two Co-Gms. Basically, with the power thing, it does seem like the majority of the characters are like that but not all :P My characters have all started out weak, and the one with power conceals it. Zane's characters aren't extremely powerful either so don't worry, not everyone in this RP is ridiculously powered ^_^ The way I started was to have my main character unable to contact her Zanpakuto so she didn't have a Shikai at first, that'd be a start ^_^ Then you could train your character or even get a Captain to help train you and eventually gain your Shikai. Your Shikai move don't even needed to be all decided at first, you can leave a few slots open to gain moves later on and the Bankai is the last thing to fill out since it'd be a while before it's gained so most people leave that out for a later time or for when inspiration hits :P

Shinigami actually are able to communicate with their Zanpakuto without using Jinzen, and vice versa. It's just not as clear as it would be when in Jinzen, though I think it does require more concentration or silence to hear your spirit clearly, but I don't think you can have full on conversations without using Jinzen as the signal would be sorta fucked without it.

I thought that the Zanpakuto spirits were extensions of the Shinigami's soul so they'd have a strong connection and communicating with them often either through mind or 'Jinzen' would keep the communication strong, and since they are extension of the Shinigami, it shouldn't be difficult to communicate through mind o.O
