Sitting alone on a bench at a baseball field in Midway City, Katie stares at the ground as she draws a shape in the ground with her foot. Yesterday she was suppose to go to some mansion to join a team of sidekicks as a sort of stepping stone to train and learn how to work together in an effort to become members of the Justice League. Sure, the idea seemed fantastical but in reality Katie didn't have any real desire to become a 'hero'. The only reason she agreed was because it gave her an opportunity to learn how to control what her new abilities were outside of lab situations. In her mind, the powers she was 'gifted' with were just a danger to those she cared about. She had to stay as far away as she could from her family in order to keep them safe from her. Yet, when she arrived in Midway City she felt unnerved at the thought of actually joining this so called team.

She knew that someone would come looking for her since she hadn't shown up at all. She wasn't sure if she desired to be found or not. The prospect of teaming up with others her age in a similar pursuit was appealing but she'd be the most out of place. At least that's what she kept telling herself in order to make the thought of ditching the whole thing more desirable. She sighed audibly when she sensed the familiar levels of energy coming someone flying up behind her. "Katie, you made a promise that you would be there."

Katie stood up turning to face her mentor saying, "I know and I apologize. But is it really the place for someone like me?" Atom shook his head looking at the girl who had a power similar in likeness to his own. "Look, I know you've had a lot of change in the past few months, but if you don't move forward through the hard times then whose to stay you won't stay stagnate when it's easy. Take what life throws at you and turn it into something for your benefit." The man looked at Katie hoping that what he said conveyed the meaning he was trying to get across. Katie sighed again saying, "Fine, I'll go to the mansion." Katie walked past the man waving bye before grabbing her bike off the fence and started peddling off.

_{Some time later}

Katie rode into the front yard of the mansion and leaned her bike up against the building. She walked up to the front door then, taking a deep breath, knocked on the door hoping that whoever answered wouldn't beangry with her for being so late.

Sorry for double post, but there is a risk of Cassie punching someone if she is in the wrong mood set at the wrong time near the wrong person acting in the wrong way which will rub her the wrong way and she be the embodiment of someone waking up on the wrong side of the bed. I may be wrong though.

Name - Katie Pruett

Alias - Quantum

Sponsor - Captain Atom

Personality - Courageous, Stubborn, Thick-Skinned

Experience - Only in lab situations.

Powers - Katie's powers are entirely energy based. She can control, absorb, project, and sense energy around her.

Weaknesses - Sometimes her perception of the energy around her can cause a form of sensory overload. Also if she uses her power to much she risks turning into energy herself.

BRIEF Bio - Katie's life was pretty average despite not having a father around. Her mother, older sister, twin sister, and she were always there to help each other. Katie became more of a tomboy in a way to help protect her sisters and mother. When the Reach came to earth she was the only one in her family that was skeptical. That is just her personality though. She is skeptical of everything she doesn't know or understand. However, she did drink the energy drink released by them. One day though she was grabbed by armed men and gathered into a group with many other people. That's when the Reach showed up, taking all the abductees, and began experimenting on them. They exposed Katie to various levels of energy, especially nuclear. Eventually a team of heroes showed up saving the abductees.

Weeks later during a checkup Captain Atom came to check on the progress of the abductees. When he got near to where Katie was she began reacting to some form of stimuli. The doctors quickly moved her to an examination room and Captain Atom followed. She started thrashing around in pain and Captain Atom moved to restrain her, but upon contact the energy in Atom was seemingly sapped from his body. He then collapsed and Katie nearly instantaneously calmed down. Everyone around realized that like a few of the other abductees Katie was developing abilities. For the next few weeks Katie was only allowed to use her ability inside a lab.

When the idea of Young Justice was brought up Captain instantly thought of Katie. At first the rest of the League was unsure if someone so inexperienced with their powers would be a right fit, but Captain Atom assured them that the best way for her to became experienced and for them to keep a close eye on her is if she was a part of the team.
