The Sleuth’s Report: Emerald City Stories

Seattle. City of Clouds. The Emerald City.. This city goes by many names. To those who live in this beautiful City by the Sea, it's simply "Home." Home to families, friends, doctors, lawyers, business owners. Also home to criminals—rapists, murderers, sex traffickers, child exploiters. Somewhere among those business owners and criminals are the detectives who live each day trying to keep this city of many names safe. These are the stories of those detectives...

Premise

The Sleuth’s Report is a modern-day detective roleplay set in Seattle, Washington. This will be an open world roleplay with guided support when needed.
You will play as detectives in the Seattle PD—free to decide where to go, who to talk to, what to investigate, and when.
I’ll be here to help guide you as needed through NPC interaction and story direction.

These are your stories, written in real time as you go. Every choice you make matters. Every action has consequences.

Now Recruiting: 4 Detective Players

This is an episodic roleplay. Each investigation will be its own self-contained story that we roleplay through to the end.
Once one case is solved, a new episode begins with a brand-new crime, setting, and mystery.
I will play the Chief of Police and handle NPCs to help support your work as detectives.

Basic Roleplay Guidelines

  • 1. Respect the Story and Each Other
This is a collaborative effort. Don’t jump ahead, control other characters without permission, or post without regard for others' pacing.
  • 2. No Metagaming
You're detectives—not psychics. You don’t magically know who the killer is or what someone will say.
Leave NPC actions and revelations to me unless stated otherwise.
  • 3. Quality Over Quantity
I’d much rather see one thoughtful, detailed post than a bunch of rushed, shallow ones.
    Keep things immersive and well-written.
  • 4. Teamwork is Key
You’re part of a unit. Coordinate with your fellow players—use PMs to plan scenes and combine posts.
Working together makes for better storytelling and deeper engagement.
  • 5. Have Fun
This is a game. If you’re not having fun, let me know—because that means I’m not having fun either.
Let’s work together to make this exciting and memorable for everyone.

“Some of us carry badges. Some carry scars. Most carry both.”

Once all CS are posted, I will randomly choose one CS - that CS will be the Lead Detective starting our Role Play. I will randomly pick each CS thereafter for each Rank. Depending on things with, and in the Role Play, there are possibilities of being promoted Ranks!

Here is a link to the manual for the Seattle PD for reference.

Let me know if there are any questions, or suggestions!
I see there’s only 8 IC posts so far; still have room more?
I'm interested.

Great! We technically only need probably two minimum, so we’ll see how much momentum we get and decide the total number from there.
This is an interest check for a roleplay from quite a few years ago that had a little interest but never came to fruition due to challenges in life at the time. I still have a desire to run this scenario now just as bad as I did then, if not more. So let's see how the interest goes this time!

I already have a CS ready for this, as well as the outline for the first investigation. This would probably be best kept to 3 - 4 players max. This is planned as a long term set of stories, continued through different investigations, or "episodes" once the previous investigation is completed (or left cold maybe?).

Hoping to get some real interest here, and I could have the OOC up by end of the night probably (I have a lot of the information complied already).
Intrigued by the setting. I'll keep an eye on this.
Oh I like the looks of this. Anything open still?

Edit: My bad, I see the “Full” flare now. DM me if anything changes!

This is full already, right? If you have a spot open up, let me know.
I don't know more than any of these guys or gals, so I'll keep my interest to partaking in the RP if you get something established. Big Fallout fan.
Thank you all for the welcomes!
Hello, Guild!

I am Alpha Romeo; you can call me AR for short, or Alpha. I am no stranger to the guild, though life has made me one in the past. I was an active user here many years ago before a wife, kids, and adult life dominated my time. I went by another name back then, but AR is my truest persona, thus the change in name was decided.

I always have the guild open in a tab no my cell phone, checking in to see what's happening around here every so often. I've felt the urge to return, but I just hadn't found the time or real motivation to bring me back. That changed recently however, and I decided it was finally time to get back in the action, as I have been dreaming of long lost lands, and worlds far far away. I have found myself looking for an outlet to transfer these dreams to something more tangible than just my thoughts throughout the days. I hope the guild can offer me that once more like it did so many years ago!

Here's a little bit about myself

Roleplaying career: I started roleplaying in the early 2000's when I was in my early teens and into my early twenties. I've taken part in many roleplays in the guild, but I've never tried my hand at GM of a roleplay, though this is on my bucket list! I've played a few different scenario, including "Star Wars", "Resident Evil", "Mass Effect", and some original creations to name a few. It has been a few years since I've been in an RP, but I've never lost my desire and imagination for roleplays.

Roleplaying preferences: I don't have a specific genre that I stick to solely. I'll play anything that has an interesting story, good mechanics, and seems to have a real direction by the GM; however in the past I have favored Sci-Fi, Zombies, Fantasy, and anything with an aspect of survival.

I prefer group roleplays, although I've never tried a one-on-one in the past, so maybe that's something to look for in the future! I like roleplays that aren't too fast to progress (my time between posts can be lengthy some times pending real world obligations), but also not too slow to where I have to check back week after week to see if anyone has updated yet. Layered stories with lots of lore definitely catch my interest the most. I enjoy reading about detailed characters and their back stories.

I'm open to any good fun ideas, so feel free to DM if you have any interesting openings!

Hobbies and interests: I am married with two (soon to be three!) kids, so my time is limited during the week, but I like to play sports, video games, and watching TV shows or a good movie with my wife!

I hope to roleplay with some of you soon!
