You are an animal.
Not just any animal, an animal living in the beautiful town of New Hawalouisansaskahi'o, and you want to get together with your pals and do something fun. You watch from the treeline of the park or the surrounding forest or from the local petting zoo and think to yourself:
These humansβI want to do what they do.
But, what
do humans do? You think you've seen one find one of those round, doughy discs they call a 'pizza', but you don't know what a pizza is, only that it smells like food. Pizzas look like they're hard to get, but you've also seen humans exchange green rectangles for a pizza. If only you could figure out where to find some of those.
You've seen a human lead another animal around by a rope. You wonder what it would be like to be at such a high point in the food chain to hold command over other animals. You think they call it a... 'dog'? It looks happy, but it poops a lot and can sometimes be a little mean.
The pictures you see of humans in beautiful black and white plumage, smiling and mashing their faces together in front of other humans. They really like to throw rice. Something in you stirsβa sense of happiness. You look at the human in between the grand-looking ones. It seems like they caused this happiness to occur. What if you could do the same? Also, what is a 'wedding'?
The possibilities of human life and action are endless in New Hawalouisansaskahi'o, and you want to explore what it means to be a human being. The question isβ
can you?PEACE WAS NEVER AN OPTION is a hyper-simple TTRPG system based off the PbtA framework. All you truly need are 2d6 to play. I will be your GM for this RP, however long it runs. You will all play an animal, selected from a cast of available animals in the system, each with their own specific and novel ability.
Inspired by elements of 'Over the Hedge', 'Goat Simulator', and 'Untitled Goose Game', this RP will see your characters attempting to do human things in the fictional (as if it wasn't obvious) town of New Hawalouisansaskahi'o. Ride the bus. Sneak into a movie. Go to a concert. Walk a dog. Attend a sales meeting. Campaign for office. Become the owner of the town. The possibilities are (almost) endless.
This (potentially) limited run of a story is looking for
four people maximum. Perhaps if it goes well, I might open up to future installments with new players and charactersβand see what emergent narratives pop up when building the lore of New Hawalouisansaskahi'o.
