I think Spider-Man has been a double edged sword in the human awareness of my kin, to be quite honest. On the one hand the character is a general triumph over willful arachnophobia. On the other hand, the comic still perpetuates negative stereotypes about spiders to it's readership. Especially the stereotype that we would bite humans without provocation. Why, it's hardly the case. As if we would waste a valuable resource like venom when one of the giants wasn't actively threatening us. Why, it's preposterous, I tell you! Absolutely preposterous. I'll have you know that human doctors are no arachnologists, so they can't be expected accurately identify a bite. And furthermore in the vast majority of reported spider bites, no one actually saw the spider! It's blind prejudice, pure and simple.

Other: Jerry is a very artistic type. He is always writing or drawing. He is even an artist in the kitchen. Ask him to make your favorite food, and you are not likely to be disappointed. Finally, Jerry is something of a hopeless romantic, yet incurably shy around the ladies.

On the one hand the character is a general triumph over willful arachnophobia. On the other hand, the comic still perpetuates negative stereotypes about spiders to it's readership. Especially the stereotype that we would bite humans without provocation. Why, it's hardly the case. As if we would waste a valuable resource like venom when one of the giants wasn't actively threatening us. Why, it's preposterous, I tell you! Absolutely preposterous. I'll have you know that human doctors are no arachnologists, so they can't be expected accurately identify a bite. And furthermore in the vast majority of reported spider bites, no one actually saw the spider! It's blind prejudice, pure and simple.</div></div></div>
