This was certainly someone who was interested in books, huh? A little at awe about how much of what she said went right over Arata’s brick-instead-of-brain head, the oni only smiled and nodded diplomatically as the girl went about, drawing out another colorful, slightly demented book from the library shelves. Looked like she was a regular at Liseranna Academy’s Library, huh? Wonder if she was friends with the spider lady. Arata scanned over the cover, only dimly comprehending all that she spat out about masterpieces and art museums. Looked like, to him, that the person was just depicting a bunch of random monsters.

“Well then,” the oni said, once she stopped herself, “I don’t know how to read, so I’ve just been willing myself to do so for the past hour. Can’t really say that I like picture books, but at least I can sorta tell what’s going on through them.”

He stuck out a hand over the table. “Name’s Arata, representative and sole survive of the Night Parade of One Thousand. And you are?”
