Danny - Confrontation

They filed out of the building, those of them already armed leading out in front, ready for the enemy that surely awaited them outside. Alex had spotted the group rushing to surround them, and everyone there knew that this was no doubt an ambush. With the side entrance drowned out in flames, Chris led the group in smashing through the front door of the building. He stopped in his tracks, his gun aimed ahead. Danny came in from behind him to assist, but felt his body freeze at the sight awaiting him-- Countless armed men and women aiming down on them from both across the street and in the building ahead. As the others followed, they became confused by Danny and Chris' responses, unsure if they should point their guns or just keep still.

Visible in the group on the ground was Jamie, one of the scouts who'd left with Enrique. Danny's blood ran cold as he imagined that the clue leading them to Baton Rouge had been a trap by Enrique all along. For that to be true, the man had to have acquired many more people during--

"Jamie!" Chris yelled, interrupting Danny's thoughts. He watched the bigger man roar with anger, forgetting all sense of logic as he ran across the street to confront the former scout. Danny could only watch, unable to speak, move, or do much of anything. His body felt numb and his senses had practically drained from his head. That he'd managed to land everyone in this situation was something he could barely comprehend.

A few of his group cried out as two shots were fired into Chris, one in his leg and the other in his shoulder. The big man crumpled to the ground, and Danny could hear his grunting over the fire raging behind him. "Drop your weapons!" Jamie yelled. "We have more explosives armed in the building behind you, and you all are still close enough to be caught in them!"

Danny stared, the rifle in his hands beginning to slip from his hands. He let it fall, and it clattered to the pavement below. During all of this, he hadn't been sure if he was supposed to be the leader of this group. He'd said a lot of words back at the cabin, but that's all they ever were-- words. He'd told them all this would be dangerous, but... what was this? Who were these people? Danny had never considered this to happen, but he knew he had let everyone down completely.

Shannon stepped up next to him, her own weapon gripped firmly in her hands. He felt her looking at him, looking down at the gun at his feet. He knew that his friend wanted to fight with every fiber of her being, but they both knew she couldn't. Not with James here and not with Danny having already given up.

Dropping her weapon next his own, Shannon raised her hands. "You next, James," she said.

Shannon - Cells - Rob/Alex/Zoe

She glared at the man sitting across from her, who glared back at her. They were sitting at opposite ends of a dusty grey cell, their bodies tired and worn out from being dragged about all day. Having been blindfolded on the way here, Shannon couldn't be entirely sure where she was, though she knew they couldn't have left the city. Judging by the cell, it was possible that they had been taken to a police station of sorts, though it was also possible Magnus and his group had installed the cell bars themselves.

Magnus. She had no idea who that was, but Jamie and the others that had captured them had mentioned the name. She figured he'd been there during the ambush, but the blindfold had been placed on her before anyone had spoken to him. Whoever he was, he'd been interested in keeping them relatively unharmed, for whatever it was worth. Aside from Chris being shot at-- Shannon had no idea if he was okay-- their captors had made an effort to treat them gently. At least until they were shoved into these cells. There were other ones they passed by, where most of Shannon's group had been placed. She'd lost sight of Danny and James as she was moved further into the facility, placed into this cell with this lone guy.

The guy in question moved his head now, seemingly examining her. He'd went from staring at her, to glaring at her, to pretending she didn't exist since she'd been here. Shannon didn't trust him, even if he was trapped here with her. It was just too bad for her he looked like he could easily take her with them both weaponless.

A sound from the hall caused them both to jump, Shannon moving to rise to her feet. Men and women in riot gear escorted Rob, Alex, and Zoe into the cell, crowding it. Shannon gave the trio a grim frown as she fell back into a sitting position, defeated. The stranger on the floor was giving Rob a look now, staring at him like he thought Rob was dangerous. It'd be foolish of him to try and attack Rob with all of them there, but who knew what this guy had been through. Shannon was ready for anything.

Tyler - Motel - Katie/Liam/Scarlett

Groggy from sleep, Tyler wearily splashed his face with water in the bathroom of his room. As the water dripped down into the sink, he looked himself in the mirror, unsure of who he was even looking at. It'd been a long time since he shaved, and it made him feel vulnerable now in a sort of way. Maybe that was why he did what he did the night before, and maybe that was why he hadn't been able to sleep last night. It certainly wasn't wrong of him to do, right? He'd wanted it-- he wasn't betraying Helen's memory. It's not like their marriage was the best, and he'd already betrayed her with Lynn if that was the case. No, what was bugging him was Scarlett's reaction. Even if Liam hadn't walked in on them, Tyler wasn't sure she would have liked to continue the moment any further. The woman was quite a bit younger than him, not to mention far more attractive. It was probably best if he didn't try that again, not for a long time anyway.

Finishing up in the bathroom, Tyler grabbed his knife before leaving the hotel room. Outside the door, he watched Katie knock on Scarlett's door across the balcony, and he smiled. Katie had mentioned something about 'girl time', which certainly meant no boys allowed. It'd be good for her to hang out with another girl. It had been a long time since Lauren was around.

George and Liam were supposed to be practicing-- It was Liam's insistence, even-- so Tyler decided he should be helping them out. He was sure George could teach the boy just well enough on his own, but Tyler wanted to supervise. It was probably the old him that made him feel that way, but he needed to be on top of everyone.

Moving down the stairs to the first floor of the motel, he turned toward the glass door separating the pool from the lobby, but stopped in his tracks at what he saw. Beyond the glass was George, being held by the intimidating man that had supervised the deal with Tina's group. He held a knife to George's throat. Beside him was Jon, who held Liam in his arms. He wasn't threatening the boy with a weapon, but he was armed nonetheless. Behind them were more men, and Tyler knew he'd not be able to take them on.

One of the men moved to open the glass door, and Tyler considered fleeing back up the stairs. He could possibly grab Katie and Scarlett in time to rush them to safety. George and Liam would be abandoned to these men, but was that really the worst thing that could happen? Better only two of them be captured than all of them, right? Whether he was being selfish or smart, Tyler didn't really care. Katie's safety came before all others, so he quickly moved to turn around and rush back up the stairs. He opened his mouth to shout Katie's name, but it turned into a wordless yell as he felt an unbelievable pain stab through his leg. He crumpled against the stairs, his face slamming against the metal steps. As he rolled down to the bottom, all Tyler could see were black spots dancing across his vision.

Tina - Apartment - Sam/Abram/Turisa

She shakily the fruit platter she'd prepared for the guests on the coffee table, her nerves shot to death. When Caleb brought up that they had met Scarlett, the group seemed interested in listening to them. Perhaps upset about the decision to kick Tyler and his friends out, Caleb insisted they take the group back with them to the apartment. He'd explained that, with them, they would be safer than they would be on their own. "We give Tremblay supplies so that they leave us alone," Caleb had explained. "With us, you'll be left alone as well."

Now, with everyone stuffed into the living room, Tina felt the awkward silence between both groups suffocating. Elyse was often a very talkative woman, but unfortunately she wasn't feeling well and couldn't join them. All Tina could do was smile and cut fruit. "So, uh..." Tina searched for something to say as she sat down on one of the couches next to Caleb. She looked toward the mural on the wall, sighing. "I like to paint... I wanted to do a portrait of your sister, you know... and her friends."

She nodded to the right side of the mural, which was mostly blank. What stood out were the crude paintings of people sitting amidst a flower field. Names were above their heads: Mommy, Dylan, Lauren, Bull, Daniel, Floyd, Emma. Above them were the sketchings of faces, these ones with their own names: Katie, Scarlett, Liam, Tyler, George, Jacob. "I wanted it to work out," Tina said, a tinge of sadness in her voice. "But they had to leave. I'm sorry you didn't run into her, Sam."
Name : Aubrey Diaz

Age : 19

Skill : Basic first aid and archery.

Weapon (up three): A black, modern, Recurve bow with 20 arrows in its quiver; as well as a tactical knife about seven inches long.

Personality :When first meeting Aubrey, it's easy to assume that she's timid and easy scared, but that's not the case for long. Aubrey can be stubborn and short tempered at times. If she thinks she is right, she won't back down from the argument. The sarcasm is strong in her and she won't make exceptions to who she uses it with. But this is only to people that she typically doesn't get along with. To those who know her, or those she thinks are worth her trust, she is funny and caring. The sarcasm still applies but she knows when to use it. Aubrey is loyal to those that show promise and will try to do everything in her power to help them survive. She used to be an outgoing girl, still having her outbursts here and there, but now she chooses to stay quiet and do things on her own.

Brief Bio: Aubrey was born to a wealthy family in McAllen, Texas. She had no siblings and the very few friends she had, she spoke to very little. Her time would be occupied with horse riding lessons, archery lessons, and school. Although her family had money, she still chose to work, helping out at the vet's office a few blocks from her house until she graduated from high school and left to college.

She attended Texas A&M up until the outbreak happened. Her family decided to go north, out of the state of Texas to see if they could find safety or refuge. Aubrey agreed to meet them at a certain point, but in the mayhem and fear that the others were causing, she got lost and ended up driving to Louisiana with a group of people making their way in a caravan of vehicles.

I will go ahead and say you can add this to the character tab.
Hi-- QT sent me here from the horribly failed totally fine while it lasted spinoff thread. Making a new character, and excited to possibly join such an established RP! (it's actually a little intimidating)

I was just wondering if there were any character tropes that were in demand? (to contrast the soldier/doc characters that you understandably don't really want anymore of)

Also, do we post CS's in the char section or is that for accepted characters only?

Only accepted characters. We're likely to accept you though, haha.

I can't say there's much we need. Anyone with a background that would give them combat/firearm/medical experience would be no good (So, like, even just a dude who hunts as a hobby).

I think low income individuals would be best, such as students/the unemployed/minimum wage workers.
Name: Cody "Doc" Heiler

Appearance:

Age: 20
Skills: Army Combat Medic (Marksmanship/Infantry tactics, Trauma Care and Medical training, Hiking/Camping)
Personality: Mature, cautious and logical as well as caring, protective and compassionate.
Brief Bio: Cody enlisted in the US Army as a Combat Medic when he was 18 and was preparing for his first deployment overseas when the dead rose. His unit was one of many assigned to protect the refugee camps across the United States, specifically one in Texas. Over the first few months of the outbreak, the camp repelled several assaults from both the undead and other humans, but with mounting casualties. Finally, about a month ago, the camp was totally overrun and nearly all of the inhabitants killed. Cody was one of the few who managed to escape the gory melee, bound for another camp in New Orleans. Though he sustained no physical injuries, Cody was left thoroughly traumatized by the incident and now suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as a result. Not long after entering Louisiana, Cody discovered the second refugee camp had been destroyed shortly after his and during the journey, his two fellow survivors died, leaving him alone and without direction in a dying world.

Eventually, Cody found himself at The Pub where he became fast friends with Hazel Lawrence and Meghan Cordon. After Sylar Macey brought a group of scouts to The Pub to carry out a mission, Cody joined them. When offered the chance to save the girl, Emma, Cody went for it.

Age: 31
Skill: George is skilful with auto repair and electronics, as he owned an auto shop. He is also decent at shooting.
Personality: George is a nice and charismatic individual.

Name: James Feryana

Appearance:

Age: 15
Skills: James is a really good liar, and is good at escaping things.
Personality: James is a kind, nice person, who likes to be outside. Well, he likes to be outside when he can be. James is a really shy and fearful person, who is made upset easily and easily cries. He is also really good liar, and tells lies to get himself out of things. Unfortunately, when you lie, this can lead to future consequences if the truth is revealed...
Brief Bio: James was a student at school. He always lied, and he always got out of things. When the walkers came, James was at home by himself. His front door was knocked down, so James took a sharp knife and ran out the back. James didn't know the fate of his parents at first, but he eventually learned that they had become walkers.

Alone and frightened, James ran into Shannon Greene shortly after she lost a friend of hers. Not wanting to leave the boy alone, she had him tag along with her, but the pair were soon attacked by Tyler's raiders. They escaped and eventually ran into Daniel Crowe, Amelia Stephens, and Polyester Homes. As Daniel's sister had been kidnapped by Tyler's raiders, the group travelled to Haywood to assist in their attack. After this, James became a citizen of Haywood and began to look up to Shannon as a mother figure. He was kept safe during the battle between Robert and Daniel with the help of Shannon and Daniel. After Tyler's attack on Haywood, James left Haywood with Shannon, Emma, and Valentina.

Name: Damian Copperton

Appearance:

Age: 28
Skill: Combat with his blades, Climbing/getting around, speed.
Preferred Weapon: A katana (or wakizashi's) named Penelope

Personality: Damian is quick to judge and quick to anger, though his ability to make decisions and form opinions quickly has certainly come in handy during the apocalypse. Small transgressions or mistakes on his part are quickly forgiven or forgotten, however he carries a major grudge towards large issues. Thanks to his skills, he is arrogant, but confident of himself ad his skills. His trust is a hard earned thing, however once one were to obtain it, one would be able to find a fierce and loyal friend or ally in Damian, protective of those he cares about and are worth it. His suspicion in strangers is high, and often is of the opinion that a job will only work well when he is the one doing it. His determination to survive knows few limits, though is guided by a strong set of morals still. His morals are not completely the same as everyone else sometimes tough, greed and self-preservation often getting the better of him. He will do what it takes to survive, but make sure that what survives remains worth fighting for.

Brief Bio: Damian is silent abut his past. Before the world went to hell, Damian was tangled up in the criminal underworld, involved in car thefts, pit fighting, drug deals and robberies big and small. The scars on his left arm even today are an indication that he used to be a drug addict. Thankfully, he managed to start to break free from his addiction before the outbreak, while afterwards there simply was no chance for him to relapse, ironically something that helped him break free from his less than perfect life even before it became a simple struggle for survival.
Name : Shannon Greene

Age : 23

Appearance :

She's a bit tall and slender for her age. She's about average weight for her height though, and she's got slightly toned legs/upper body through a regular workout she has. Most apparent about Shannon is her blonde hair. This is largely from her mother, though a touch of her father's red hair can be seen in the color of her own. Unlike her mother, who wears her hair far past her shoulders, Shannon chooses to keep her hair at shoulder length, or not much further beyond that. Her skin is rather pale and she tends to burn rather than tan when exposed to the sun.

Skill : Shannon likes to be athletic, and runs almost every day. She loves to look her best, and almost always eats healthy. She's also big into fashion, hoping to be a designer when she is older. Shannon is very good with her hands and has a good sense of technology/machinery. Her father always kept her informed of the kind of trinkets she worked with, and Shannon would often become pretty interested in his work.

Weapons :
- Knife (No serrated edge)
- 9mm pistol (little ammo)

Personality : Shannon has been described as "Perky and optimistic", which is quite the contrast when compared to her surly best friend, Danny. She has a sunny disposition most of the time, and tends to bottle her negative emotions away. It's because of this that Shannon isn't a big fan of drama. When people don't get along, it tends to get on her nerves. This is most apparent with her friend, Danny, who is a bit too surly sometimes for her liking. With most people, Shannon is perhaps a bit too agreeable, willing to stop what she is doing to go along with what she believes will make someone happy. The only person she tends to disagree with is Danny. Shannon fears not being important to anybody. She has a strong desire to be on good terms with people.

After the apocalypse started and Shannon found herself separated from everyone she cared about, her personality took a hit. The sunny disposition she was known for was now buried under some heavy sadness and hopelessness.

Bio : Shannon was an only child, born to two parents who never desired to have more than one child. Her father worked as a mechanic for as long as Shannon could remember, and her mom had always been in and out of waitress jobs. She stayed familiar with her parent's work, developing an interest in machines and technology from her father. When Shannon was in grade school, she met Daniel Heidecker, who she would always poke fun at. It wasn't until they were almost in high school that they became close. Danny was a bit less grumpy when he was younger and more accepting of the bubbly kind of person Shannon was. She liked to smile, always liked to smile. Her cheerful demeanor tended to rub off on her friends (even Danny, occasionally). Danny quickly became her closest friend, visiting her and hanging out with her whenever he could get a spare moment. However, Danny eventually became more closed off from others as time went on, and soon Shannon and her family were the few people he associated with. When Danny became estranged from his own family, he went to live with Shannon and her family. After high school, the pair moved to a different state to live with Shannon's pen-pal, Monica.

When the apocalypse started, Shannon lost her sometimes-kind-of boyfriend Brandon in the initial aftermath and she was forced to separate from her friend Monica. While attempting to get back to her parents, Shannon found herself separated from Danny as well. This greatly affected Shannon, who lost hope in getting in contact with her family. She's fallen in and out with various groups since then.

Name: Daniel "Danny" Heidecker / Rudy

Appearance:

Gender: Male

Age: 23

Bio: Of his family, Danny really only developed a bond with his younger sister, Joscelyn. He was never quite on the same level as his mother and father, who always seemed to want Danny to be something he wasn't. He was just never as smart as they wanted him to be it seemed. In some attempt to impress his parents, Danny started getting into sports when he got into high school, taking a particular interest in basketball and MMA. Through this, Danny found it easy to get friends. Still, in his senior year, Danny started to find himself closing off from most of the people he knew. The only person who was exempt from this sudden behavior was Danny's best friend, Shannon.

The pair had met in grade school and developed their friendship over time. It eventually got the point that Danny would spend more time at Shannon's than his own house. He enjoyed being around her parents far more than his own. It had been often whispered and joked about that Danny and Shannon were a couple, though truthfully their friendship had always been purely platonic.

For reasons known only to Danny, he had started acting out at home. He was never quite on good terms with his parents, but never to the degree of actively yelling at them. For a while, Danny's home life was a mess. When he realized this was negatively impacting his relationship with his sister as well, he started making plans to move out and live with Shannon's family. After a major falling out with his parents, Danny was quick to finalize the move. He lived with Shannon and her family for about a year, keeping in contact with only his sister. At 18, Shannon and Danny moved to a different state to live with Shannon's pen-pal, Monica.

When the apocalypse started, Danny and Shannon were forced to separate from Monica. While attempting to get back to Shannon's parents, Danny found himself separated from Shannon as well. Danny fell into despair for a time, believing Shannon to be dead. He eventually fell in with Myriah's group as they were initially starting Outpost. Danny came close to Myriah, who started calling him "Rudy" as a joke. Danny decided to keep the moniker and he eventually became known as Rudy amongst the people of Outpost.

Name: Tyler Salem / "Thomas Zuchowski"

Appearance:

Gender: Male

Age: 36

Bio: Tyler's life was wholly unremarkable before the apocalypse. He'd married his girlfriend, Helen, at 28 and came to live a middle-class existence with her and his two eventual children. He was a contract worker working in construction and his wife was an aspiring nurse with a small growing hobby as an author. Tyler didn't have the closest relationship with his parents, but the death of his mother when he was only 35 inspired Tyler to work toward a greater relationship with his father.

The apocalypse a year later put a stop to all that, where Tyler's father was one of the many initial victims of the outbreak. Tyler managed to get his family to a refugee camp, where he believed they would be safe. The situation around them quickly deteriorated and the refugee camp became smaller and smaller. A giant horde finally finished the camp off for good and took the lives of Tyler's wife and son. Tyler and his little girl, Katie, fell in with the other survivors. Tyler swore to protect his daughter from the horror surrounding her.

Their group were a disorganized mess at first, losing and gaining members haphazardly. Leadership of the group fell on many different individual's shoulders. When it finally landed on Tyler's shoulders, it was his status as one of the original members and a family man that put him there. He didn't desire to lead at first, and the few deaths the group suffered under his care only made Tyler dislike the position more. Eventually, Tyler saw his role as more of a protector and a leader, and he wanted to protect his people like they were family. It was around this time that a man named Brad joined the group, who quickly fell in awe with Tyler. Unfortunately, further death put the group at odds. They suffered bandit attacks and suffering at the hands of other humans.

Around the time a woman named Lynn joined the group, Tyler suffered betrayal by one of his group members, who stole supplies and ran off on his own. Tyler became depressed and vulnerable within his position as leader. He bonded with Lynn and eventually started a relationship with her. Still, his people were displeased, so after a large chunk of them went off on their own, Tyler decided he had to lead the group with a heavier hand. The group grew upset with Tyler getting harder on them and they lashed out, making him turn further into a dictator. Eventually, the kinds of people that tolerated Tyler's behaviour were mostly men with shady morality. Tyler came to believe this was the only way for his group to survive, but he was still upset with the world around him. Tyler wondered if he could change it all.

Tyler was initially encouraged by Lynn to work toward a better future, but Tyler came to believe that future was unobtainable with the rotten people all around him. Betrayal eventually was met with death, and Tyler thought of a plan to ensure the survival of the next generation-- his daughter's generation. His group came to clear the catacombs underneath New Orleans, where Tyler eventually began to bring girls so that he could get them pregnant and raise their child in the manner he felt was best for the future. Tyler kept his daughter Katie locked away in the catacombs to shield her from what he had to do. Eventually, Tyler realised that the men working for him were restless and unpredictable. When even threats of execution didn't keep them in line, Tyler was forced to construct an arena for them to entertain themselves with. Even more, Tyler let the men have sex with his pregnant women. It was necessary, he believed, for the future he envisioned.

Lynn, already disgusted by Tyler's actions, felt that this was the final straw. She left the group and Tyler grew furious. He killed anyone that supported Lynn and sent a group after her, though they were unsuccessful in their search.

Tyler continued this way of life until he came across a man named Bruce Levi, the mayor of a community called Haywood. The two struck a deal where Levi would secretly give his women away to Tyler in exchange for supplies. This deal continued uninterrupted until the people of Haywood discovered Levi's secret and overthrew him. They sought to eliminate Tyler and planned an assault on his catacombs. Just before the attack, Tyler managed to capture Lynn, though he was ultimately unsure what to do with her. He hated her for leaving, but he still cared about her in some way. Still, he put her into his arena to entertain his men, believing Lynn was ultimately strong enough to survive. During Haywood's attack, Lynn escaped from her prison and revealed to Tyler she had been infected in the arena. She attacked him as she turned and began to overpower him. Brad saved Tyler's life and killed Lynn, but was bitten by her as a result. Tyler was then forced to kill Brad.

The attack resulted in many of Tyler's men being killed and the walkers in the arena being let loose. The walkers ended up killing his women, ending Tyler's hope for the future. One of Tyler's raiders, Lauren, had grown upset with Tyler and escaped with his daughter during the assault. She and her boyfriend Bull managed to survive with Katie in tow. Tyler, on the other hand, found an injured man, Enrique. Tyler told the man that his name was Thomas and that he was a prisoner. The pair then escaped the catacombs with one of Tyler's men, Bex, who went along with the charade.

A few weeks later, Tyler and his trio sought to enter a community called Outpost. Tyler now called himself "Thomas Zuchowski". Eventually, the three were let in and Tyler became a member of the community's scouts. He met a man named Matt who was tired with the leadership of Outpost and wanted more power. Tyler worked with him to frame the leader of the scouts, Reggie, for murder and mutiny. Matt became known as the man to take down Reggie and Tyler became the new leader of scouts due to his work in taking down Reggie and the friendships he had made.

Tyler then wanted the scouts to attack Haywood, where he believed his daughter had been taken. Matt convinced Outpost's council to approve of the idea and the plan was in motion. The stand-off between the scouts and the people of Haywood resulted in Lauren being murdered under Tyler's orders and Tyler's duplicity soon after coming to light. Still, Tyler managed to escape with his daughter, the person that mattered the most to him. He realised his mistake in hurting countless people to attain some hope for the future when his hope for the future had always been his little girl. Tyler then left New Orleans with Katie and travelled North, where they eventually came to Baton Rouge.

OOC Chat
Samantha - drive way - Abram/Tina/Turisa

Samantha had stayed behind Abram for the most part, but she kept Leah in front of her, wanting to protect her from both in front and behind. Her eyes darted from the strangers to Abram, worried that either one of them would do something irrational.

"Shelter?" Sam looked up at Abram, confused as to why some strangers would offer them shelter. "Abram... What about Jess?" For the first time since the encounter, the young woman spoke up and stepped out from behind both Leah and Abram, giving the woman named Tina and her companions a once over. "Can we trust them?" Her words were laced with fear and uncertainty as she spoke, yet her demeanor gave nothing away.

Tina - Streets - Abram/Turisa/Samantha

A tense moment passed between the two groups. It was silent, everyone waiting on Abram to make a call. However, before he could say anything, Jace spoke up, asking, "Have I met you before?" He was looking at Samantha, squinting at her features. Tina gave him an annoyed look before giving the girl a closer look herself. She did look a little familiar, in fact--

"Are you Sam?" Caleb asked, confirming Tina's thoughts. The girl looked enough like Scarlett to be related to her, and that Scarlett had been looking for possibly meant that this was the one. "And the girl you're all looking for... is her name Scarlett?" Caleb added, connecting the dots further.

Okay, so, Danny's group are timeskipped to Baton Rouge.
Tyler - Motel - Scarlett

"Guess he thought ahead," Tyler said slowly, trying not to giggle at Scarlett's delicate touch. "I'll shut up, sorry." His eyes watched her as she moved back and forth, setting up a rhythm between washing the blade at scraping at his beard. He tried to keep quiet, but he found himself giggling once again, shaving cream falling to the floor from his movements. Tyler figured Scarlett would think he was drunk at this rate, considering he was normally not one to be giddy.

But, being here, in this moment, Tyler felt something powerful about it. It was one of those times in one's life that felt like it meant something compared to all the other chaotic moments. The stars were aligned, and Tyler felt oddly fulfilled. He'd tried so hard-- too hard-- to obtain this kind of feeling; Clumsily flailing his arms at everyone and everything in an attempt to achieve some amount of inner peace. Perhaps if only Tyler had not been made the leader of that group, if he and Lynn had gone off on their own with Katie to some far away place, then perhaps Tyler would have found this kind of moment sooner.

Strangely, Tyler was unsure he'd ever felt this kind of moment when living with Helen.

Scarlett asked him to lower his head, so he did so obediently. He felt a flush rise up from his, heating his face and turning it red. Maybe Scarlett would think it was red from the hot water, or maybe she really would think he was drunk. Was he drunk? "Scarlett," he said, reaching up and gently taking one of her hands. "Just leave it, okay?"

Silence. Tyler's head was still lowered, even with Scarlett's. He wasn't sure if this was a right or wrong thing to do, but Tyler figured he hadn't cared about that for a long time now. Gently, ever so slowly, he leaned in to kiss her.

Tina - Front Lawn - Abram/Sam/Turisa

That made Tina pause, her arms lowering slightly. "Looking for people?" A shudder ran up her spine at the thought. Had Tremblay captured more people? Either way, it meant this group didn't intend to leave. Just looking at man standing before her, Tina knew he wasn't one to speak lightly. It bugged her that he didn't care for her warnings, but what could she do? She'd given the warning-- how he proceeded from here was on him and his group.

"Tina," Caleb said, giving her a vexed look. "This is ridiculous." He stepped forward, moving to lower Tina's weapon to the ground. Looking toward Abram, Caleb offered an apologetic smile. "We're sorry about this. We're just on edge. We're not kidding when we say some bad people hang out around here." He paused, seeming to think something over. Tina saw it on his face-- Caleb was about to do something she wouldn't like. Though, she had to admit his Southern drawl made him sound rather sincere. "We'd like to help. You have no reason to trust us, I know, but we're tired of dealing with this. We can shelter you."

Tina glared daggers at the back of Caleb's head. "Caleb..." she said with a sigh. "Well, he's right. We're not here to hurt you. If we were, we wouldn't have bothered to talk."

Monica - Streets - Emma

She sharply breathed in, moving away from the car to hold Emma by the shoulder. "Oh, honey, it's okay. I have supplies, but we have to hurry." She moved forward now, guiding Emma around and back toward a collection of buildings. "I was waiting nearby, hoping I'd find an opportunity... but the explosions... the fire." In the darkness, the woman noticeably shuddered. "We'll rest for the night, and you can stay as long as you want. Give it a day, and then I'll try and find Danny, okay? I know he's coming."

Danny - Office Building/Baton Rouge - Alex/Zoe/Andrew/Rob

They'd entered Baton Rouge only the day before, hot on the heels of Enrique's pack, or so Danny hoped. They'd found a small office building to settle in to plan their next move. Scouring a city for a group that could move on at any moment would be no easy task, and Danny didn't think it would be possible to follow Enrique any further if they were to lose him now. They'd arrived late in the evening-- far too late to do any serious searching. Besides, a few of the team were exhausted and needed some time to rest.

That didn't stop Danny from staying up late into the evening, a candle lit beside him to illuminate a map of Baton Rouge. They'd picked it up at a gas station on the way into the city. Others joined him occasionally as they plotted a steady route throughout the city. If they wanted to do an effective search, they'd need to split up. Danny was just thankful they had the two vehicles.

"Everything good?" Elliot signed as he entered the room. Danny gave him a weary smile and rubbed at his eyes.

"Nope. Briefed the others on what we're doing tomorrow, but I'm not sure if it'll even fucking work out." Sighing, Danny looked back at the map for a moment, finally choosing to fold it up and put it away. He turned back to Elliot and said, "You know you should be sleeping, right?"

Elliot rolled his eyes. "Can't sleep. Actually kind of excited. We have to save that girl, you know?" He moved forward and sat beside Danny, resting one arm on the desk. He was about to sign more when Shannon ran into the room.

"I saw movement outside," she breathed, pointing to the next room. She looked alarmed, her eyes wide and a rifle gripped in her hands. Danny nodded and followed her into the next room while Elliot tagged along behind them. At the window, Shannon nodded to the building across the street. He couldn't see much in the darkness, but a pair of binoculars that Shannon handed him showed him clearly the room in question. From the corner of the window he saw the unmistakable sight of a gun barrel. It could have meant one person, or it could have meant an entire group, Danny couldn't be sure.

He rushed back down the hall and into the room where everyone was resting. "Everyone, get up!" he cried. He waited for everyone to start rising from their sleep before adding, "Might be nothing, but I need you all awake in case--"

A deep bang and rumble shook the building, causing Danny to almost fall to his feet. A second occurred soon after, sending Shannon beside him falling to her knees. Before Danny could even understand what was happening, he realized he smelled smoke. "Fuck! Everyone out! We have to evacuate the building!"
