Myriad Reality

Many of you reading this interest check may have seen Myriad Reality when browsing the site--perhaps you noticed how long it was, or how often posts were being made. Perhaps you wondered how it had gotten so long--its roleplayers posted so often; they must not be very good at it. And these are all perfectly valid concerns at first blush--after all, most of our posts have very few lines. We don't have much description. Action is limited to asterisks. We don't use third-person, or any person at all! Perhaps you might have thought that the roleplay has little meat to it. After all, shouldn't good roleplays have long posts with much description?

But Myriad Reality is not as it seems. Not at all. There's a reason why our posts are the way they are. There's a reason why we don't seem to have any kind of leader. We hope to answer all your questions and more. So now let's explain...

Myriad Reality: A World for Thinkers.

Myriad Reality is more than just a roleplay. It's a world. And it's not just any world--it's a multiverse, a Myriad Reality of worlds. Here, our characters come together in a vast scope and work together to save Existence from threats created by all of the players--because in Myriad Reality, there's not one single plot to stick to. Here, we all have our villains. We all have our heroes. And we all influence each other.

In Myriad Reality, we don't have to fear that we'll stray from some predetermined plot. There's no forced path to go down. Big Brother is not watching you--instead of having to follow a strict path, we as players have to adapt our own plots to the other characters. We need to be prepared. We need to think about it. Here, there is a chance of failure. You don't just know that everything will work out perfectly in the end--you have to make it happen. You can't afford to be complacent when everything is at stake.

In Myriad Reality, you make the world go round.

But, you might ask--if we all have our own plots and none of us know how each other's will play out, how does our GM keep order? It must be absolute chaos. But we don't have a GM to keep order or direct the RP. We keep order amongst ourselves. We make decisions together and keep each other in line. We've been at this for more than two years--we've developed a mutual trust that allows us to function without spiralling out of order.

Two of us joined this roleplay almost two years ago. As time passed, those two eventually gained that trust and became full-fledged members of the roleplay--and one of those writes these very words.

For in Myriad Reality, eventually, you rule.

I was going to include a good portion of lore. Like, a list and short description of some factions/groups, list some examples of weapons like the Ancient Swords, Artifacts, and some technology. List examples of plots we've done before/are still doing. That sort of thing.

And I like the slogan "A World for Thinkers."

I guess I'll start writing an interest check for us, or at least part of one if you want to help.

Of course we must all help. I'm going to run through the same process that I ran through when we created a first post. What do we want to include? We know that we want to include aspects of this RP--we need to say how we all create our own plots. There's no GM. We should talk about our style of posting and why we do it. We should explain how we're all about understanding. We should talk about the power level. We should mention dedication. Anything else we want to include?

Yes. But we've already tried interest checks for this thread. I see how much success that endeavor had.

I would suggest talking to the people from that Hell's Coffee Lounge RP, as they seem to be the only other speed-posting RP on this site, though they still vary drastically from us in many ways.

But that was made quickly, out of desperation. We're regrouped now. We're calm. Things are going great. Now we can look for new players without panicking. We can come up with something, together, that really captures the essence of this RP.

Also, the people at Hell's Coffee Lounge are severely lacking in grammatical skills and especially capitalisation.

Five. There's five of us. I propose that today we begin an endeavour to create an interest check that shows who we want and what we're all about. We need to show people what this mystery, this Myriad Reality is. Many people look at our RP and wonder what it is. They look at our posts and it seems a mystery. We have to let people know what's happening here so it isn't a mystery any more.
