I've been wrestling with this RP idea for well over a year. Please read along with an open mind:Your character, will be a normal person from the "real world". This character of yours can be from anywhere on the globe. Furthermore, he or she can be from any time period past or present, but not future. In other words, as long as your character comes from an actual time and place in human history, you're good, but no magical fantasy lands or speculative future worlds. The
magic and adventure will unfold throughout this RP.
Now, the plot. All characters will start the same way. They will wake up in a strange utopian city, gaining consciousness on any random sidewalk. They will find themselves to feel completely refreshed, without hunger, thirst, or sickness of any kind. Even life long terminal illnesses and scarred or dismembered bodies will be inexplicably healed. As you wander the city, you will find many joyous people living picture perfect lives in a society without currency, conflicts, or hardships of any kind, as well as worldly pleasures abound. You will have no recollection of how you arrived in this strange paradise like world, and you will recognize nobody. As you can imagine, your situation, the situation of all players, begs many
questions... questions with hazy answers.
So that's the plot, or at least how the plot begins. Now for the structure of the RP itself. After creating a character and being approved in the OOC section you may begin your first post in the IC thread. Your first post would obviously be where you will establish your character and how he or she is grasping the situation. From there, you and all other players will be able to interact in a normal tavern like setting without a driving plot, with the entire city as your area to do so. More information on the aesthetics and lore of the city will be added later.
At a certain point I will halt acceptance into this forum, after a certain number of characters are created or a certain time period elapses. People admitted during this time will be considered the "First Wave". Then I will create a plot moving mission in which all characters will be able to participate. This "mission" will be linked to a separate IC thread. People may chose to build a party to go on the adventure together, or go solo. In other words, if six people are in the "First Wave" and four of them have started to interact while the other two have kept to themselves, there may be three separate IC threads for this one mission. Regardless of your party size, you will face similar adversities as the mission itself is the same.
Once this initial mission is completed, it will expand the lore of the RP. Also, all characters that completed the mission will also gain experience and special "skills". New missions will also open up after this first one and be conducted in a similar manor. Experience will determine which missions your character will be allowed to participate. In other words, there will be one main RP where people interact freely. That RP will link off to numerous other RPs that are mission specific.
Later, depending on demand, I may re-open the admission into this RP world thus creating a "Second Wave" of characters. Conversely, I may close the RP to new characters. Each time I close and then re-open the RP it creates a "New Wave", but the demand must be even higher than the time before for me to re-open the RP.
