@Demon Shinobi Nah, don't worry about it. You didn't read it wrong. All that stuff had happened befoe Niti ran off in some random direction. No place specific so it would make sense that he would run into Nicolas.
I'm currently writing the post; although, I might just have to have Niti do a one-sided quick conversation with Nicolas and a quick heal. Then I might have to do a three minute time skip for my post so that Niti is sulking in the library to make it more in line with Saltwater Thief's post.
Datura raised an eyebrow at the sudden appearance of Sylvester. She was nearly attempted to shade her eyes as the explosion-obsessed maniac almost seemed to sparkle at the mention of rainbows and happiness. With a quiet scoff, she brushed past her male companions and carefully tread the path deeper into the forest. She wasn’t quite eager to become chow for more demonic deers, but there was no point goofing with these fools.
[Rolled 6. Power roll!]
The quack doctor turned at the curve of the path and gasped. In front of her was a ruined wagon with broken boxes and junk scatter all about. Quickly, she ignored the giant claw marks on the ground and some of the blood splatters neared the mess, and made her way to an ox that was lazing nearby.
“Oh, you poor thing! Who dare abandoned you?” She cooed and hugged it around its neck. The ox just stared dully at the trees, not giving a crap.
“I’m taking him with me! No one eats him!” Datura declared and hopped onto its back which took a bit of effort. Smoothing out her clothes, she crossed her arms. “I was getting tired of walking anyways.”
@Saltwater Thief Hey, don't worry about it. You haven't been a jerk to me at all. In fact, I think you provided a good character development opportunity for Niti. He considers himself a failure when his magic wasn't able to heal Jeanne and a stranger have to do the job for him. With this, he'll strive even harder to be a better healer - something he's been aiming for a long time. He was never suppose to be cool since we got enough badass characters all about. He's just silly and overly dramatic at times; although, hopefully have a few cool moments. xD
Yeah, I'm cool with that. I was planning on having Niti confront Anna eventutally.
EDIT: Maybe they can build a bond while doing so since he never met Anna before.
Appearance: A young man standing at 5’8” with lightly tanned skin, Riyu has a lean yet muscular frame with callused hands and feet brought by many years of mountain climbing and a wide variety of sports. His naturally black spiky hair comes in a crop cut and looks almost midnight blue under most lights. His eyes are dark brown.
His wardrobe consists of simple clothes of solid colors – mainly orange, white, and black. He could be found wearing black fisherman pants that fall below the knee, a sleeveless black mock turtleneck, and a white fur-trimmed vest with an orange Poké Ball logo on the back. Both hands are covered in hand wraps, and his shoes are well fitted for traveling. On his narrow waist is a white and orange belt with pouches that carries his berries, tools, and Poké Balls.
Around his neck is a thin forest green scarf with outlines of stars patterning the whole fabric. Every once in a while the image of Jirachi could be seen peaking from in between the folds.
Personality: Riyu tries to portray himself as steadfast and reliable. Although quiet, he is a determined young man who places others before himself. He is quick to lend a hand yet also swift to turn down any form of help. It’s a habit he refuses to change until, more often than not, people started to smack him on the head for being so stubborn.
Unexpectedly, he can be a complete pushover. He dotes on those he cares about, going so far as to go along with their whims. He is known within his household for spoiling his younger brothers and even becoming a victim of their fashion make-over more than once much to the horror of their father; although, in Riyu’s honest opinion, a guy can look good in a dress. His self-esteem doesn’t go down that easily; in fact, those incidents boosted it.
Despite his confidence in his abilities, Riyu has doubts about his future. He holds great respect for people who knows what they want and who they want to be. However, he looks down on those who mess with the bonds between humans and Pokémon, or any bonds in general.
While he may be calm in the direst of situations, his inability to strategize can get in the way. He has a tendency of rushing off into battles and believes that hitting hard enough would do the trick which very much resembles how he treats electronics whenever they malfunction.
Profession: A novel Trainer
Talents: Through training regime he often does with his dad, Riyu is fairly active and quite athletic. He is faster than most normal people and could undergo strenuous activity for extended periods of time. However, he is not by any means a martial artist or the likes.
Thanks to his dad’s occupation as a Ranger, Riyu is well-versed in the usage of Berries. He could differentiate which berry is which with just a glance.
Starter Pokémon: A level 5 Ralts named Mei. Mei’s ability is Synchronize, and her moves are Growl and Confusion.
Inventory: • 5 Poké Balls • 10 Oran Berries • 5 Sirius Berries • 5 each of Pecha Berries, Rawst Berries, and Cheri Berries • 5 Lava Cookies • 3 sets of his preferred clothing, one other outfit for colder climates, and one set of pajamas • A standardized white PokéNav • 2 Escape Ropes • A wallet containing P$ 1600 in cash • A small first-aid kit
Hometown: Lavaridge Town, Hoenn Region
Biography: Riyu was born and raised in Lavaridge Town as the eldest of three children to a retired Coordinator and a Ranger who patrol Mt. Chimney and nearby caves. He spent the entirety his childhood looking out for his younger brothers (who were twins), tending to his mother’s Delcatty, and tagging along with his father in mountain climbing and hiking up Mt. Chimney.
While his younger brothers were quickly taken to the idea of Coordinating and were brought under their mother’s wing, his father took Riyu under his and showed him the ropes of exploration and berries. Due to his father’s protective nature and the dangers of the job, he never took him out on Ranger missions or anywhere too far from town, traveling only as far as to Mt. Chimney. Unlike his brothers who dreamed of high-rising stands and spotlights beaming over their heads, Riyu took life as it is. Instead, he would climb the sizzling cliffs of Mt. Chimney or lose himself in the caverns of Fiery Path with steam pressing against his exposed skin.
His parents grew worried when his younger brothers took off into the world at the age of fourteen while Riyu remained at home. Their eldest became restless, often leaving the house for hours at a time until he would come back late at night with distant eyes. When asked about his dreams and aspirations, Riyu lightly bit his bottom lip and shrugged nonchalantly. Dunno, maybe climb Mt. Chimney again and visit that nearby desert, he answered to which his parents exchanged concerned looks.
Three months before his 17th birthday, the twins came to visit… with an egg. Before Riyu could even ask, they shoved it into his chest and demanded he hatch it since it was his early birthday present. With that said, they ran off to explore the world, leaving the eldest son in a stupor. Left with nothing else to do, Riyu looked after the egg with care. He would bring it to the hot springs every chance he could get and watch over it as it was covered in the warm sands near the springs. It didn’t take long for the egg to hatch and a small Ralts emerged from its shell. Riyu quickly ran home with the newly hatch Pokémon, named Mei, in his arms. His parents were ecstatic as their son and Mei quickly became close since the little Pokémon was well in tuned with his emotions; however, they were soon troubled when Mei started showing the same restlessness as Riyu.
The day after his birthday, his parents handed him a ticket straight to Sengun. Wanting their son to have a fulfilling life, they explained that there is more to life than just climbing the same mountain. He needed a purpose. Some kind of motivation. What would be better in finding a new purpose than by challenging the newly made Sengun league? But, still, Riyu was set in his ways and was about to refuse when the tickets were quickly swiped from the table. Mei held the tickets close to her body as she tugged eagerly at Riyu’s pants. She shoved the tickets back into his hands. Hearing her eager voice and the frantic tugging of his pants, Riyu was instant jelly in her hands. Maybe... Maybe the journey wouldn't be so bad. Maybe he would a new purpose there. He quietly held Mei in his arms, packed up his stuff, and made the call to Ilex Laboratories.
Niti was slowly calming down as he hugged Yuuka’s legs. He always did prefer the Wood Dragon Slayer among his teammates; although, he wasn’t sure why. Maybe it’s because she was closest to his age or that she was the only other that wasn’t an S-Classed Mage in his Lamia Scale team? Or it could just be the smell of flowers that complimented his soapy scent. Well, whatever the reason, he was content distracting his mind with Yuuka’s company while ignoring her discomfort.
However, Jeanne appeared, walking right through the doors. Niti tensed against Yuuka’s leg, offering the Archangel a welcoming yet anxious smile. He broke out into a nervous sweat when Jeanne started to approach him and started to reach into her bag.
AH CRAP. IT CAN’T BE! Niti quickly shielded his eyes. His attempts were all in vain as a delicate scent of sweetness wafted by. Unable to resist such lures, he peered between his fingers. A perfectly baked cupcake with luscious buttercream and cake so red was held in her pale hands.
His smile faltered as he reluctantly took the gift. “I-- Oh, Jeanne… You shouldn’t have.” And she really shouldn’t have as tears started to flood from his eyes once again. The cupcake was not the only thing weighing down on his hand. “I… I didn’t save you. I mean, you pretty much healed yourself...” Well, to be more specific, Jeanne’s weird glowing locket did it. With Anna’s help.
He inwardly cursed whatever higher forces were stabbing at his wounded pride with sugary baked goods. His sweet tooth was itching for a bite while his pride just wanted to throw the cupcake at Anna’s face. Stupid Anna with her stupid secret! With torn glances between Jeanne and Yuuka when the Wood Dragon Slayer asked what's the matter, Niti lightly bit his lips.
“I can't say, Yuuka, but... I don’t deserve this cupcake!” A waterfall of tears streamed from his eyes. He started to run off once again in a dramatic manner; although the cupcake was still in his hands. “I’ll heal you next time, Jeanne! I promise!”
“It’s not here either…” Niti sighed, shutting a 1000-paged medical book with a sound “thud.” He shoved the massive book to the side and moved on to the next one that was equal in size and weight. However, he became unfocused and his eyes kept drifting to the side, staring at the shelves of books that lined the walls of Lamia Scale’s library. He groaned and threw back his head. It was no use, none at all!
“IT’S NOT FAIR.” His head smacked against the opened book, flailing his arms all about against the newly abused table. As much as he like Lamia Scale as a secure refuge, heck, even as a second home, going to other guilds was just so much more exciting. Just imagine all the bar fights he could experience and all the healers he could extort/pester ask for teachings. Harpy’s Wing was his first choice for their renowned fabulousness and flare. There was even a White Dragon Slayer, known for her powers in healing and support. Viper Bolt was a close second; he could practice his healing magic whenever a fight broke out.
Oh well, having the exchange students was close enough to the real thing. People do make a guild after all. Xavier, Nicolas, and Reina were pretty cool people.
But, still, an exchange program! Instead of being shipped to other guilds, he was stuck here with no distractions. Left to his thoughts while surrounded by piles of books. Books that could never clue him in about the mysterious light from Jeanne's locket.
It had already been a week since the whole Augustine whirligig and he still couldn’t stop the curiosity that kept drilling its way into his head. His mind kept flashing back to that time especially near the end. No matter how much magic he poured into his spell, Jeanne refused to heal. He could even feel his magic being blocked by a “You shall not pass!” sign in bright neon letters. If it weren’t for Anna…
Niti bit his bottom lips. If he couldn’t use his magic to do his job, what use is he to the team?
As his amber gaze casted to and fro the library, all he saw was a deep void that lacked distractions. Tears started to gather at the corner of his eyes. His chair clattered from behind as Niti stood with lightning speed and was already out the door before a single shush from the other occupants of the library could be uttered.
“Yuuuuukaaaa! Give me something to do!” He ran around Lamia Scale until he would stumble upon the Wood Dragon Slayer. As soon as he sees her, he would cling to her legs like a sulking child.
Honestly... I have no idea. But I would expect it'll take some time since the rate of healing depends on the amount of magic Niti currently has and just how badly injured Jeanne is. Although he's skilled at healing, his magic is running low since it went to that barrier. Jeanne did nuked herself... How much damage did she take?
Also, thanks! I'm not very good at describing things in a pretty way, but I'm working on that.
A steady voice called out. Niti made his way across the barren crater as he could still feel the heat rising from the ashen ground made by a catastrophic attack. He looked even paler than before; his skin looked as if it was drained of blood. Red hair stood prominent against the dark ground and even more blackening skies. Having to reinforce the bubble barrier and making sure it holds as long as possible was no easy feat. It did a number on Niti and his magical reserves, but that didn’t stop him. If his guildmates are on the battlefield, then this is where he stays – right along with them in this mass of chaos.
Steadily, his gaze shifted from the brilliant series of onslaughts in battle to Jeanne who slept on a bed of overwhelming petals. He didn’t even need to look at her to tell that her own flesh was burnt since, no matter how many cherry blossoms were in the air, it could never mask the scent of burning hair and skin set ablaze.
“Hana, help the lovely archer. You can leave Jeanne with me. So…” Niti let out an obviously forced grin and innocently tilted his head. However, forcing happiness was too much effort as he instantly dropped the look, opting for peeved instead. “Make sure you kick that falsified god’s ass off his copper throne. Jeanne… “ He trailed off as he leveled eyes with Hana. “…She was hurt from all his god crap.”
Niti quickly turned away from the battle, focusing on Jeanne. He took a deep breath, readying himself as he concentrated his magic.
“Healing Chrysalis.”
With a swipe of one hand over Jeanne’s battered body, a large number of bubbles were conjured. All together, they wrapped themselves around the Archangel until her prone figure was completely submerged in bubbles. The bubbly bath shined with luminance despite what little light the sky has to offer. A few petals from the flower bed floated within, adding an aromatic factor, while the bubbles pushed against the injuries and any tensed muscles. Not only was this spell like a massage to a weakened body, the soapy substances also acted as gentle disinfectants to the wounds and increase the healing rate exponentially.
Whatever attacks that may come, the bubbles that had encased her would be her cocoon – protecting something precious until the living treasure blooms anew.
