Welcome to Caligo University, where Southern Pride and Honor are part of the school tradition. Here in the cozy town of Caligo, Alabama, you'll have a college experience unlike no other! We are so thrilled that you have decided to officialize your enrollment at this prestigious university and look forward to seeing you on our beautiful campus. This detailed pamplhet will outline some of the most important parts of being a student here. We advise that you explore its contents thoroughly in order to be properly prepared for this next big step in your life. Congratulations and welcome again!

Rules

Yeah, rules. Nobody likes 'em, but we need 'em. These aren't rules so much as they are guidelines... If you stick to them, you'll be fine!

• 1) Don't be that guy: Follow the rules that dictate proper roleplaying etiquette. This means the typical rules, including no godmodding (without permission), respecting the GM and other fellow roleplayers, all that good stuff.
• 2) Bring your own story: This is college... So, by nature, the story is basically a sandbox. It's hard for me to conceive a long-term storyline goal for this RP, because there are so many possibilities. We make our own story. Let our unique characters shape how the story flows, how drama develops, how time passes.
• 3) Use common sense: Your character can do just about anything in the realm of possibility... If they have a car, they can drive other places. They can skip class. They can do drugs. Whatever. However, please try to be realistic with these things. Speeding down the highway may get you a ticket. Skipping class too much will lead to failing grades or a loss of scholarship. Smoking a joint in public in broad daylight will probably land your character in some legal issues. Just use some common sense, and you'll be fine. I'm not gonna be too nitpicky on this, though.
• 4) Try to be tolerant: This RP will contain such themes as sex, profanity, drugs, and violence possibly. Please consider these before joining.
• 5) What I say goes: I'm not perfect, but I'll try to maintain this RP to the best of my ability. Please, don't complain about any changes I make. If you have any issues with another player, don't bitch them out in the OOC; bring up the issue with me or sort out your diffrences in PMs. If I decline your application or kick you out, please respect my decision. Thank you.
• 6) IMPORTANT NOTE: In order to congeal the story a bit, I ask that all characters created be freshmen and be in a Greek organization. You also can't create a football player. SORRY! <3

Campus Layout

Since I have zero idea about how to generate an actual map of the campus, and also due to the fact that the campus is relatively large and making one in detail would take an excruciating amount of time, I decided I'll just give a more, er, liberal, written description that will be up to interpretation by all of you.

Caligo University is best known for its outstanding football program, but its second best-known quality is its beautiful campus. The architecture is Greek-inspired, meaning there's lots of columns and a sense of grandeur to the school buildings. The sidewalks and paths are wide and the campus as a whole is spacious and spread out, yet not overwhelmingly sprawling. Beautiful deciduous and pine trees dot the campus along with a few fountains. Dividing the campus into northern and southern halves is Pinnacle Pike. North Campus houses the majority of the academic buildings, as well as a few cafés and restaurants. South Campus houses the on-campus dormitories and Greek houses and various areas for eating, recreation, and leasure. In the center of both North Campus and South Campus are the North and South Quads (wide open fields with trees where students can relax, sunbathe, play football, etc.) Just slightly to the north of North Campus is Styles-McCoy Stadium, the campus football stadium. Running north-to-south on the western edge of campus is the Hascatee River.

The university of located in the town of Caligo. Caligo is a rather cute small town, with small shops, great restaurants, and a very welcoming atmosphere. However, there is not much to do do directly outside of town—it's mostly open land and country.

Athletics
All athletic teams are part of the Caligo Wolves.
Colors: Pitch black, blood red, silver.
Battle cry: Full Moon
Mascot: Cal the Wolf

In-state rival: Wakefield University (Bassett, AL). They are the Wakefield Wyverns.

Out-of-state rivals: Centennial University (Delta, MS). They are the Centennial Cavalry.
Santa Vida State University (Corona, FL). They are the Santa Vida Snow Leopards.
South Tennessee State University (Ashdale, TN). They are the South Tennessee Twisters.
University of Central Georgia (Hearston, GA). They are the Central Georgia Sharks.

Football

Football is everything in the South, but I understand that due to the population that is on the RPG, football may not be a favorite. That is okay. There will be a football game (home or away) every Saturday in the fall semester. If it's a home game, we won't roleplay during the game itself. We'll time skip and I'll give a quick (and fake) game summary for those who care. That's it.

Greek Life

Greek life is a key social factor at Caligo University... For togetherness purposes, I would like all of you to be part of either a fraternity or sorority. There are other chapters on campus, but these four are the most well known.

Fraternities (boys only) often host exclusive parties (date parties) or swaps (parties with a specific sorority), usually but not always at their fraternity houses. Sororities (girls only) cannot have parties at their houses.

Incoming freshmen who want to join a certain Greek organization will have to go through rush, which is basically visiting the houses and getting to know the members. (Usually for fraternities, this means going to a few parties at the house. For sororities it is usually more formal and doesn't involve partying.) If they like you, they'll give you a bid, or an invitation to join. If you accept your bid to a certain organization, you'll then go through an eight-week pledgeship period. For boys, this means having to wear certain clothes, doing a plethora of favors for the already-initiated active members of the fraternity, and going through "team-building exercises" (AKA hazing... yes, it happens. This doesn't have to be narrated though!). For sororities, pledgeship is much easier. Usually girls are given odd set of rules to follow, but they're irrelevant, so for the purposes of this RP, girls don't have to do anything. Wholly, pledgeship is supposed to solidify your bonds with your other brothers/sisters.

For convenience, we'll assume all characters in a Greek organization have already accepted their bids and have started pledgeship.

The point of Greek life is brother/sisterhood and philanthropy! There are fundraising events in the forms of parties sometimes.

NOTE: PLEASE DON'T STICK TO THE "FRAT/SRAT" STIGMA!!! Not all fraternities are filled with douchey, ripped, party- and sex-obsessed "frat bros," and the sororities with Starbucks-guzzling "srat hoes." They're really just normal people. In fact, I personally know plenty of guys in fraternities who are quirky/nerdy/relatively normal, same for girls in sororities.

For freshmen, bids should've been secured the summer before school starts, so when you move in, you can live in your Greek house. (This also saves me the trouble of inventing a shit ton of residence halls.) The Greek houses are basically mansions where all (or most) members of a Greek organization live. They have rooms, a big dining area with chefs that cook meals throughout the day, all that wonderful stuff.

Here are the Greek organizations you can be a part of:

Fraternities
Gamma Kappa Chi (ΓΚΧ), also known as simply "Chi." (pronounced 'kye')
Sigma Sigma Tau (ΣΣΤ), also known as "Di-sig."

Sororities
Theta Zeta (ΘZ), also known as "Oz."
Gamma Alpha Mu (ΓΑΜ), also known as simply "Gamma."

There's no real difference between the fraternity chapters or sorority chapters. Just pick one whichever you like better. The two fraternity chapters can be thought to be "rivals," the same with the two sorority chapters, but it's not like some kind of feud.

Also... Just found out "Pride of the South" is the name of Ole Miss's marching band, damn it. Don't want to elicit any stupid Copyright issues or whatever. Guess I'll have to tinker with the title a bit too. ^^;

I feel like it would be more unifying if we all were part of the same organization (and easier for the characters to meet one another). I feel like it would be cool if all of our female/male characters were in the same Greek organization. Or maybe we're all in the same club. Would that be something you'd like?

With a start, you dash outside and rip open the mailbox, filing through the various bills and magazines not addressed to you. Then, you see it. A rather hefty envelope with your name on it and a familiar logo in the corner. With your palms sweating you return inside and ravenously tear into its contents…

Congratulations! After extensive review of your application, we at Caligo University would like to formally inform you of your admittance into the incoming Class of 2025! As a new member of the Wolf Pack family, you are now eligible to sign up for Comin’ to Caligo, our two-day summer orientation experience where you will learn your way around campus, forge some of your first friendships, and, of course, sign up for your classes for next fall.

Students at Caligo University take pride in hard work as well as academic and athletic achievement. Being a part of all this means you will be able to participate in classes with low student-to-teacher ratios, have access to one of the country’s most extensive library systems, have multiple research and volunteer opportunities, and, of course, foster relationships with others that last a lifetime.

We are eager to see you have a chance to be a part of all this here.

Also inside the envelope you learn of any notification of earned scholarships, a sticker for your car, and an official certificate that proves your acceptance into this prestigious university. You sigh with relief, a big smile playing on your lips. You did it!

I’m back, bitches.

What's that? You don't recognize me? Well, I assure you I'm a fairly huge deal around these parts...

Anyway, my schedule for the foreseeable future has an uncanny amount of free time in it, and while I've gone through a rather unexpected forced metamorphosis from an awkward caterpillar into a social butterfly, I've come to the conclusion that I do indeed have enough time on my hands to handle running a roleplay.

So for this roleplay is set in college. You probably sniffed that one out. And (sorta) as a nod of respect to the recent college football national champs, I figured having the school be a football powerhouse set in the South would be a zesty twist on things.

Don't worry, you don't have to like football for this roleplay. But there will be a game every Saturday in the fall semester, and if no one wants to write out the chaos of actually going to the game, I'll be fine with that. But I plan on providing a synopsis of the game, just so characters have something to discuss. All schools that Caligo University will play against are fictional, too, and also located in the South. I'm actually excited about writing about fake football games, anyway. Having to narrate it in real-time would be... rough.

If this gets enough interest, I can flesh out an OOC. I will also include information like the layout of campus, the school cheer, the mascot, our rival, the traditions, all that good stuff. Oh, and fraternities and sororities. Those are big in the South. They're also not quite as... stereotypical as they are in North? They're not like Animal House... Not always, anyway. More info on that later, though.

I already have most of the information ready to go, so it shouldn't be a problem. For those who are curious, we are the Caligo University Wolves, the school is in the town of Caligo, Alabama, (again, fictional), and our battle cry is... FULL MOON! (Because, like, that's what wolves howl at and it hypes them up or whatever.) I know. It's kinda derpy. But I can point out some schools whose cheer is equally as derpy... *cough* *cough* I won't drop any names, though. Heh.
