Bio

Hi and welcome!

I started roleplaying about 18 years ago and have recently returned to it because I missed it. I most like adventurous sci fi and fantasy, or more slice of life to action action filled modern day magic and mutants. I'm not into fandoms anymore and I'm not looking for romance roleplays either.

Often people create dark characters with heavy pasts. I do that sometimes too, but my character will then have a 'that's just life. Deal with it' attitude instead of feeling sorry for themselves. I also enjoy playing characters without such a heavy past. I enjoy the sciences so playing a scholar or mechanic is right up my alley. I also practise martial arts, but thougg I oike playing fighters, they are more the stealth characters than the muscled ones. I don't like hormonal (teenage) characters. I don't take death lightly so unless I'm playing an assassin my characters will look for ways to avoid murder.

Lastly, I love being a GM and controlling an entire world. I have some sci fi and modern fantasy worlds in my mind which I would like to play out here. I'm also a regular player, mostly casual where description is limited to what's necessary rather than describing every step, scent, bite or thought that occurs.

So that's a little about me. How about you?

Could be interesting. But where do you want this to go? And what role do you want others to play?
Hi all!

I'm looking for someone to roleplay with in a world where you play one character and I play all the rest. That wouldn't mean you don't get any say in the development, we can come up with ideas and goals to work towards together. It would be a joint effort so you can give input in what you would and would not like to see. We'll create a world for your character to explore together.

I've roleplayed like this for several years, both as GM and as player. This was quite some years ago but lately I've felt like starting it up again. I have some scenario's in mind, but first let me explain what I'm really looking for.

Most important is that you'd be online at around the same time as I am, which is in the evening CET time (+6 from EST). It's evening for me now, so if you aren't sure which time I'm talking about, just check the time of this thread. I ask this because I would like to get more than just one post a day out. I'm looking for someone who would like to actively participate for an hour or so. You don't have to be on every day at this time, just regularly.

I prefer useful description. For me that would be between free roleplay and casual roleplay. I like descriptions that add to the story, but don't need large paragraphs with every post. When there's dialogue with you playing only one character, one-liners are quite normal in my opinion.

I don't like teenage characters. They tend to act hormonal rather than sensible. Please make your character over 18 in age.

Those are my rules. Anyone still here? Wow.

On to the settings then! I'm mostly into some form of fantasy setting or sci fi. I don't mind mature themes but I tend to get bored with overly angst settings. I have some possible scenario's I'd like to explore. Who your character is, is pretty much up to you. If you have interesting ideas for settings yourself, feel free to let me know.

Well, if any of these scenario's sound interesting to you, please let me know, either in this thread or in PM. Or if you agree with the rules and have a scenario in mind you think I might like, please feel free to contact me as well.
I'm 6 hours ahead of EST.I guess we'd have to see how that works out. I can be on pretty much daily but it would be between your 2pm and 5pm. After that, it's bedtime. If it doesn't work I can kill off my character ;)

Speaking of death: I don't like resurrection and would propose that is beyond the boundaries of magic.

My ideas on how magic could work:

1: We could let people have one or perhaps two powers and we could have special items enhance or add to that. Spells could be possible but maybe you'd need an affinity for the type of spell?

2: We could have a world where all magic and spells are available to anyone, but your level decides how effective you are.

3: Magic could also be elemental. No spells needed then and it limits itself.
Original setting, more subtle magic. Do you still mean a modern day setting or more historic?
would enjoy playing a healer, mystic, or a form of medic .. anything in the support class .. open to many genres, but nothing too over the top as far as powers go ..

A healer is always useful! I would like to play a kowledge based character, but if necessary I can play someone with active powers too.
(: I've been here awhile and would love to join a group of people that are companions for rps!

Welcome. If you like the ideas you read, post your thoughts
Bah, can't sleep. The group could be mercenaries or bounty hunters or other hired help for the magical community. This could give endless plot opportunities. Or they are on the run from something while trying to fix the situation. Or they are after the same thing for different reasons. Or one of the group wants/needs something and the others join in to help.
I don't mind the questions. It's important to know if you think alike or it's better not to start at all.

I like the real world and fantasy mix. In Charmed there were many places that don't exist in the real world, like the underworld, the amazon island Leo gets banished to by Chris, the heavenly place where the elders live, the demonic market, the astral plane. In Harry Potter there are regions which are unplottable. Muggles can't find them or draw maps of them but the magical community can.

So basically you could create a magical world within the real world or go to another dimension/plane. Alternate universe is possible too, either as a 'we got transported here and need to find our way home' (Wizard of Oz/Alice in Wonderland) or as a 'we need something and can only find it here' kind of plot.

I was playing around with the idea of a bar where only magical creatures could enter. You say 'magic' to the doorman and if he sees the magic in you he'll let you in. Both good and evil are allowed, fighting gets you kicked, but the barman there has a lot of knowledge, he's like a walking library but his info costs money (or magical currency). It's not the right setting for an adventure (I meant it as a leisure thing) but it could be a place to start the adventure or return to when the characters are stuck if you like the idea?

As for the amount of people involved I think a party of 3-5 and a GM (or a GM who also plays a character) would be fun. 6 people is already a lot if you want to keep going. For example: it's 11pm here so bedtime.

I'll try to answer your questions

-In the past I've been involved in some long-term 1x1 midieval fantasy settings, with humans, demons and practically anything we could come up with so I'm familiar with that. We built the world from scratch, just as we went and it was really fun. But I also think it could be interesting to have more of a modern-day setting (I was a huge fan of Charmed, a little less of the teenage shows like vampire diaries, but I could work with that kind of world too. I dislike them for the teenage part, the fantasy part is fine)

-I did the 'gifted school' thing too, but those usually died out rather quickly because everybody was all about themselves. I don't really like playing with all teenage characters. I prefer them to be 18+, or better 20+ so they have actually develloped some character and can react reasonable instead of hormonal.

-I really like magic, but agree with you that a good set of ground rules are important. I'd rather not have every character be a half-breed, but I can work with a few of them. I'm not fond of half-breed elves, though. It's a cliché I don't often like the way they turned out.

-I like a group growing closer together through their adventures. Romance is fine with me, so long as it doesn't exclude the other players as you're going for a small group. With groups on an adventure, I worry that some are online more frequent than others which either stalls the adventure or ends up excluding some characters. We'd have to discuss how to deal with that.

-I would prefer having everybody play one (or maybe two) character(s) and the GM playing all the rest.

A fantasy adventure sounds interesting. I'd like to brainstorm with you.
