Has anyone seen @Vee ?

She posted in OOC today, saying she would try to get up a post.

TEAM EGGPLANT

Emma took in the vast expanse before her. It was certainly grander than anything she had ever seen, except perhaps the Botanical Gardens. And it was full of promise Emma was eager to discover the plants that grew around her, but for now she had a mission. She took it upon herself to keep an eye out for Lux, as she was young and maybe a bit too curious for her own good out here. Emma smiled warmly at the girl, placing a hand gently onto her back as they walked after the Spook. "I know it. And remember, I always have your back too, we're a team after all, aren't we? I mean, we're all a team, but you and me especially." Emma winked at the pint-sized detective.

It appeared that her small inquisitive friend wasn't the only one Emma would take charge of. She observed the green-haired woodcutter making a spectacle, preparing to chase after a white tree up the road. Emma looked down at Lux, "I think I should go make sure he stays out of trouble." She said, coyly pointing at Roy. With that Emma chased after the woodcutter. Luckily, he hadn't run off just yet. She placed a hand gingerly on his shoulder. "Hey, Roy? Buddy, you alright? It's just a birdcage, y'know? we're all eager to go take a look at all the stuff out here, but I think we should stick with Spook for now. After we get out bearings a little, how about you and me both go out, and we can both take a look at some of the flora, alright?" It probably wasn't very safe to run around behind the wall by yourself, especially if you weren't a Traveler.

She hoped he hadn't already made up his mind. Knowing Roy, that was hoping for too much.

@Darinthus @Skittles
Also I apologize if Roy's character comes off as annoying in this post, he's just a guy who is incredibly passionate about trees. He's generally passive with anything else, but as soon as trees are involved expect the guy to flip out.

Also I'm hoping there are some type of tree like monsters in the future. There might be some conflicts as Roy attempts to revere and protect the creature from the entire party.

Aside from that I'm required to post a certain amount in this thread for one of my college classes, so forgive me if at one point I being to describe the exact intricacies of a piece of tree bark that Roy is currently looking at.

Roy is mega cute

Emma caught up with her not a minute later, and Lux smiled at her affectionate gesture, one that reminded her very much of her brother. In fact, it wasn't the first time she'd thought that Emma made a great sister. When she was younger, she'd even fantasized about Emma meeting Lowell under different circumstances. They'd click instantly and get married right away and then Emma really would be her sister!

Lux is mega cute

I haven't seen enough of Ally to properly judge her cuteness, but I'm sure she's great.

My team is way too cute.

Edit: Btw, a post from me can be expected in about 2 hours.
So, question, because I like feedback.

How does the lack of contracions in speech make the character sound? I.e. Formal, polite, weird ect.

For example:

"I'm sorry, but I can't do that."

vs.

"I am sorry, but I cannot do that."

As a rule of thumb taking out contractions almost always adds formality to anything. It makes your character sound formal, stoic, and almost 'regal' sometimes.
Oh sweet then! See I really love gray text for reasons like this:

You should use this shade of grey, it's easy on the eyes
one teeny tiny request as we continue?

dark colors, dark red/blue/whatever, is harder to read against the dark grey RPG background. can everyone try and pick light/bright colors for their colored speech? for the sake of my eyes. pls ;-;

I didn't consider that, is mine alright for you?
Rule 1 of RPGuild: Post first, proofread later.

At least that's what I do.

Indecently, the HEX code for the color of my text is 517BAE, which was completely accidental but further reinforces my opinion that Emma is bae.
I have joined the color talk masterrace, and have upgraded my post with neat banner that I conveniently already had

TEAM EGGPLANT

Sanaa didn't recognize her. Thank god, Sanaa din't recognize her. Emma nodded at the girl as she introduced herself. She pushed out a meek, "Nice to meet you," but it seemed to be caught under her breath and likely gone unheard. Luckily Lux was here. At first she was uncertain, having the detective on their team was dangerous for her, but that didn't change the fact that Lux was a friend and Emma couldn't help but smile at the girls exuberance. When Lux hooked her arm with hers she let herself be dragged along.

It had also seemed, to her luck, that her nervousness had gone mostly unnoticed. Things would be hard, but Emma was finding her confidence. It appeared that one of the Rutabaga's had set some sort of trap for his team, which wasn't received well. Fighting was brewing in the other teams and Emma momentarily considered interrupting, but Lux, along with a multitude of others were already chasing after the Traveler, which seemed to be the most prudent action. So Emma took a birdcage in hand, an unassuming one that she could hold comfortably, and ran after the small girl.

To think that her team appeared to be one of the less dysfunctional ones was a surprise, all things considered. I just can't let anyone find out. Maybe I'll tell Sanaa, but not yet. I want to make it up to her, if I can. How the hell can I make up for killing someone's dad?

Emma soon caught up to Lux, who was quickly catching up with the so-called 'Spook'. Emma fell in line with the girl, and reached out to her, ruffling her hair affectionately. "So, investigator, I have a mystery for you to solve..." Emma held her birdcage in front of her, examining it. "Why exactly do you think a Traveler has conscripted us, and how do these birdcages fit into the equation?"

TEAM EGGPLANT

Several Hours Ago
Preparations had been put in place. Someone else would run the store. It felt wrong, but what could Emma do? She didn't want to leave Forivel's legacy into uncertain hands, but she at least vetted the replacement. She closed the shop for the last time, at least as it would be in her tenure. It was bitter, but she had no time to waste crying over it. She had to prepare for their journey, and there were still goodbyes to be said. She headed to her parents home. She spent the majority of her time living here, and the rest at the cramped bedroom at the back of the shop. She entered the front door, coming into a rather uneventful domestic scene. Her family had been assembled, which was lucky, because Emma had not told them she was leaving. No one took special notice of her entrance, because it was typical for her to come home at this time. No one took notice of the pack on her back either. It had been filled with all she would need, important medicinal plants and remedies, clothing, a journal and writing utensils, food. She intended to write a book of the plants beyond the wall and their uses. It was a serviceable reason, no one would ask why she was leavening, no one would know she was running from guilt. She cleared her throat, and said rather casually, "I'm leaving with the Traveler today."

What happened after that didn't matter. They were surprised, then they said tearful goodbyes, and Emma left. She only had one more person to say goodbye to.

She found herself on a windy path, taking measured steps. She was in the Botanical Gardens. She was saying goodbye to her favorite place- and her mentor. Forivel always wanted to be buried among the plants. It was a secluded grove, surrounded by trees planted in his honor. He was well liked by the other botanists. She kneeled in front of the headstone, placing her hand upon it. She didn't need to say anything, but the tears she had been holding back finally came.

When it came to be time she found herself on the path to the gate. She knew it would be a long time before she saw Enn again. As she came upon the gate she saw several faces she recognized- Meryn, Lux, Theodore, Roy, and...? There was a blond haired girl that looked markedly familiar, but Emma couldn't place her. ...Unless? No way. She knew who it was.

Sanaa Dufor.

She remembered her from when she had delivered the medicine to the Dufor Estate. Emma was frozen, still out of sight, breathing wildly.

No way. No way. This isn't happening. This can't be. Why? Why would she go with the Traveler? This was supposed to be a fresh start. This isn't fair.

The fact that Lux was also here made it all the worse. She remembered talking with her about the Marquis' death last time she was in her shop. It was natural that she would be questioned, but she knew Lux didn't really suspect her. At least she thought she knew. They were friends, after all.

Emma had to get it together. She tried to calm herself, but she still felt like a mess. She couldn't lose this chance- not even if Sanaa was here. She wouldn't get another chance to leave the city. She approached the group, deciding to engage with Lux. She approached the girl, waving at her, "H-h-hey Lux! If it isn't my favorite detective! Are you going along with the Traveler?"

She tried to sound calm. She really did. But, if anything, she drew more attention to herself. She tripped over her words, something very atypical of her, and she obviously sounded nervous.

Thank god the Traveler came.

He divided them into groups.

Sanna, Lux, Roy, someone she did not know.

How can I be this unlucky.

She tried to address her group, who had possessed the auspicious name of Eggplant. "Hey everyone." She said, putting on her best smile. She was a little calmer by now. "I already know most of you, but I'm Emma." She was doing her best to avoid the gaze of Sanaa Dufor.
