Hello! This is Buzzingbee! I used to be on here as BuzzBee but I had some trouble. I had issues in real life that made me go off for a while and then when I was going to come back on, passwords, emails, etc were forgotten and lost. xD But I'm back and ready to jump into where I left off!

Mia raised an eyebrow at him questioningly as he went on to say that punishment wasn't the only option. As he went on to explain what he meant, the baroness listened in a rather stoic silence as he suggested forming an alliance between them. The idea of working with criminals wasn't one that she was fond of. The baroness prided herself on the abilities of her trustworthy comrades rather than getting involved with thieves and other such people.

However, the effectiveness of using thieves in this war was something she had seen first hand and it made her think over his words with a bit more interest as well as care. Younis hiring those thieves to attack them had left them extremely vulnerable and honestly, if it hadn't been for Penelope working with this particular thief, there was no telling if they would have been able to recover from such a blow in time. A mixture of wanting to end the war as well as wanting further revenge over the devastating attack that Younis had launched, she suddenly found herself being surprisingly swayed by his offer.

But can he be trusted? The baroness studied him for a moment. There may have been enough gray area because of the war like he said but it would be difficult to trust that he and the others he spoke of would work effectively for her battalion. Perhaps he was just using it as a way of escaping after all. As she thought on it more, the more she doubted he would go back on his word, even if it was from desperation to keep his hands. After all, this was a thief who the previous king had used to retrieve the staff from Younis and who had worked alongside her lieutenant to bring down the other thieves. He had completed both tasks from what she had heard, which was enough to make her believe they could potentially work with him.

Especially if they had Penelope, who seemed plenty able to work with this thief. Though Mia originally didn't want them growing closer than she already suspected them to be, it might be a risk she'd have to take in order to regard an upper hand in this war that constantly seemed to be a stalemate.

"Interesting." Mia mused finally after taking a long pause to think it over. "All is fair in love and war I suppose. Even though I'd prefer not to resort to dealing with criminals, I'd rather secure our kingdoms victory than worry about maintain pride on the war front." The baroness crossed her arms and offered a small smile. "I like your offer... I'll present the idea of working with you and these others that you have mentioned to the other barons."

Figuring there wasn't much more for them to discuss, she began to stand up to leave. She then paused to warn, " Unfortunately, if I can't convince them on working with you, we'll likely stick to the original plan. I intend to give them a fair argument for this option on your behalf but the other two barons are much less fond of you and I want a solid decision by the end of tomorrow."
Mia's not acting too nice this time cx
Mia studied him as she waited for the thief to respond, noticing his stoic expression waver slightly. Though he didn't display it, the baroness could easily guess that their decision had struck some fear into the thief. After all, he'd have to be insane for it not to. She folded her arms as he finally spoke up to challenge her. The baroness thought his words over for a brief moment before merely shrugging.

"Most of what you've done to 'help us' was out of your own personal interests momentarily lining up with ours. And the one thing I believe that you have done selflessly was saving my lieutenant, which I believe has been paid off in plenty. You're alive and being treated by a physician, which covers whatever debt you believe we owe you in my opinion... I've even continued to let Penelope assign you easy guards rather than the ones her brother would have chosen." Mia pointed out with a glance over her shoulder towards where Philip had left. She did believe was a bit brutal but perhaps, brutal was necessary. Especially when they were caught in the middle of a war.

"Regardless of all of that, there's still the other crimes that you have committed that can't be ignored." she added as her gaze landed on him again. Her dark eyes narrowed slightly. "Recent help aside, we have a war to focus on and win. We can't risk letting a thief like you simply go free when you're still a threat to us. At least in losing your hands, you will not be killed, which you should be thankful enough for considering how many want you dead. However, if you have any more fitting ideas for your own punishment that assures the safety of my camp, I'm all ears."
Makes sense lol

Mia didn't beat around the bush at all cx
The meeting came to an end early in the afternoon. Most of the discussions had focused on how they would use the supplies that were coming in as well as preparing for the battle that would surely follow. The barons all seemed rather eager to receive their supplies after having been raided so badly by Jaxon and with talk of battle plans, it nearly felt like things were returning to normal after having to deal with the murderous group of thieves.

Unfortunately, Penelope couldn't share their relief of getting supplies nor the feeling of normalcy. The female knight was far too considered about Crow and what the meeting the next morning would decide. Everyone seemed in agreement over the punishment and even though Mia hadn't agreed, she figured it was just so she could buy time to talk to Crow. There was likely little that the thief could say for her to not agree with them. Since focus needed to return to the war, Mia would want to tie up this loose end quickly and with that in mind, it was unlikely she would want to cause arguments by disagreeing with the other two barons.

He still has time though... They aren't deciding until tomorrow morning anyways.. I can figure something out. Penelope assured herself as she walked towards the supply storage with Tomas. She had volunteered to help him get prepared for the shipment coming in soon as a way to keep busy until her shift at night. However, she likely wouldn't be much help as she continued to wrack her mind to come up with a solution.

With the meeting reaching an end and a decision on the horizon it was time to visit with the thief again. Mia exited the tent and walked towards the physician's tent. While the punishment was a bit brutal, it also seemed necessary. With a war going on, they couldn't risk going with a lesser punishment and killing him was off the table for the baroness. At least in losing his hands, he would still be alive and eventually granted freedom once he healed. It would just be up to him to figure out a way to keep it.

Stepping inside the tent, her gaze fell on the young guard who clearly grew nervous at her sudden arrival. Mia bit back an amused smirk. "Hello Philip. I'd like to speak with the thief for a moment, if you don't mind." she told him, subtly tipping her head towards the exit.

"O-ofcourse not." Philip said with a gracious dip of his head before hurrying out of the tent.

Mia watched him go before her gaze wandered over to the thief. She eyed him for a moment, wondering how he would react to the news she was about to deliver to him. After saving her lieutenant, she guessed he would likely feel entitled to a lesser punishment, if not just being allowed to leave freely. The baroness shook her head at the ridiculous thought of letting him go unpunished and moved to take a seat in Jane's chair.

"Hello again, Crow. I told you before that I would come to visit you once we were nearing a decision. And that time has come." she explained to him with a shrug. "As it stands right now, we will likely choose to have your hands removed."
Yep xD Penelope's already getting freaked out
Penelope gave a small wave goodbye to the two before heading out of the tent. She let out a small yawn almost as she soon as she stepped out, weary from both a long day and having barely slept the night before as well. The thought of finally laying down for a full night's rest sounded quiet heavenly and she quickly picked up her pace as she headed off to her tent. Once inside, she wasted no time in settling down for the night and found that sleep came easily to her. She was out cold almost as soon as she closed her eyes.

The next morning came quick and the female knight slept in late, giving her just barely enough time to grab a fast breakfast before hurrying off to her meeting with the barons. As she headed into the tent, she hoped Crow was faring better than the previous day and that he'd be ok with his guards until her night shift rolled around. Gavin would take the morning shift as usual but after him was a different knight named Philip, who was a younger, less experienced knight with what Penelope nearly considered child-like innocence despite all the death and brutality he had seen in the war. She doubted the young knight would give Crow much trouble, even if the thief gave him some.

As she settled down in her seat, she glanced around the tent to see that everyone had arrived. For a brief moment, her gaze locked with Layth's and the two siblings silently glared at each other before Penelope finally pulled away to look towards Mia as the baroness cleared her throat to get the attention of the others.

"It's come to my attention that the thief is becoming quite the problem since some are unclear," she glanced at Layth. "what the rules are for interacting with him while he heals...However, I've been speaking with Edward on this matter and I believe the best solution is to figure out what we're going to do with him."

"Obviously we should kill him! No other punishment is fitting." Layth growled.

Penelope shifted in her seat. The meeting had just barely begun but it was already seeming disastrous. This was the last topic she was hoping them to discuss. She just hoped that there would be enough controversy over what to do with Crow that it would carry over into another meeting. He still needed quite a bit more time to heal before they could work out a way for him to escape.

"There has to be a better option than killing." Penelope snorted.

"I have to agree with that." Mia suddenly mused. "After speaking with him, I think it wouldn't be honorable to kill him. We no longer have to worry about our supplies being taken or being put at a disadvantage with Younis thanks to his interference... Plus my lieutenant is still alive." she glanced at Penelope before looking to Edward. "It'd be cruel of us to kill him after all of that."

"Don't tell me you're getting soft on a thief!" Edward growled. "Are you trying to say he shouldn't even be punished?"

"Don't forget that he's stolen from us before." Bennett added with a narrowed gaze. "Just because he gave your lieutenant some information doesn't mean he's working for us."

"Gentlemen, please." Mia sighed. "I merely meant that he shouldn't be killed. I never said he shouldn't be punished for his other crimes."

"Well, what kind of other punishment is there?" Edward grumbled.

There was a moment of paused before Tomas shifted in his seat and suddenly spoke up a bit hesitantly. "Well, there's plenty but for someone as infamous as the thief we're dealing with... I think it's important that we make sure he isn't a threat to us after this." the older lieutenant gave a small frown as if not particularly pleased with his own idea. "I've heard of thieves having their hands cut off or otherwise mutilated before.. We could do that."

Penelope blinked in surprise at the rather cruel suggestion and only felt more horrified as she noticed the lack of immediate arguments against it. As her gaze swept over the others, she noticed that a moment of silence had fallen over as they contemplated his words. Even Layth, who had been so set on killing Crow, seemed to be considering this new option that Tomas had presented them. Feeling her heart race with fear for Crow, she shifted a bit nervously.

"Is that a bit... brutal?" she mumbled, unsure what else to say. She couldn't argue too much without drawing further suspicion and distrust.

"That's what makes it so fitting." Layth smirked coldly. "A handless thief is practically a dead one anyways."

"And it'll assure that he won't be taking our supplies again." Bennett mused in agreement.

"Have we reached a decision then? I quite like this idea myself." Edward added in with a nod.

"Possibly." Mia said with a small nod. Edward and Bennett looked over at her with questioning gazes, clearly a bit upset that she hadn't agreed to it quickly. The baroness simply shrugged her shoulders. "I wish to think it over. Let us sleep on it until tomorrow. We'll have another meeting in the early morning to make our decision. If it is unanimous, then the thief will lose his hands. Agreed?"

Penelope eyed Mia, guessing that the baroness would use that time to go visit Crow again like she had mentioned. Still, things were looking rather bleak for the thief and she had no clue how she was going to help him. Lost in her thoughts as she tried to piece together a way out of the mess Crow was going to be in, she barely paid attention as the meeting rolled on after Edward and Bennett agreed to Mia's terms. She was just vaguely aware that they had moved on to talking about the supplies that would be coming in any day now.
Me too!
And sounds good c: I went ahead and started its end
Penelope nodded her head in agreement as Crow said he had seen enough of her brother. Though she cared about him, it was more simply because of their familial ties rather than anything else. If Layth wasn't her brother, she didn't doubt that she'd hate him as much as Crow did. It was just difficult for her to that when he was one of the few Vermillions who at least seemed to accept her as family, even if it was begrudgingly.

As Crow went on to ask for water, she paused and glanced around. "I'm not sure actually.. Let me see if I can find one in here." she mused before turning to head off towards Jane's desk to look around. She could easily get some water elsewhere for him if the physician didn't have any around but she figured it'd b easier to check the tent first. Luckily it paid off as she found a flask rested near the desk. Grabbing it, she shook it a little to see how much was left inside and was pleased to find it was about half full.

"She does." she announced as she walked back over to Crow and offered him the flask. She glanced towards the exit of the tent before looking back over to the thief. "Now that things seem under control, I should get going soon." Penelope sighed. She had spent pretty much all day with the thief because of what had happened with Layth. It was even cutting into Olivia's night shift now. Despite that, she was still reluctant as always to leave even though she knew she should. It was getting late and she needed to go before Jane returned and began to wonder why she was hanging around for so long.

"I've got a meeting with the barons tomorrow so I won't be here until it's time for the night shift." she informed him before leaning over to press a parting kiss to his cheek.
He got off easy with just having the name revealed xD

Penelope's plan to use Jane against Layth is really going to backfire cx I'm thinking it'll be the reason the barons decide they need to speed up coming to a decision lol
