Hello! This is Buzzingbee! I used to be on here as BuzzBee but I had some trouble. I had issues in real life that made me go off for a while and then when I was going to come back on, passwords, emails, etc were forgotten and lost. xD But I'm back and ready to jump into where I left off!

The rest of her shift went by without much issue. Though things were tense with William around, nothing more happened than their brief squabble. Eventually, as it reached early morning, they were both relieved of their shift and headed off on their separate ways. Penelope returned to her room and was quick to lay down in an effort to get what sleep she could before she'd have to start the day.

When she did wake up, it was already about midday. The knight stirred as she heard her door click open and squinted her eyes open as she looked over to see her father enter the room. She tiredly raised an eyebrow and slowly moved to sit up, rubbing a hand over her face as she tried to shake off her remaining sleepiness. "Did you need me?" she asked before letting out a large yawn.

"No. I just came by to take care of those letters for you." John replied as he stepped over to the table by her bed. He carefully picked up the small bundle of letters she had written and turned to look over at her. "I saw them yesterday when I stopped by to make sure you remembered your shift. I wasn't sure when you would be waking up so I figured I'd better take care of them before it gets too late and the messenger leaves."

"Oh.. thank you, father..I can get them now though." Penelope mumbled as she leaned back on the palms of her hands.

John looked over at her and shook his head. "I'll handle it... Instead, I think you should prep to go take a short trip to Bellmare."

Penelope blinked and gave him a confused look. "What? Why?"

"Well if you're going to be staying here for a while, you should at least bring some of your things here. A change of clothes, a comb, maybe a dress just incase something else comes up." John shrugged his shoulders and gave her a stern look. "It's best to be prepared and presentable at all times."

Penelope sighed and gave a polite nod. "Of course. I'll leave tomorrow morning then."

"Good." John nodded approvingly. "You can take my horse when you go. I'm assuming you can fit most of your things into his saddle bags."

Penelope nodded her head, a bit glad that she'd be able to take a horse. It'd mean that she'd be able to reach Bellmare rather quickly, which would also allow her some extra time there. While she was a bit reluctant to leave the castle, she also found herself a bit eager to visit her home after being away for so long. She only wished she was able to bring Crow along with her. Another time.. she thought with a quiet sigh.

John moved to exit the room but paused at the doorway, casting a long glance over his shoulder at Penelope. "By the way... What training do you think the new viceroy needs?" he asked, seeming small bit uncomfortable at having to bring up the topic of Crow to his daughter.

"What do you mean?" Penelope asked tilting her head slightly. "The tutor he has determines that, doesn't he?"

"He determines his education, yes. But I was asking more in the sense of his physical skills. Swordsmanship, archery, horseback riding." John eyed her. "He'll need to be trained in those aspects just like any other nobleman."

"He knows how to fight from what I know... And a bit of archery.." Penelope responded hesitantly. "I don't know about anything else though."

John paused then gave a small nod. "I'll look into it." he muttered. "He'll likely still require formal training regardless of whatever skill he might possess anyways."

"Speaking of him," Penelope shifted nervously. "you're still giving him a chance right?" The female knight looked hopefully at her father as he hesitated to answer. After her talk with Crow the night before, she couldn't help but double check. Her father was the one person who could still stand in their way after all. She could tell he wasn't completely supportive but as long as he was at least still considering giving them his blessing, the knight could relax a bit.

"I am." John finally replied with a sigh then met her gaze sternly. "He's done well so far but he moved up in rank fast and he's entering a world he's not familiar with. It'd be foolish not to be a bit cautious on how that might affect him."

"I'm sure it won't affect him as much as you think it will." Penelope gave a small smile of relief.

"We'll see." John grunted before turning to leave. "Just make sure you make that trip tomorrow."

Penelope nodded and watched as her father stepped out of the room once more. Now more awake, she stretched out her limbs and got up to her feet. It was already too late to get breakfast and now that her father had taken her letters, the knight had a bit more free time than she had originally thought she would. Deciding to put that time to use, she put on her armor and headed out to the training area, deciding to spend her time brushing up on her skills.
William realized he can't do anything xD

And it should be interesting lol
I'm thinking Cedric will probably make a move to get back with Penelope before her and Crow start courting and when that fails he'll just settle for using friendship for favors. especially since she's being courted by the viceroy xD
So when that happens, he'll probably just try and swoop in again like the vulture he is XD
Penelope returned his smile and gave a small nod as she rose up to her feet to leave. "Thanks. Good luck with your lessons." The knight hung back for a moment as she let Crow leave first before heading out of the Great Hall as well. She walked quietly down the corridor and headed down the stairs as she made her way to the front gates. As she reach them, she relieved the guard that had been positioned there earlier and took her position on the right side of the gates.

Looking over to her left, she watched as a new guard stepped over to relieve the old one and frowned as she realized it was none other than William. The older knight narrowed his gaze at her but remained silent as the guard from before took his leave. For a brief moment, Penelope hoped that the male knight would just keep his mouth shut and just focus on his guard shift. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

"So, care to start explaining anything?" William growled as soon as they were left alone.

"I have nothing to explain." Penelope responded, returning his glare. The female knight held her head a little higher, refusing to let William see any weakness. She was quite nervous about his questioning but showing that would only encourage him to pry further. So, the knight forced herself to hold his gaze and restrained herself from shuffling her feet.

"Don't try to act innocent, Vermillion. I know you have something to do with that cur rising to viceroy so out with it." William demanded.

"William don't tell me you purposely took this shift just so you could badger me about your assumptions." Penelope sighed.

"Don't change the topic." He warned her threateningly and smirked arrogantly. "I want answers and I'm not afraid to start spreading the word about your little romance. I'm certain your father wouldn't be pleased to hear about it."

Penelope rolled her eyes. The knight wished she could say he was right about them still being together, after all there wasn't much he could do about it now that Crow was viceroy, but for the sake of keeping their heads down, she knew that she couldn't. "You're ridiculous." she growled. "First off, what good would spreading rumors like that do you now? That thief you loath so much is a noble now. The most punishment I'd get is a couple disapproving stares and a maybe a lecture from my father. If they even believe you."

She smirked at William and crossed her arms over her chest. "Aside from that, I hear you're the reason this happened in the first place. If anything, it's your loud mouth that got him the job."

William seemed slightly caught off guard and eyed her warily. "What the hell do you mean?"

"You were the one that told the king about his ability to pick up languages. If he hadn't known about that, then he would have likely never even offered him the position." Penelope pointed out. It was difficult to say how true her words were. After all, the king did claim that he was also doing it to repay Crow for the past but that hardly matter at the moment. If she could convince William he was at fault, it'd likely make the male knight back down from saying anything more.

She met his gaze challengingly as she notice the male knight waver. "So, if you decide ratting on me is the way to go, I suggest you reconsider. Otherwise I'll return the favor."

"I was merely reporting to my superior. I had no idea-" William began defensively.

"Do you really think that'll matter? There are a lot of angry people, William, and I'm sure you'd lose quite a bit of respect amongst them." Penelope shrugged.

William clenched his jaw frustratedly before turning away from her to focus on his surroundings. "This is ridiculous." he grumbled.

Penelope gave a pleased smirk as the older knight seemed to realize that he was backed into a corner. With no further protest from him, she focused back on her shift. The two fell into a tense silence for the rest of the night, both trying to ignore the other's presence in order to get through the shift as peacefully as possible.
Yep xD
nothing like a mutual hatred to bring two people together xD
"Tell me about it." Penelope sighed as Crow pointed out how ironic the situation was. After having so many look down upon their relationship, Naida's support was refreshing to say the least. Though her efforts to push the two together were a bit frustrating now, the knight was glad to know that her friend would support them and was eager for the day to come when they didn't have to keep acting like they had no interest in each other. It was a difficult thing to do when she was a bit more than just 'interested' in him.

She met his gaze as he mentioned it might not be too much longer. The knight gave a small smile, hoping he was right. It had only been two days but having to rely on their common connection of Naida and chance meetings was a bit frustrating to her. Not to mention the distance they had to constantly keep. She was eager for the day to come when she could properly spend time with him again. Especially since, when it did come, they wouldn't have to worry anymore about hiding their relationship from anyone. It was a strange feeling after having to hide for so long but also an exciting one to the knight.

As he mentioned her father, Penelope hesitated to answer as she gave an uncertain look. "It's difficult to tell how he feels but... I don't think he hates you." she replied after a short pause. Meeting his gaze, she smiled reassuringly. "From what I can tell, I don't think he'll make a scene. He knows that we intend to be together so if he really wanted to get in between that, I imagine he'd be actively trying to set me up with some other suitor." she pointed out quietly.

"Honestly, I think it's just a waiting game now." Penelope sighed. Her gaze flickered over to one of the windows and the knight frowned slightly as she noticed it was getting late. "And unfortunately, I should probably get going. I don't want to be late my first day back."
Same xD
I think a lot of people are going to hate him lol
Gavin definitely knows and already does cx
Penelope gave a small nod as Crow began to answer her question. Her gaze flickered over to the servant as he returned to drop off and test Crow's food before stepping away once more. Looking back to the viceroy, she gave a small nod of agreement at his first words. Since she was a lower ranking noble, she could only imagine what it was like to have a personal attendant. It certainly wasn't something she envied him for though. Just the thought of having someone waiting on her constantly felt strange to the knight.

She listened and ate as Crow went on to answer her question and wrinkled her nose slightly as well in shared distaste as he mentioned having to learn etiquette. The knight had grown up with basic etiquette taught within her family but she knew it could get much worse. Part of the learning her father had put her through during her short period of not being a knight had been learning proper etiquette for a noblewoman. Needless to say that the lesson had bored the knight to death.

"I'm sure it was terrible. Although, from my experience, it's never just one lesson so good luck." she sighed and flashed him a small smirk. As he asked about how she was, the knight returned his smile and
shrugged her shoulders. "I've been good. I worked on writing to the barons of my battalion and a couple others that I know of for support today. I also went ahead and wrote to Gavin and Olivia since I had the time. As for settling in, I've been fine there as well."

The knight folded her arms as she leaned slightly on the table. "I got to admit I miss having Gavin and Olivia around but it's also nice to see Naida again." Penelope paused and shook her head as another thought came to her, lowering her voice as she added, "That is, when she isn't trying to push me into a courtship with you." She looked over at him amusedly. "I'm assuming she's been bugging you about it too, right?"
I bet cx
Penelope turned back to her food, lowering her head slightly to hide the slight smile she had as Crow walked over to join her at her table. With Naida not around, it would be the closest thing they'd get to having alone time. It might not have been much since there were still other nobles around them so they'd have to continue to keep a distance but at the very least, she could speak a bit more freely with him without drawing any suspicion. That made the knight excited to be in his company once again.

As he sat down across from her, she smirked and rolled her eyes at his teasing words. "Well, I would if I could but no. I have the night shift for guard duty and I decided I better take a nap before then." she shrugged. "I ended up over sleeping a bit more than I intended so I got here late."

The knight swept her gaze over the remaining nobles in the Great Hall, noting a few glancing in their direction. Luckily it seemed more so to shoot glares at Crow's back than to give any critical gazes about the two of them sitting with each other. Relaxing a bit more, she shifted her gaze back to Crow and offered him a small smile. "How's your first day of being viceroy going? Busy or were you late because of nap too?" she asked curiously.
Makes sense xD
That's going to be such a shocker for him once that comes back ^^'
