Hello! This is Buzzingbee! I used to be on here as BuzzBee but I had some trouble. I had issues in real life that made me go off for a while and then when I was going to come back on, passwords, emails, etc were forgotten and lost. xD But I'm back and ready to jump into where I left off!

Penelope made her way to her room and hurried inside. Now alone and in the comfort of her room, the knight finally relaxed, not realizing how tense she must have been until her muscles relaxed. She wasted no time and kicked off her boots before lying down on her bed. The knight didn't even bother trying to get more comfortable before she closed her eyes. Sleep came quickly to her and she was out like a light in no time.

---

A knock came at her door, waking the knight from her slumber. It had actually been a couple hours but to a sleep deprived Penelope it felt like much less. She groaned into her pillow, clutching it tightly in her arms as if it would keep her from getting up. As the knock sounded again, she sighed and pushed herself up. She took a moment to straighten her appearance before going to answer the door. Opening it, she blinked in surprise to find Cedric waiting patiently on the other side.

He shot her an apologetic smile. "Sorry. I just came to get you for your guard shift. We're both stationed at the front today." he explained to her with a shrug.

"Oh right... Thanks." she said rubbing her eyes for a moment before stepping out of the room. She was in fact grateful for the reminder. Chances were she would have slept right through her shift if he hadn't stopped by to accompany her to the gates.

"Of course. Figured you'd be sleeping since I heard you had a night shift last night." Cedric grinned. He turned and began to lead the way towards the front gates. Penelope trailed after him. Her nap had helped some like she had suspected but she felt far from refreshed. She rubbed her eyes again, as if it could make her eyelids less heavy. It did help her feel a bit more awake though as she focused her gaze ahead. However, as she did, she noticed Cedric eying her with a look of concern.

"Still having trouble sleeping?" he asked softly.

"You could say that." Penelope responded quietly, shifting her gaze away from him, hoping he would take the hint that she didn't want to talk about it.

His gaze lingered on her for a moment longer but he eventually let out a sigh and looked back ahead without asking anymore. Instead he struck up a more casual conversation as they made their way to the front gates.

---

Her shift went by rather painlessly despite her weariness. The front gates weren't too busy aside from a couple nobles coming and going so she spent more time speaking with Cedric than anything. It was mainly casual talk about what was going on both at the castle and the warfront. Cedric seemed to be on good terms with most of the guards in the castle so apparently they often relaid news and rumors to him. Occasionally they caught up a bit on each other's lives as well. Penelope was cautious about the information she told him, often dancing around her past that involved Crow.

After having a bit of a stressful morning, Penelope had to admit that his company was a bit enjoyable. She knew she still had to be careful around him but it was nice having another friendly face to speak too. Although, it did make her wish she could have spent the shift with someone she was actually close to, such as Crow or Naida. Still, despite their history, Penelope was beginning to believe him a bit more about just looking to kindle a friendship. The way he approached her now was far different from how he had done in the past after all.

As the next guards came to relieve them, Cedric stretched his arms and then looked down at Penelope. "We're finally free." he said with a grin.

"Looks like it." Penelope agreed with a small smirk of amusement.

"So, shall we go get supper? They're probably about to start serving it right now." Cedric said as they began to make their way back into the castle.

Penelope hesitated before shaking her head. "You can go ahead. I need to stop by the Lenz's room to see if they need me for anything today."

Cedric frowned a little, seeming disappointed, momentarily before letting out a sigh and smiling once more. "Alright, well I guess I'll catch you later then. Good luck Penelope." he said as they reached the staircase.

"Thanks." Penelope gave him a small smile before turning and heading off to go to the Lenz's room.

Penelope's upset cx also having some Rikki flashbacks lol
Penelope took another bite of her food, while subtly keeping Elizabeth in the corner of her eye. This woman was already beginning to rub her the wrong way, first with how close she was getting to Crow and whatever intentions she had by trying to do so. Regardless of what they were, she simply didn't like it. Her tenseness only eased up slightly as she caught Crow's subtle glance at her as he gave Elizabeth a vague answer. Reminded of something a bit more heart warming, the knight lowered her gaze to her food as she hid a faint smile.

However the moment didn't last long as Liz pressed closer to him. The knight glanced up at the two but quickly looked away again, restraining herself from glaring at the other noblewoman. She felt a heavy flash of annoyance as the woman insisted on spending time alone with Crow, despite the viceroy's attempts to deny her. Penelope gripped the silverware in her hand a bit tighter as Liz made a rather bold comment about 'catching up' after supper. The knight narrowed her eyes at the woman but quickly looked away. The whole situation would have been a lot less frustrating if she didn't have to hold her tongue so much.

As Crow responded to her again before hurriedly finishing his meal, Penelope felt herself cringe at his words. She knew he was just saying it to keep Liz from getting any sort of suspicion but she'd be lying to say that it'd didn't leave her feeling a bit bitter. Once he announced he was leaving, she dared to look over at him, catching his apologetic look. Penelope glanced away before forcing a small smile. "See ya." she mumbled quietly.

Now alone with Liz, she turned her attention back to her food, intent on finishing it so she could hurry off to her room to sleep and avoid spending anymore time in the woman's company. However, she didn't even get another bite in when Elizabeth turned to her with a less than friendly attitude. Penelope narrowed her eyes at her as she claimed it was only a matter of time before he went back to her and that she didn't stand a chance. The knight wanted to snort at the confident words and set the record straight that the one who didn't stand a chance wasn't her. The fact that she couldn't only made her annoyance grow.

It also reminded her of Rikki, though she had a feeling Elizabeth's motives were quite different than the female thief's were. Aside from that there was also quite the big time gap. Regardless though, having yet another woman claim it was only a matter of time before he left her for them did leave a small feeling of unease. Rikki had once nearly tempted him before when they had gone quite a while without being intimate. Now that they were at the castle, they barely even got the chance to kiss let alone do anything more. Having Liz around, a woman he had a past with and who was eagerly throwing herself at him, was a bit more unnerving than Penelope wanted to admit. She did trust Crow but there was always that nagging little voice in the back of her head saying 'what if'.

She didn't want Liz to know she felt even slightly threatened though so she met the woman's gaze with annoyed look in her gaze. "Don't misunderstand, we're friends at most so do what you'd like." she snorted giving the woman a dismissive wave before narrowing her gaze on her. Even if she couldn't tell her outright that Crow and her were together or that she was even 'interested' in him, she didn't want Elizabeth to think she was just rolling over to her. "I don't appreciate the down talk though. You'd be wise to be a little more careful about how you talk to people around here."

"I was merely giving you a warning. If what you say is true then I'm sure we'll have no problems." Elizabeth smirked. "Anyways, enjoy the rest of your meal." With that, she turned and walked off, with her head raised high in an arrogant manner.

Penelope curled her lip slightly and lowered her gaze to her food. Irritated and tired, the knight no longer had the appetite to finish her food so she pushed the plate to the side and slowly rose to her feet. She hung back a bit, waiting for Elizabeth to disappear out the door before beginning to make her way out of the Great Hall as well.
Nice cx

Penelope's a bit more grouchy than usual lol
Penelope hesitated at Crow's words before returning his smile and giving a small, appreciative nod. Though she didn't really want to shorten their time together, the knight knew it was probably for the best considering how tired she was. Besides her own wants, she was also just a bit too tired to argue. Focusing back to her food, she took a bite but her attention was quickly drawn away from it as she heard someone address Crow. It wasn't a voice that was familiar to her, so curious she looked up to see who was approaching.

As her gaze landed on the woman and Crow addressed her, Penelope gave a small look of confusion. She had thought it might have been someone Crow knew based on how she had called to him. There seemed to be some sort of familiarity along with a hint of mischief. She was just beginning to think her assumption had been wrong when the woman went on to prod him about remembering her. The knight raised an eyebrow but didn't think much of it and instead moved to take another bite of her food. However, the food didn't make it to her mouth when she froze at the woman's next words.

So it seemed they did know each other after all... just a bit more intimately than the knight had previously guessed. As Crow shot her an apologetic look, she shrugged her shoulders in response. While it had caught her off guard, it wasn't too alarming to the knight. However, this Liz's presence did leave her feeling a bit tense, especially as the noblewoman slid in closely besides him. Too tired to mask her expression, Penelope narrowed her eyes at the woman before looking back to her food as she took another bite. Perhaps it was just due to her own tiredness, but she had a difficult time believing the woman had genuinely hoped to cross paths with Crow again. She was likely just attracted by the word of his new title.

Not that any of that matters though. she thought, relaxing a bit. As the woman finally 'seemed' to take notice of her— Penelope had a feeling that she had just been choosing to ignore her until now— she looked over at Elizabeth and forced a friendly smile in return. "Nice to meet you as well." she said as she shook the woman's hand. "I'm Penelope Vermillion."

"Ah! A Vermillion. You must be related to that baron Edward Vermillion, right? Is he your father?" Elizabeth asked.

"I am. He's actually my uncle though." Penelope responded with a shrug.

"I see. Well, I've heard quite a few things about his efforts on the warfront. You must be proud." Elizabeth smiled and nodded. The noblewoman paused, casting a quick glance at Crow before looking back to Penelope. "So how do you two know each other?" she asked cheerfully.

Penelope eyed Elizabeth for a moment. "Well, about two years ago I was hauling his ass across the border to Younis." she responded with a tired smirk then shrugged her shoulders. "Today though we just happen to have the mutual friend of Naida." Normally she would have just left out the part about their trip, however, this woman was already beginning to rub her the wrong way. If she could have, she would have liked to just state her real involvement with Crow, but since she couldn't, the second best was making sure Elizabeth knew they had some type of history, even if she just thought it was friendly.
Nice cx

Penelope just realized she's not going to get a proper break for a while probably lol
Penelope let out a yawn as she waited from her food. It was a long one and once she opened her eyes again, she spotted Crow entering the Great Hall. A small smile crossed her lips, still glad to get a bit more time with him despite her eagerness to get her food and go to bed. As he neared, her plate of food arrived and she muttered a quick word of thanks to the servant before focusing her gaze back onto Crow as he moved to sit down across from her. She was about to greet him when he asked her about how she was feeling.

The knight blinked, a bit caught off guard by the question, and then gave him a tired smile. "I'm alright." she assured him then paused before giving a sheepish shrug. "Although I suppose you're not far off from that guess. I'm tired." Penelope admitted, resting her head against the palm of her hand while using her free hand to poke at her food. "Between my guard shifts and party planning, I haven't been able to get much rest.. I think I only slept a couple hours after my shift yesterday."

Reflecting on her previous day, she began to realize just how busy she was getting. She had even requested more night shifts from Tybalt just so she would have her days free to work with Oliver and Dimia on the party. Suddenly realizing she'd likely be low on sleep for a while, Penelope let out a weary sigh, feeling even more tired just by the thought of it. I'll be able to relax once we have enough support to stop the war... she thought determinedly. Suddenly her gaze focused back on Crow and she realized that she had spaced off for a brief moment, caught up in her drowsiness and thoughts.

Not wanting to worry him, she offered a small smile. "I'll be fine. I can probably squeeze in a couple hours of sleep before-" he words cut off as a small yawn escaped her. "-before my midday shift today."
Penelope had a hard time deciding what to do xD
Penelope gave a small nod as Crow pointed out that she'd be fine now that Eldon has left. With that in mind, she didn't head straight for the door and instead took a moment to try and wake up more. She was just beginning to roll her shoulders when Preston spoke up and caught her attention. Her eyes widened slightly as the attendant reminded her that someone would be coming to take over her guard shift soon.

Between her weariness and all that had been going on that morning, it had slipped her mind to worry about getting out of the room before the next guard showed up. She cringed at the thought of the next guard already being stationed in the corridor. She needed to get going. As Crow spoke, she nodded her head in agreement and began to make her way to the door. "Hopefully they haven't already." she sighed and opened the door to poke her head out. Luckily the corridor was empty now and she let out a breath of relief. She glanced over her shoulder at Crow and offered him a small smile. "Looks like I lucky this time. I 'll see you later, Crow."

With that said, she hurried out into the corridor and quickly resumed her guard position. Fortunately, she made it just in time as footsteps from down the corridor caught her attention. The next guard had appeared and was making his way over to her. Upon seeing him, she dipped her head and exchanged spots with him as she headed off down the staircase. As she made her way down, the knight began to debate whether to go to the Great Hall or not. She was hungry but she was also quite tired and had a midday shift to be concerned about. In an ideal world, she could have grabbed something to eat and then slept the day away, however that unfortunately wasn't an option at the moment.

As she neared the Great Hall, the knight wavered for a moment before ultimately deciding to head inside for breakfast. I'll just have a quick bite and then sleep the rest of the morning. she decided as she made her way over to an empty table. She sat down a bit heavily and leaned against the table as she waited for her meal.
Penelope sort of almost fell asleep xD
