Hello! This is Buzzingbee! I used to be on here as BuzzBee but I had some trouble. I had issues in real life that made me go off for a while and then when I was going to come back on, passwords, emails, etc were forgotten and lost. xD But I'm back and ready to jump into where I left off!

At least it wasn't Naida xD
Once they had the attention of the crowd, Dimia shifted her gaze expectantly onto Penelope, who was a bit froze by the feeling of her heart racing in her chest. This was it. There was no more almost time or soon to bes for the speech. Now was the time and the knight was afraid her mind was about to go blank with panic despite all of the preparation she had done for this very moment. She felt a subtle nudge from her right and glanced over to see Naida shoot her an encouraging grin. It also reminded her that she had Crow in the crowd as well. Feeling a little better by having her friend near her and a place for her eyes to go if she got too anxious, she took a deep breath and took a step forward to address the crowd.

"G-Good evening." she tried not to cringe outwardly as she stumbled slightly over the first word. "We'd like to take a moment to thank you all for being here tonight. I'd also like to take a moment to thank the people besides me for making this magnificent party possible." She gestured to the Lenz's and Naida, casting them a small smile before her gaze focused back out on the crowd. Reminding herself of the tips that Oliver had given her, she fixed her postured, standing with more confidence than she actually felt, and focused her gaze out into the crowd.

"However, there is a more serious reason for why this celebration came about. Because, while we may be able to enjoy a grand event here in the safety of the castle, there are many more on the warfront that are unable to." Now that she was going into the true topic she wished to discuss, she felt herself trying to avoid the looks of many of the nobles. For a moment, her gaze darted around, lost until she was able to catch a glimpse of Crow towards the back. To ease her nerves, she focus on him for a short time as she began to continue her speech.

"The war between us and Younis has gone on for a year. Countless numbers of our people, both peasant and noble alike, have been lost to a war that has shown no signs of ending. Brothers, sisters, friends all gone now with nothing to show for their brave sacrifice aside from the tears their loved ones have cried over a grave. My time on the warfront showed me more of that than I ever cared to see. Winning a means nothing out there." Gaining passion as she spoke, she swept her gaze over the crowd. "This war needs to end. It is draining our kingdom. It takes away good people and dries us of our resources. Of wealth."

She took a small breath, unable to gauge what the audience was thinking of her words yet. There was no immediate protest or disagreement. They just seemed to be listening and she hoped that was good thing. It at least gave her the confidence to continue with her argument. "Now I'm sure most of you already know of the king's plan to seek an alliance with the kingdom of Gorm. While the plan may be decent, I don't believe it'll be worth while. Seeking an alliance with Gorm means the war will continue for even longer and continue to hurt our great kingdom. There is no guarantee Gorm will take up the king on his offer and even if they do, it could be months before they're fully prepared to send out aid to our warfronts.

"And what is to stop Younis from doing something similar? Pulling in another kingdom may just make for a bigger war rather than an end to this one." The thought of Toreus' warning crossed her mind. "What we need is to settle this brutal war in a peaceful manner. Since I left the warfront, I have been working to make this happen. I have received multiple letters from knights, lieutenants, and barons who have been fighting this war for much longer than myself, all voicing their agreement. If we try to end things peacefully, the war may end in only a couple months, rather than continuing for longer just to acquire help from another kingdom."

The knight flashed a hopeful smile, trying to hide as much of the nervousness as she could, at the crowd. "So tonight, I ask all of you to lend your voice in helping end this war in a peaceful manner."

On cue, Oliver took a step forward to join Penelope, gesture to a couple servants with a flick of his wrist. The servants, with well rehearsed elegance, hurried out with a table. They quickly set it up with a scroll, quills and ink jars. "For the rest of the evening, this petition will be out for those of you who wish to join our cause." he said, in a voice that was louder and more authoritative than Penelope thought possible of the usually quiet nobleman.

"I urge you all to consider it." Penelope said, giving a small curtsy to the crowd. "Regardless of whether you decide to join us or not, we thank you for your time and hope you continue to enjoy the rest of the party."
It sorta helped xD
Penelope was more than reluctant to go meet up with Dimia, knowing fully well it was time for the speech. It brought back the nervousness and anxiety she had managed to push down throughout the evening thanks to how well the first half of the party had been going. She took a small step back, hoping that not responding to Dimia's calls would buy her a bit more time before she had to stand up in front of the crowd. Just as she did, she felt Crow grab her hand. The touch was brief but it was enough to pull her out of her spiralling thoughts.

The knight flickered her gaze over to him as he reminded her that the god had chosen her and that he'd be there for support. While it didn't completely quell all the emotions she was currently feeling, the reassurance did help her work up enough nerve to quit ignoring the noblewoman who was looking for her. "Thanks... I guess I'll see you after then." she said with a nervous chuckle. Penelope shot Crow a small, hopeful smile. "Alright here goes nothing." She let out a long breath, trying to compose herself enough to face Dimia and then eventually the crowd.

Parting from Crow, she made her way towards Dimia, who was still searching for her. As she wove her way around other nobles, the woman caught sight of her and seemed to exhale in relief as if she had been afraid that the knight had ditched the party. "Gods there you are! Come on, come on Oliver is waiting for us and this song is nearly over." Dimia said urgently, already herding Penelope off towards the small stage where the minstrels were located.

"Sorry, sorry I just got sidetracked for a moment." Penelope said holding up her hands defensively. With not a chance to say more, she hurried off with Dimia over to the stage where she saw that not only was Oliver waiting but Naida as well it seemed. The knight raised a brow in confusion as they reached the other two. "I thought you'd be in the crowd?" she said as she walked over to her friend's side.

"I was going to but Oliver said something about it looking better if I was with you guys during the speech." Naida shrugged her shoulders. Casting a grin at Penelope, she added, "So here I am."

"It's better to publicly display you have royalty backing you... Especially when you're going to be trying to also discredit the king's own idea of getting aid from Gorm." Oliver explained softly.

"Yes, yes that's all well and good but there's no time to discuss this now. Everyone grab a wine glass and spoon." Dimia said impatiently as she waved a servant forward. The young man carried a tray of four empty glasses and spoons, offering them with a respectful bow to the group of nobles.

Penelope picked up one of each and stepped aside to let the others collect their own. Dimia silently shifted into place and directed the others as well, taking up the left side of Penelope with Oliver while pointing Naida to slip up onto her right. Once they were in place, Dimia motioned for them to lift their glasses and began to clink the spoons against them in order to draw in the attention of the crowd now that the music had ceased.
Kathryn blinked as now as a child suddenly came charging up to the woman. She stood back as the newcomers spoke with each other and then the girl who Annabeth was leading away. Her gaze tracked her partner for a moment longer before suddenly shifting onto the young boy who was apparently named Wes as he attempted to whisper to his mother. The flattering words managed to crack a smile onto her lips, finding amusement in them despite still feeling tense about the situation.

She gave a small nod to Sadie as she introduced her and her child. As she went onto introduce Charlie, the detective subtly raised an eyebrow in mild confusion. She had figured that the tall man was her husband, seeing as how Wesley resembled them both. Now she was unsure of what the situation was between the two, she wondered what was between them. It was rather uncommon for women and men to have children without getting married and often looked down upon. Of course, being both a werewolf and a female detective, she wasn't one to judge others for something that, simply put,'wasn't normal'. Unwilling to pry into their private life, the detective merely offered a polite smile and dipped her head to Charlie.

"Well, I'm glad that saves us time then." she mused, focusing back to the matter at hand. As Charlie too brought up the deer, Kathryn's defenses went back up, reminded of why she needed to be wary of these strangers. "Right well, let's go into my office then. It'll be more comfortable to talk there I'm sure." she said, narrowing her eyes slightly at them before turning to lead the way inside.
Penelope's stressed and avoiding responding to Dimia now lol xD
Penelope remained tense, unsure how Crow would respond. She had made mistakes in the past with her judgement but none of them had ever been quite as poor as this. As she felt his hand trail over her shoulders, she managed to relax them slightly under his touch. At his words, her gaze softened a bit, relieved to find out that he didn't blame her for what had happened. The knight was glad he didn't hold any resentment towards her for it. Though she herself had never blamed him for a similar situation had happened with Rikki in the past when they were all together, Penelope felt like all of Cedric's talk should have been clue enough to her to move away from him sooner.

A small smile managed to find its way onto her lips as he assured her that he still trusted her and that nothing had changed. She turned to face him more directly. The knight nearly felt overwhelmed by the urge to wrap her arms around him. However, even in her upset state she managed to keep a clear enough head to not do anything that would cause for unwanted attention. So instead, she settle for a touch to his arm, that hopefully just seemed playful to an outsiders view. She wasn't sure if anyone was keeping tabs on them at the moment—she hadn't checked her surroundings since he had reached her side—but assumed it was still best to play it safe despite how she longed to close the distance between them and take comfort in his embrace.

"I love you too. It just.. feel like I should have paid more attention in order to stop it and I didn't want you getting hurt because I messed up." she murmured in response. She shook her head and frowned. "I let him get away with getting close to me that I would have preferred during our dance. That should have been the first warning sign alone. Not to mention everything else." Penelope sighed and raked a hand through her hair. "Gods I can't stand not being able to just say I'm already spoken for."

"Penelope? Penelope?"

In the distance, the knight heard the familiar voice of Dimia calling her name and that could only mean one thing. Still feeling flustered and confused, she let out a groan. "Oh gods don't tell me it's already time... Not now.." she whimpered.
Nice cx

Penelope's pulling a Penelope and mainly blaming herself lmao
Penelope stood there, reeling from what had just happened. The kiss had been unexpected but thinking back on it now, Cedric had always flirted rather boldly with her in the past. The short time before they began courting, he had pulled stunts before. Certainly not to this extent but enough to make the knight feel even more uneasy about everything that had occurred. She used the back of her hand to wipe her lips, as if the motion could erase the unwanted kiss.

Coming back to herself a bit, she glanced around the party uneasily. The last thing she wanted was for Cedric’s little stunt to have draw attention to them. Luckily it seemed that the eyes that were looking her way were few. That came as a great relief to her. With only a short time before she’d have to give her speech, the last thing she needed was for others to start gossiping about her nonexistent relationship with Cedric. While it might not necessarily look bad at the moment, it would turn away the few ‘admirers’ she had gained that night and might cause them to not support her call to ending the war peacefully.

As she looked around her gaze fell on the second issue that was making her gut turn with guilt. Amongst the crowd she spotted Crow with Preston. Since she was a distance away, she couldn’t tell if the viceroy had seen the kiss or not. Either way she wanted to come clean about it to him. The guilt of letting such a thing slip past her weighed heavier on her than anything else. She may not have consented to the kiss but she still felt like she might have betrayed his trust in her to keep her guard up around Cedric. The knight thought she had been careful enough but apparently she had been wrong.

While she tried to figure out what to do next, she realized that Crow was already making his way over to her. The knight involuntarily grew tense. Though she intended to tell him about what had happened, she wanted to do so at a better time. He was protective and she worried mentioning anything now would just create problems at the party. Unfortunately, it seemed she wouldn't get the luxury of making that choice. The viceroy moved with a tenseness that didn't escape her gaze and was clearly intent on getting to her. He must have seen after all.

Penelope frowned and lowered her gaze away from him as he finally reached her. She shifted slightly as she felt him place his hand on her back. "Crow I...I'm so sorry." she said in a quiet voice. "..he started talking about courting and what happened earlier..I thought he would just leave at that...I didn't think he'd be that bold." Her words, just like her thoughts, were all over the place about the situation. Realizing it, she shook her head and looked up at him with an apologetic expression. "I'm sorry."
Fair enough xD especially if he saw any of that last bit lmao
