A weird thing about getting older is noticing how you do/hold things with your hands is slowly making your fingers permanently bend or deform, and not even being very disturbed by it.

About Me [Overhauled 11/26/2022]
I am a 30 year old woman from America. I have been Roleplaying for... damn, probably about 20 years. I got started in AOL chatrooms back when AOL was a program for dialup that came on CDs delivered in the snail-mail.
I have been through the spectrum of style and post length through my years, and have settled comfortably in a descriptive prose semi/para range for the most part. I like to focus on not only visual details, but sensory details as well.

My Interests

As Narissa tripped, someone grabbed her hand, but let go immediately. It didn't matter, she was heading for the trash bin. She heaved into the opening in the decorative case around it. People leaving the test and people passing by stopped to look at the scene of the two girls having mental breakdowns, or a horrible shared case of food poisoning. However, most people actually had somewhere to be, and didn't stay long. A few took pictures, as it was so easy to do with camera phones these days.

Narissa saw all of this, with her head in the trash can. It was happening again, but she could feel her eyes open. She wasn't sleeping. This wasn't a dream.

Someone took hold of the distressed girls, helped them to their feet, and started guiding them along. Narissa's detached vision was getting too erratic, almost 'glitching out'. She screwed her eyes shut and forced herself to concentrate. Her real vision returned to her, and she recognized the person guiding her along as that one campus security guard that drove around on the golf-cart too damn fast all the time. He was talking into his radio.

"...got a couple of students having episodes, taking em to the medical wing," She caught the end of his transmission. The muffled buzzing reply was too hard to catch. "Yeah, start checking the water-fountains just in case." The water fountains? Oh there was that thing she heard about, a couple years ago someone put LSD dots in the nozzles. Did she drink from a water fountain today...? She couldn't remember...
Narissa opened the test booklet's first couple title and information pages to where the test actually begun, not bothering with the 'demo' section that made sure you knew exactly how to fill in the bubble. She almost immediately sunk down on the desk, head resting on her outstretched arm that she bent back to almost touch her own shoulder. That kept her head up just enough to be able to read without her exhausted eyes complaining of having to focus at an odd angle. She was a pro at everything slouching and comfort related in class.

To say she didn't study for this implied she studied at all. Every question for the first half an hour was met with real-time logic, process of elimination, or 'when in doubt, pick C'. After a while in her comfortable position, her blinks turned into long blinks. Long blinks turned into just plain passing out. Or it would've been nice if were actually passing out.

Her view drifted from her like a camera on a crane like they use for TV and movies, slowly rotating and lifting to sweep across the rows of desks and take it all in. She recognized someone, and as soon as she picked them out, her vision shifted to them. First on their face, then turned and moved to over their shoulder. She saw their test paper, and remembered the number of one of the questions she said 'fuck it' on. They answered D. She answered C.

She got an idea. She turned her view and looked for that one smart kid she knew. Now she was purposefully controlling this vision. She started remembering answers from her visions in small groups, waking up, writing them down, and drifting off again. This was crazy. She was getting answers from her dreams. However, when she double checked some of them that she could answer surely, they were right...

Half an hour later, Narissa bubbled in the last answer. She was done, but so was also So Done. Her head pounded with a killer headache on top of a growing feeling of nausea. She nearly slammed the question book shut, got up, stuffed her pencils and things in her sweatpants pockets, and took the finished test to the teacher's desk. She pulled out her ID on a retractable string and showed it with her test paper. And that was it.

She was out the door. She stood in the hall a moment, oblivious to everything around her as she rubbed her face and her temples. She turned and headed down the hall, nearly tripping over a girl sitting on the floor for some reason. She didn't care at this point why. Her condition was mounting to a peak.

She needed to go to the clinic.

About Me
I am a 30 year old woman from America.

Rules & Preferences
- I play both male and female characters comfortably
- I'm looking for at least one paragraph, even if there's short-form dialogue going on.
- I can promise at least one Post a day. I hope for the same.
I understand bad days happen, though, so I expect some leniency and understanding if either of us misses a day or two.
- I absolutely prefer Rping in PMs on this site, with a separate OOC PM for discussing what is going on, as well as other stuff.

My Preferred Genres
>Fantasy
Survival
Apocalypse (Anything But Zombies. Super super super overdone!)
Post-Apocalypse (See above.)
Sub-genres:
Slice of Life
Modern
Romance

Fandoms
I prefer Original Characters and Plots, but sometimes it's nice to already have a World made for you!
I do not play cannon characters, but I love these worlds and universes and I would be happy to play within them!
I am not a lore expert on these! I just like them!

Premade Plots/Starter Prompts
Here's a few ideas I'd like to do!
>Greened ones are ones I really want to do!
(Not Limited to these, we can come up with our own story!)

All Plots are always available and I don't mind doing the same one with multiple people! You don't have to ask if one or another is taken!

>The Charmed Dragon
You are a sorcerer/ess hired by the Lord of a Kingdom to get rid of a Dragon that has settled in a valley several years now. The problem isn't that the Dragon is causing trouble - it is that the beast is gaining a following.
No arrow or blade has worked yet, so the Lord has turned to Magic...
OR
You're a dragon who's made a nice situation for yourself in a little valley. The villagers pay you tribute, and you keep the valley free of trouble. They've even started referring to you as their Lord. Now if only that pesky human lord would stop sending his men after you.
Today, though, it's not the usual metal clad halfwit...

Lords of the Wood
Centaurs are known to be volatile, violent, aggressive, and uncivilized tribal beasts. The good people of the land steer clear of them and their territories for fear of being caught in the frequent chest to chest brawls, which they can often be seen engaging in from across the farm fields or pastures bordering the forests they roam. However, this image gets shattered as someone encounters one - clothed and speaking common...

King Slayer
[Retired for the moment, but I want to keep this entry and logo]
(Up for discussion and development!)

>Forgotten Prisoner
It's been a long time since Castles and Lords, but one day someone stumbles upon something left from those days in a covered up dungeon under the city. And it is still alive.

Back to Camp
(Horror)

Some years ago, a summer camp was closed after every single person there went missing. It sat abandoned until a new owner hired a couple people to fix it back up into working order. Whatever happened long ago surely couldn't happen again, right...?

Survival
Our characters find themselves in an actual survival situation stuck in the middle of nowhere. Detail the struggles of the unprepared- lighting fires, finding food, minding the weather and environment, dealing with wildlife, dealing with each other, and slowly making it back to civilization.
Alpine Forest/Island
Tropical Forest/Island

Character Based Plots

The Cormorant
Fantasy - Romance - Slice of Life
Allen Cormoran is a seclusive man many generations deep in the family's long running business of building sailing ships. He lived recklessly through his youth until he was struck by lightning at sea. The ship was fine, but he was never the same. He shut himself off from the world in the family estate, and receded further as he became his family's last living member.
Someone needs to pull Allen out of his living grave, but that would mean learning his family's secret...

Skills, Levels, and Classes
Viruul is a freestyle game that all depends on the Player's personal skills, choices, and preferences. It is a lot like real life in that one must actually practice, develop strategy, and grow stronger from actually doing things themselves. There are no levels, stats, or experience points, just the personal experience of the player.

Magic
Magic is only recently being rediscovered by players with arcane affinities from the few NPCs who have kept the study of it alive since it's decline in popularity since ancient times. Magic is an ambient energy that can be harnessed and manipulated in many different ways, and each culture of the land develop their own ways of handling it. All people are capable of magic, but it can be a difficult subject to understand. As such, usually only those that make a focused effort tend to learn it.
(Really what you can do with magic is up to ya'll, I haven't figured that part out yet!)

This Interest Check has been moved to Advanced Group Rp and the new topic can be found here: http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/94641-project-viruul-virtual-reality-fantasy-world/ooc
I have had this story idea/headworld thing for a long time, and I have been writing a story with it but...It's really boring to write alone. So I am interested in anyone that wants to 1x1 Rp in this world, or possibly do a small group Rp of it!

This is moved from 1x1 interest check forum because it makes more sense as a group Rp.

Basic Premise
Viruul is the next generation of virtual reality gaming, making the giant leap from VR headsets to a full mental experience. Project Viruul is set in a massive, living, simulated world with a generic medieval fantasy setting to start with. Beta testers are being brought in from all walks of life, from hardcore gamers to those with almost no gaming experience at all. The game is in beta testing for a week and they sent invitations out to at least several hundred people. I'm not sure, but enough that 30% of all people in-game are Players. They were told they'd be provided room and board at the facility.

Game Mechanics
Viruul is essentially a full life simulation that feels completely real. There are not only sights and sounds as many games have, but also scent, feelings, and tastes. It's nearly impossible to tell it's a game aside from the obvious features like player re-spawning. There is no UI, no name tags, no virtual inventory, no health bars, nothing that breaks immersion.

Non-Player Characters
Non-Player Characters are all individuals with their own lives, experiences, memories, personalities, thoughts, the whole package. They were born and raised in the world of Viruul and do not consider it a 'game'. They are aware that Players are from a different world and are 'playing a game' or so they think. Non Player Characters are not immortal and suffer permanent death, as such they value their lives highly(unless they really don't care for personal reasons). Their world does not revolve around the Player's experience. As far as they're concerned, Viruul is their world and Players are just visitors.

There's no definite way to tell the difference between a player and an NPC besides actually admitting to one or the other, or dying and re-spawning or not re-spawning.

Being a Player
Players create their characters with the basic line-up of fantasy races like human, elf, dwarf, and giant. (It is possible to create a character that is not the same gender as the player.)
Other races are possible, but only available through in-game means such as infection, magical effects, and rarely GM intervention.

Players enter the world in one of several Starter Towns, with simple linen clothes, where they receive free equipment including a basic weapon of their choice, and a pack with some food, a map, a small cooking pot, and striking stones. There are also simple lessons in how to use their weapon of choice, how to build and start a fire, and how to cook.
Of course, all of this is completely optional and can be completely ignored by players who'd rather make their own way.

Another thing is that the complex simulation of life in Viruul also applies to the Players and NPCs, and all biological effects will effect them. Hunger, thirst, sickness, the need to go to the bathroom, menstruation and pregnancy in females, etc. It's all there.

Currency
The main currency of Viruul is Gold, Silver, and Copper coins. One Hundred of a kind equals one of a higher value(unless it's gold coins, then it is at it's highest value form). A gold coin is extremely valuable to a commoner, and could feed them and their family for a year. Silver is moderately valuable and more common, and the typical adventurer or mercenary usually wouldn't be carrying around more than fifty silver. Copper is pocket change.

Death
Death is permanent for NPCs, but for the player it's a very complex experience.
When a player dies, they leave their body and all their stuff behind aside from a small amount of the money they already had, if any. They will respawn with this small amount of money to pay healers and get back on their feet.

The Main Conflict
There is one main huge issue with Viruul that every Player eventually finds out about.

There is no way to log out.

Players are stuck in the game from the time they log in, to supposedly when they die of natural causes or old age. No one is sure.
Most players struggle with feelings of whether the game is actually real or not.

The Main Goal
The overall goal of all players is to find a way out of the game. There are many theories and rumors of various methods of exiting the game that can be investigated.
However, some Players eventually come to accept there is no logging out, and choose to focus on their new life more.

Player's Effect on World Development
The world is based on generic fantasy, but Players can potential influence the development of the world. For example, knowledgeable players might figure out a way to bring electricity, or combustion engines to the the world. But some NPCs might not like Players bringing these new foreign things into their world. It is questionable whether this is the GMs trying to keep the world from developing in that way, or if it's actually the NPC's personal feelings.

----------------

So! This is all I can write so far as I have to go, but I'm going to keep developing this. Please let me know if you have any questions about anything or if anything wasn't touched on that should've been.
I'd also appreciate tips on Organizing all this information, because if you didn't notice already, I'm very scatter-minded.

As someone Rping this, you'd have the choice of being a Player or an NPC so I included the mechanics and global mindset of both.

This is a interest check so checking if ya'll are interested~!

More to come!
