Speaking to others was awkward for him in such an open manner.

It was clear at this point he was effected by lack of knowledge of such broad events. Most he could recall was tears in the sky and world. At least he wasn't blatantly stupid and had the common decency to ask rather then to keep wondering like a chicken with it's head cut off... or like a blind brothel date wondering if she is getting paid for.
