Hey, I'm Catharyn! I joined the Roleplayer Guild on 2nd Feb 2011, then rejoined on the 17th Jan 2014 after Guildfall.
I was active every day until late 2015, accruing (i think) around 7k posts across dozens of roleplays. Then, I started working and had to gradually slow down my RP schedule. In 2017, I officially went on hiatus when other commitments got fully in the way of roleplaying.
This continued until the COVID-19 pandemic hit, when I suddenly realised I had a lot more free time in lockdown! So in mid-2020, I returned to the Guild with a vengeance. I also managed to get The Cradle 1x1 off the ground - a story i've had percolating for almost a decade.
My posting schedule has slowed down a bit now that the world has opened up again. I still love science fiction, fantasy and espionage themes, and generally aim for around 300 words per post.
Ah okay, i like it. We need people like that to counteract all the scrupulous ones. Going to bed now, see y'all in the morning. Keep the questions and suggestions coming, i love answering them all.
That's good, i'd really like people in that faction. It'll have mutated heavily from the Knights Templar of the 12th century. They're still very rich, but the values will be different. Same with the Red Cross, their mission evidently has been lost in translation because helping the needy isn't their priority.
Starting to put down more on 'setting the stage'. Babylon is the main city-state but there are three sister cities. Edessa, Actim and Réunion. They'll mainly be cornucopia cities, providing vital supplies to Babylon. Water, food, ore etc. Things that need space and natural resources.
Hehe, okay. If you want an easy way into the Culture Series, try The Player of Games. They're all by Ian M Banks. If you like that then move onto the meatier Consider Phlebas. I whole heartedly recommend this series to anyone who wants to get the full feel for this RP.
The mood i'm trying to capture is that of excess, oppression and pent up energy. Fast paced Sandship battles coupled with deadly political stand-offs. There'll be blood on both sides.
Firstly, it's a bit of both. It will be brewing before we start but i'd imagine the characters might have something to do with its development. ;)
Also yes, multiple factions are vying for control of Babylon. There's going to be some serious in-fighting. One of the factions i can reveal is a descendant of the Knights Templar and the Red Cross.
The drugs would lengthen their attention span and focus, but eventually the lack of sleep would take its toll on the human body. The drugs are mainly supplicants and can't replace food, water and sleep. The genofixing glands are also in the Culture Series. Deep Blue is my favorite.
