As for magic, we're talking magic magic. Spells and enchantments and incantations that work because we says they does. The only limit to it is training and energy, which as I said before comes from living beings, so it'll be strongest in big cities or places with a lot of life.

Personality: Julia is a generally affable person, but a bit of a loner.
History: Julia was born on Earth, but her father was a visitor from another planet. She's always been different from others, both physically and emotionally, but with her parents' support and the few friends she managed to make in school, she managed to live a somewhat average life. Even when her powers began manifesting, her outlook stayed positive in spite of the insults constantly barraging her. It wasn't until her college life that her unique gifts were greeted with interest and admiration, rather than disgust.

Ancillary:
Enhanced Endurance- Julia has increased physical durability, allowing her to withstand impact at supersonic speeds.
Enhanced Metabolism- Julia produces energy at a much faster rate than normal people. This also improves her rate of healing, but means she has to eat more food more often to maintain her energy levels.
Enhanced Reactions- Julia perceives the world much more slowly than normal people, especially when moving at high speeds.

Even when her powers began manifesting, her outlook stayed positive in spite of the insults constantly barraging her. As an outlet for her frustration, Julia took up Supervillainy. It started as a joke, but she turned out to be rather good at it, making a name for herself as Bad Omen. It wasn't until her college life that her unique gifts were greeted with interest and admiration, rather than disgust. This shift in her life made her decide to quit being an active villain, and take up a heroic mantle in its place. Still, she enjoys some of the benifits of Seattle brand Supervillainy.

Since we have extraterrestrials in regular contact, how does FTL stuffs work here? Nonexistent? Available only to militaries? Or available to rich people as well? Or casual interstellar travel? You see, interstellar trade requires a lot of big FTL ships.

Humans have yet to develop their own form of interstellar travel, and there are treaties in place that prevent any other race from allowing non-spacefaring societies to study their technology or purchase anything they cannot produce themselves.

@chukklehedSo nothing along the lines of, say, Superman or Hellboy or stuff like that when it comes to species/origin then? What about stuff like robot heroes who aren't part human due to being fully mechanical?

Also all of those power origin options seem to be innate, permanent powers, but what if I wanted to have a character that uses a magical device or some kind of super-science equipment for their powers? ^^; Like, say, a transforming hero or something.

While there are lifelike AI, humanoid androids are very limited in number. I suppose you could make your case for one.
As for transforming heroes, there are a number of different options. Shifters change from human form to something else, usually but not always nonhuman. Th here are also enchantments that can change a person's abilities drastically in short bursts, rather than a sustained enhancement.

Simply put, heroes on Earth have some kind of loyalty to Earth. In almost every case, that's because they were born there, to at least one human parent. Since the setting for the RP is Earth, and that probably won't change for a long time, the characters need to be terrestrial.
