Phillip almost jumped out of the water in surprise when she embraced him. His eyes were back to purple as he hesitantly returned the hug, saying "I'm sure she's fine. She knows how to handle herself, I'm sure she just went on a pilgrimage or something to learn how to use some weapon or another, like when she traveled for a year to learn how to use a sword. I really shouldn't be worrying about her." He fought with himself for a second before extricating himself from her arms. "There's really no reason to focus on such a depressing topic right now. We're at a new home starting a new life, it should be a happy time."

You know what I always wanted to do? A 1x1 with two people, and then somebody else who makes the story

He laughed, turning his eyes back to the stars. "I don't think I am, no. It must be the sleep deprivation, making me ask things like that." He closed his eyes, sighing. "I've never really had time for a girlfriend. I was always taking care of my sister, back home, so I barely had any time for regular friends." When he opened his eyes again, they were dull gray. "I guess that's not an issue any more, since she's missing."

Alex led her over to the bed gently, helping her lay down before joining her. This time he kept a small distance between them, not wanting to open her wounds again. "For now you are my princess, but soon I will teach you to fight. Then this won't happen again." He tried not to think about what might happen to her if he taught her to fight, and could only pray it didn't change her too much.

"It's far better than where I was before," Phillip agreed, sinking in next to her. "It's probably supposed to be like that." As he closed his eyes and let the heat take care of his sore muscles, he suddenly had a thought. Opening his eyes again, now with yellow mixed in with the purple, he looked at her. "You don't have a boyfriend, do you?" He asked, "I just realized I've been flirting with you this whole time, and I might just be digging myself into a hole."

Alex almost took her in his arms then, wanting to ignore his mind's warning, but managed to hold onto his reason. "We can never rewrite the past," He said, putting her hands on either side of her neck above the bandages. "We can only learn from what mistakes we have made, and live on into the future." He leaned close and kissed her forehead. "In the morning I should have enough strength to try healing you again, and at the very least it will cut a week off your recovery time. You'll be back in my arms before you know it, I promise." He swallowed his pain and smiled encouragingly, wanting nothing more now than to give her hope.

Phillip wasn't far behind her, only lagging behind because he had almost slipped and fallen on the wet stones. "I'm alright," He said when he caught up, "Didn't fall." He looked past her to the steaming water, smiling. "That looks amazing after the drive I took. My back is really stiff." Suddenly he was overtaken by a yawn, and hastily covered his mouth. "Ah, man I'm tired. After the hot tub I guess I'll have to call it a night, no matter how much I wish I could stay up and talk with you."

Alex followed her directions. He managed to secure the bandages well; he was nothing if not a quick learner. Once he was done he looked at her, his pain obvious on his face. I wish you hadn't done that, but more than that I wish I had had the sense to stop you. I should have known you weren't ready yet." He was on the verge of breaking down again, and all he wanted to do was hold her close and tell her he was sorry and that he loved her, but he knew that he would hurt her by touching her.
