The Power

Power. Something sought out by various people since the dawn of time. A dream for many and a reality for few. Thanks to a government experiment gone horribly wrong for a group of college students at the University of San Francisco it does become a reality. Thanks to a secret project tampering with advanced technology and exotic forces better left alone fiction becomes fact. Now the story of these students unfold as they gain the power to literally change the world around them for better or for worst.

Setting: The story will take place in San Francisco, California. More specifically the college students in the RP will attend the University of San Francisco. This RP will be an open world sandbox style RP. Characters are free to explore and can even leave California during the RP if they wish, but most of the action will probably be there at least for a while since the characters are students there.

THE RULES
1. Don't heavily abuse powers. I won't be too strict on this rule since it's an open ended world with superhuman powers, but try to be reasonable but as long as you're not causing a problem with the story or other players anything goes. :)
2. Keep things as realistic as possible within the setting, and be prepared to deal with the consequence's of a characters action depending on what they do.
3. Remain active as possible, and if for any reason you will be absent for a prolonged period of time, or wish to disappear simply inform one of the GM's if possible.
4. No one liners, I'm not going to be harsh or strict about the length, but at least a paragraph or two per post.
5. Feel free to introduce as many characters, and non playable characters as you want. NPC's don't require a detailed profile, but for recurring ones that have some importance to the plot a brief summary of them in the OOC would be nice.
6. Third person is recommended. Also you're welcome to either create a character or even play yourself but with the addition of superhuman powers.

Of course there's alot more to the story but the point of this thread is to gather interest. A decent sized group of roleplayers who are willing to work together to create a great story.

Death Note: The True Criminals

The story of Death Note is an interesting one. The story of Light Yagami a man who finds a book called the Death Note, a book that allows him to kill people by entering their name so long as he knows their first and last name as well as their appearance. A deadly weapon he used in his self appointed mission to wipe out crime. Taking on the alias of Kira and leading to a massive police investigation. In the end Light fell, and the death note removed from the human world by the shinigami who brought them. But what if that wasn't the case...what if someone else had found the death note? Someone with a different motive then to wipe out every criminal, but to wipe out the true criminals of society. Corrupt politicians, Crooked Law Enforcement Agents, powerful businessmen using their money to influence politics, and other such individuals. Someone who wanted to change the fabric of society of self, to truly make it a paradise where those in power cared for the people or at least are too afraid to abuse the power to benefit themselves. That's the world the new owner of the death note wants to create.. will he be successful, or will he be discovered?

The premise of a political thriller Death Note RP, anyone interested?
People could play as anyone they wanted in this story, police officers, politicians, FBI agents, celebrities, media, or regular civilians who somehow get dragged into this story.
I'll either start off with the first death note user or the co-gm, but just like in the original death note more of the notes can and will be distributed to others in the role-play.
If you want to play a shinigami they have to be following around a human who has their death note.

Here's the idea a group of drop outs struggling to make ends meet, decide fuck it, tired of living from paycheck to paycheck, decide it's time to get an upgrade from their shitty lives. Decide to get into the drug game, and the rest is history. Now there on their way to being the next Tony Montanna's and Heisenberg's struggling to make a name for themselves while also staying off the police's radar.

That's the jist of the idea, a crime RP. People could play plenty of roles in the RP, cops, drug dealers, feds, whatever, hopefully this gets some interest lol.
