"Let's not howl," decided Kaaili. "Not yet. It's too dangerous." Then again, though, traveling out of the familiar territory of the Uutar was also dangerous, yet here they were. Her tail stuck straight out behind her as she picked her way down the rocky slope and descended under the treeline. Two bluebirds huddled in a nest with their chicks and the sight of that family, whole and together, made Kaaili's heart ache. "Maybe if we reach a place that's easily defendable, like a cliff. I'd rather find them first, though."

She hated to be the one making the decisions. It was so new, and she didn't want to make a mistake and get her only kin killed.

@CLIW too!

I'm sorry, I didn't see this until now!
Aldo had made quick work of the first chocolate chip cookie and grabbed another when he casually looked toward the sliding glass door and did a double-take when he saw a werewolf he didn't know peeking through the glass and then switching her focus to someone else, who he couldn't see. All he could feel was total certainty that this werewolf was not part of the Odessa Pack. After all, he'd known them before becoming a werewolf. Through the glass, he could hear a very clear growl, making his muscles go rigid and the second cookie disappear in his now-tight jaws. He noticed that the stranger's leg looked injured, and a tiny bit of pity ran through him, but it passed quickly: all that meant was an easier fight for him.

He tapped on the glass to get the wolf's attention. He didn't feel much like he had the energy to shift again, but keeping his eye on the possible hostile he grabbed yet another cookie. Even as a human, his lip lifted in a warning snarl. This didn't make it easy for him to eat the cookie, and in fact it probably made him look pretty stupid, but he wouldn't back down. His heart was thudding; he didn't want to go outside and pick a fight and he very much hoped that one of the enforcers would come along and take control of the situation but he knew that someone was out there who was part of the pack.

"Now, I could use a little help gathering some ingredients for dinner," said Luz. "I figure that since you mermaids are familiar with the island, you know what plants are edible and what ones aren't. Would I be right in that assumption?" She was still quite nervous, especially with the one named Leo around, but a little glancing from her to Balon told her that they were at least on good terms. Hopefully then it was safe to say that the white-haired woman wouldn't attack one of his crewmates.

She spoke at Gwen, now. "I'd love to make up for my very stupid decision of hauling you over here in a net. So if you'd like to stay for dinner, you get extra dessert. And surprisingly, my desserts don't involve insects or their larvae."
@Puffhead

Alda grinned a little, very much appreciating the flirt: she'd have to stand still more often so that no one would notice her limp. She would have answered him earlier except for the fact that the hot guy from earlier got in a very short fight! Surely Derric would understand; she couldn't miss a moment of it. Although it was hard to hide her disappointment when an instructor broke them up before anyone could get a little bloody. She thought she could hear a faint threat from the Till boy, though, so she made a mental note to keep an eye on the two for entertainment's sake.

Finally she shook Derric's hand firmly, relieved to be talking to another person from Slight. She wasn't a huge fan of talking to anyone in particular, but everyone here...well, there were the rich, snotty kids, the attractive-but-clearly-unstable dude, and some girl who screamed over getting dirt on her jacket who Alda sincerely prayed would not be her roommate. "My name's Alda and I'm also from Slight."
It seems to be a really common bug.

Also, I'm hittin' the sack. Night everyone

Edit: I can't figure out this stupid tagging thing...

try square brackets around the tag

I guess this would depend on who's the most active person here..which I don't know who is
Alda jumped and turned her head, raising her eyebrows in an attempt to give that critical-but-innocently-confused look that says, What the hell are you talking about? It didn't work, though, because her face flushed and became a noticeable shade of pink. She struggled internally with whether to engage in conversation with the boy, who obviously couldn't mind his own business but didn't look too bad himself. "Very much enjoying the view," she finally answered, with the soft beginning of a half-chuckle and a small, nervous smile. Was he from Slight? she wondered, pondering if she had in fact seen him before. Perhaps briefly. Before the accident.

"Did you come over here to share the view?" she asked slyly.
