Royal Rumble: Side-story

Ivan had spent many months trying to get a grasp on the new state of the world. It seemed that both magic and science had advanced significantly in his absence giving birth to a wonder called magitech. Ivan found it hard to believe the devices that people use every day were nothing but fantasies where he came from. He couldn't fathom how a "smartphone" worked and given he couldn't even use the touchscreen, gave up quickly on learning. The culture had also changed greatly around him. Things like equality and civil rights had multiple major movements and the caste system, although still present, was widely looked down upon. This gave Ivan much to think about when addressing others. On his first day, he made the very unfortunate mistake of questing a women's place in an establishment of higher learning. He also tried to vanquish a demon believing the school was being invaded. He was looked at very unfavorably for these blunders and the guidance counselor gave him a crash course in modern cultural norms to try to prevent any future incidents. Ivan ultimately chose to hold his tongue when around others until he had a better understanding of what qualified as normal in this era. He is constantly frustrated by what he doesn't understand but wishes to rectify this as soon as possible. He cannot be rid of his curse if he can't work with people after all.

Today was different though. He hadn't been familiar with the words at first, but he had come to understand that a witch attended Zarkov Academy. This confused Ivan greatly having been taught that witches were evil beings who sell their souls for dark powers. Though he had to admit he thought the same about demons. He still needed to meet her though and find out for himself. If good witches truly did exist then perhaps there was a greater chance of being freed from his curse. However, if she proved to be as vile as the witches of old. He would not show mercy. He brought his crimson hoe to the academy today. He had been asked not to carry it around, but it was a special occasion. He needed to know for sure if his quarry was a witch and especially if she was related to the witch who cursed him.

After poking around for information he eventually got a name and a classroom. Alicia was reported to be just getting out of a World History class. As Ivan sought out the class he was drawn to the sound of an explosion ahead of him. In the distance, near the class he had been looking for, he saw a flash of light followed by a loud boom. A strong air current blew down the hall ruffling Ivan's jacket. He saw a light in the distance now, but as soon as it had appeared, it vanished with another quieter clap. It was too far for Ivan to make out the details, but he could see a small boy wearing blue and a girl wearing some kind of ornate black and white ensemble standing in the hall where the light had appeared. As he made his way to the scene an agile man, who's greatest defining trait was the color brown, bolted past him. Ivan slowly stomped up behind the brown man and heard the response to his question.

“We're fine,” he heard a woman's voice say. “Please leave us. We're in the middle of a meeting.”

It seemed he was interrupting something. His hoe was not vibrating, meaning his witch wasn't near. He became frustrated having missed his target but decided that asking if anyone had seen her wouldn't hurt.

Ivan gazed into the room and saw a young girl in a rather revealing dress sitting in front of a familiar Demon, or Dragon. Ivan had trouble understanding the specifics, but it was hard to forget the man he threatened to banish back to hell. Ivan was starting to believe that he should perhaps move on deal with the witch later. However, the other man standing next to the Demon caught his attention. He was a bit slow to catch the latest news, but he had heard many rumors about a nobleman roaming the school. The majority of the rumors were not pleasant, but few tended to respect the old ways. He decided it would be for the best if he posed his question and moved on before he was recognized.

"Excuse me. Zo any you know Alicia? Vas told devushka named Alicia be here. Important business vit her."

Biography:

Ivan grew up on a farm deep in the Yekaterina wilderness off a small road. He lived with his parent near a small town. They were a humble bunch that knew the meaning of a hard day's work.

When Ivan was finally granted his gift by the gods he did not know what to make of it. The gifts tend to come with minimal instructions other than an intrinsic knowledge of what you can do, but not how to do it. He was still pleased with his gift as he found it very handy for doing repairs. He even found he could convert most of his iron tools straight to steel with little effort, but couldn't seem to make the wooden spoons metal. His power often vexed him, but never more than the day he visited the town to sell in the market for the first time.

Ivan was selling his farms produce when a man gave him a gold coin. Ivan had never seen gold before and was used to the sight of silver and copper. The man explained that he was a traveling merchant and that gold was a highly valued substance for exchange. The man explained the value of the coin and Ivan became fascinated with the valuable substance. It was after returning that day Ivan vowed to reproduce the valued substance and bring his family and his town prosperity.

Ivan tried many times across several weeks to create gold using his power, but he simply could not find the power he needed. He tried many different materials and even started buying exotic substances in town, but could not find the magic ingredient to make gold. It was on one such day after another round of failures that Ivan's frustration reached a boiling point. He had been working in the fields trying to sweat out his frustrations with a hard days work when he had a thought. "If only gold were to grow like the potatoes in my field. I would be the richest man in the world." As he let himself become lost in that delusion he felt something he hadn't before. A feeling like he knew something, but couldn't quite remember it. He placed his hand upon a potato he had sown in the field. He thought to it. He thought to the potato, "Would you become gold for me?" At that moment Ivan began to feel faint as he felt the familiar pull of his strength being drained by his gift. He, however, could not stem the flow of power and passed out under the strain. Ivan awoke a week later feeling more tired than he could ever remember. His parents were both glad and furious to see him. They told him to give up on his silly dream and forget his vow. Ivan could only nod numbly until the grogginess cleared enough for him to remember why he had passed out. He rushed from his room and into the field, desperately searching for the potato he had risked his life to transform. He could not remember where he was standing and feared it had been buried in the commotion. He became manic and started to tear into the field until his parents stopped him. He didn't want to give up but feared his parents were right and that this was the end. It was then that he saw it. A glint in the rising light of the sun. A golden glint of a potato sprout.

It was over the next few years that Ivan carefully started experimenting with his power to create a farm unlike any other. He found that after creating the first golden potato it was no trouble to break it up and sow it like any other potato. He also found he could use his powers on animals and insects. He along with his parents carefully selected different crops and animals and Ivan would them to become gold or diamond or even steel. It wasn't long until the entire farm looked like it belonged in a fantasy. There rows of golden corn, diamond butterflies, and steel cows. Ivan did as he vowed and shared the wealth with the town so it to could prosper. The wealth and legends of his farm were bringing in lots of business for the town. Ivan was careful not to share the location of his farm carelessly, not wanting people to find where their farm was located deep in the forest.

The rumors of Ivan's farm had spread far enough that a powerful witch took an interest in them. The witch believed if she could get a hold of that farm then she could have easy access to enough rare materials that no one could ever hope to stop the magical power she would wield. It was on the night of a full moon that the witch launched her attack upon the farm. The witch had used the extra power from the full moon to lay a simple, but powerful curse of sleep upon the town, to cause all its residents to fall unconscious. This left only Ivan and his parents still awake. The witch came to them and demanded their surrender, "You can not beat me." she shouted, "Serve me and I shall spare your lives. If you serve I'll even reward you."

Ivan and his parents did not have any offensive gifts, all suited for support, but not for getting into the action. They all still agreed that they shouldn't let the farm fall into the hands of the witch. Ivan knew little of magic but the witch would not want their farm if she couldn't use it to do terrible things. Ivan attacked first, his parents falling suite and raised his steel hoe up to strike the witch down. The witch merely scoffed at their advancement and her eyes began to glow a sickly green. It was at this time that Ivan and his parent's bodies began to turn to stone a curse of petrification having been cast. Ivan screamed in pain as stone crawled along his body, dropping his hoe and falling to his knees. The witch merely chuckled as the family grew still, "You were foolish and now you are nothing but lawn ornaments." she cackled as she walked past their still forms. It was at that moment the witch felt a tap upon her shoulder. She halted her laughter and turned in time to see a stone fist collide with her face. She fell to the ground, Ivan following and pinning her to the ground. He beat her mercilessly, lost in an ocean of rage and regret spraying his body with crimson. The witch in desperation cast another curse upon Ivan, the same curse she used to put an entire town to sleep upon one man. Ivan felt his body growing still and reached for the hoe he stood tall above the witch and delivered a terrible blow to her stomach gutting her instantly. He raised his arms to do it again never wanting to stop but froze. Ivan stood stone still above the witch poised to strike but the blow never coming. The witch lay dying cast one more curse upon Ivan. "I may die here, but my curse will not die with me. As long as my blood persists in this world you and your family will never cease to be stone. I swear this upon my family lineage." That night the town awoke not knowing what had happened. Ivan and his family never came back and the towns overnight fame died along with the rest of the town. In only a few short years it was abandoned.

Three hundred years later...

Deep in the Yekaterina wilderness off a small road long forgotten is a farm overgrown and overrun with impossible plants and creatures. Ivan awoke still standing with his arms raised in the air with his hoe ready to strike. His mind was foggy from his long slumber and his memories were distant just like his dreams. The first thing he saw was the body of the witch, or what was left of it. There was nothing left, but bones clinging to tattered garb giving Ivan his first indication to the time that had been lost. As he let his gaze wander he took in the rest of the farm. He couldn't describe what he saw. The magic Ivan had sown into the land had spread in his absence. The animals reproduced and the plants cross-pollinated creating entirely new constructs, unlike the one he had first forged. They were no longer bound to the one material he had started them out with but were now impossible combinations of materials and alloys he couldn't even fathom. However, this wonder and beauty were all overshadowed by the two shadows at Ivan's back. His parents still stood frozen in horror as statues. This brought a familiar anger back to his blood, but he calmed himself. "I have the power." he thought aloud, "I shall free them from their prison." Ivan reached out to his parents and thought, "Would you become human for me?" as he spoke the words he felt the familiar pull of his strength leaving him, but not as strong as before. He watched as his parents changed before him regaining flesh and blood. He was exhausted from the effort but remained conscious if only barely. His parents look to Ivan for but a moment with looks of confusion and then happiness. The moment did not last. Ivan heard an insidious laughter in his mind and his parents, before even uttering a word, turned back to stone. "No! Noooo!" Ivan feels the rage greater than then ever he reaches out to try again, but pauses. He thinks to himself for a long while, "Would you become stone for...No" he started to think, but stopped himself. "I will find a real cure. You need not be stone creatures like myself." He gazes at the dilapidated farmhouse, "It has been a long time. How long I can not fathom, but wait a little longer for me. We have time." He gazes at the overgrown fields, "We have wealth. I will find a way" I van grabs his hoe only now noticing that the steelhead had turned a dark crimson. The wood was old and rotted and Ivan restored it with a single touch. He hoisted it on his shoulder and walked out into the world.

Ivan spends many sleepless weeks trying to find answers, but with the town gone and civilization far it took him a while before he stumbled upon Zarkov Academy. Ivan figured a place for the scholarly would be able to help him find the answers he sought. The headmaster after hearing his story graciously admitted him into the school and gave him extra lessons to help him catch up with what he had missed. It was at this time he found out that his petrification was connected to the lineage of the witch that cursed him. the curse would not end until all the witches with blood tied to the witch either died or willingly severed their tie to the curse cast upon him. Ivan's hoe which had been coated in the blood of the caster had become enchanted with her blood. It would vibrate when witches are near and glow if that witch was related to his curse. Ivan vowed to seek out these witches and end his curse by any means necessary.

This can only be used on objects and creatures touched by his core power
This can be used to repair damaged items

Third Power: Living Constructs
Living creatures touched by Ivan's power can be changed into living constructs. They lose their flesh in exchange for a normally inanimate substance.
The living construct acts, for the most part, just as it did when alive.
They are stable even if the substance they are made of would normally crumble under its own weight
They can not die from natural causes such as sickness, starvation, asphyxiation, age, etc.
Does not die after losing critical components such as the head or chest cavity.

David Dartagnan

Name: David D'artagnan



Age:16

Grade: First Year Mephisto's Night School

Biography: David had anything but a normal upbringing. His father left his mother before he was even born. This led to his mom struggling to raise him with only one income and no support. David grew up poor living in Rhea's version of the ghetto. While most kids grew up listening to crickets and cicadas he was listening to sirens and helicopter blades. It didn't help much when he got his gift and found it was less than useful. He had trouble understanding what his power could do and it wasn't exactly practical to cut open his fingers all the time and smear them on walls. He couldn't see well during the day either and had to wear sunglasses all the time. His impractical gift and blindness lead to him to getting bullied a lot. It didn't help that he had a smart mouth either as that caused a lot of fights to break out as well. David ended getting so frustrated by his gift that he ended up giving up on it. He learned to get by without it and how to compensate for its drawbacks. He became more aggressive and ruthless to win his fights and learned how to fight blind. His attitude got worse as a result. He started to not care if you were young or old, girl or boy, demon or human. If someone wanted to throw down he would give you his all. It was a caution born of necessity because he lived in a world where people could become monsters at any moment. He believed that if you wanted to win you couldn't let them have that moment.

David didn't want him and his mom to spend their whole lives in the ghetto and ended up dropping out of school at 14 to begin looking for work. He took any job he could get that would believe he was 16. Those jobs never lasted long. He was always eventually found out for being underage and got fired as a result. He bounced around jobs for a while until running into a man named Hughes. Hughes was a bit of a shady businessman who worked for a mining company. He was the manager of an iron mine outside the walls located in the mountains. It was dark and dangerous work, but he believed David was perfect for the job. He was even willing to push the paperwork through when his age came into question. David's abilities did prove useful in the mines. He could see in the dark and wasn't impaired by the low light conditions, his blood couldn't get infected and he was resistant to toxic gasses, and when there was ever a cave in he could make a portal and help himself and others escape. It was the first time in his life that his power had a real and practical use. He made so much money from hazard pay that he was able to move out of the Ghetto and even live in a white collar neighborhood. His Mom never liked that David dropped school, but couldn't fault him for or finding success. It was when David was turning 16 that Hughes approached David with an offer. He wanted David to become his partner and was willing to set him up in a position of co-manager. However, he told David he needed him to finish school in order to get the job. Corporate wasn't going to let a high school drop out run there mine no matter how qualified Hughes claimed he was. David was hesitant to the idea because it would mean he couldn't work as much and would lose out on Money. Hughes told him he spoke to a guy named Mephisto who ran a school, and that he would be willing to hook him up with a night school program and fast-track him to a GED. He just had to attend night classes which are shorter than day class, and he could still work in the day. David reluctantly agreed to the idea but wasn't excited to be going back to school.

Powers:
Core power: Extra-dimensional blood ink. D'artagnan blood is charged with his power and doesn't look or act like blood, but like a mildly luminescent ink. His body still functions normally but is resistant to mundane disease and infection. He has also gained low-light vision and can see in star or moonlight as if it is midday. This also comes with the downside of him being sensitive to sunlight.

This ink, when applied to surfaces, can create portals. The ink is magical and can not be erased by mundane means, often requiring the destruction of the surface it rests on to remove. D'artagnan has a connection to his blood and can sense its presence and shape. If he forgets a portal he can use this to remember and utilize it. These portals can be opened and closed at will, but he can only have 10 open at any one time. That is 5 connected portals or one portal with 9 outputs(see Multiply). The portals are created by drawing shapes on surfaces and can only connect to similar shapes. There is a generous margin for error due to the shapes no having to be perfectly similar and breaks in the lines can be ignored up to a quarter inch and still form a connection.

The blood channeling pen(working title): Commissioned creation from Luigi Vile. This pen was created to give D'artagnan's power more practical application. It is a pen the collects his blood through a point hidden in the clicker, and then deposits it into a reservoir in the top the pen. He can adjust the pen to apply more or less ink depending on the surface he is working with.

Door: He can draw a portal on a surface and press on it to cause another portal to spawn on the other side of it. The second portal once closed does not leave lines behind.

Multiply: D'artagnan can create a portal with multiple outputs and allow the multiplication of people and things. The output and input portal must remain opened or the duplicate will vanish. These duplicates are not expendable either and all experiences are shared among all copies as there is no original. It is the case that if you defeat one you defeat them all. The experiences are not immediately shared but spread to the others once the copies output portal is terminated.

Crisis: Allows D'artagnan to teleport to an area where a crisis is occurring, big or small. The only form of transport that does not require a portal, but is not instantaneous. The ability costs blood from his body to use and can weaken him if abused. D'artagnan has a sense for when a crisis is occurring. He will feel his blood start to bubble and can even see this effect in the pen. He can ignore this call to action, but the bubbling won't stop until the crisis is over.

Relationships:

Luigi Vile: He is a distant friend from his school whom he still owes a big favor for the commission of the pen. He would like to be on better terms with the guy, but he gives off a terminator vibe that is hard to ignore.

Elise and Sho

Name: Elise Miatori de Valois-Saint-Remy



School: First Year St. Laurels (Age 14)

Bio: Elise grew up much the same as any noble living in the countryside. She was treated like a princess and was waited on hand and foot. Her gift came at the late age of eight. She was blessed by a god of darkness and emotion and as part of that blessing had a part of her soul torn from their body and infused into their shadow. Thus, granting it life and purpose. This was not the most pleasant day of her life, but she was happy to have finally been blessed with her gift. The resulting shadow being created by the god was, terrifying, to say the least. However, Elise could feel her connection to the shadow and thus named him Sho, because shadow would have been totally lame. The other side effect of the change was Elise noticed her emotions didn't feel like her own all the time. She quickly realized that she could now passively feel whatever a person near her could and even manipulate those feelings. Though being young she really didn't understand how to leverage this ability. She knew she liked positive feelings and thus would always try to make everyone around her feel happy, unfortunately, this led to her being tired a lot as the staff was often unhappy. She ended up asking how she could make people happier without her power and a staff member casually suggested she be nicer and maybe act cute. Elise took this to heart and thus sought to be kinder and act and dress in a manner deemed adorable. This proved to be a huge boon as she felt the positive vibes around her improve and didn't have to use her power nearly as much to keep the mood going. As this was going on Sho did their own things to help Elise. Sho was always near Elise but tended to wander off hiding in the shadows of objects and people to spy on them. Sho knew Elise only wanted to be happy and in truth, because of their connection, her happiness was their happiness. However, not all positive feelings were necessarily good. Sho did not know much but knew when someone did not have the best intentions for their charge. They would listen to what people say about Elise when they think they are alone and it was sometimes not pleasant or flattering. Sho would punish these people by filling them with feelings of regret and fear whenever they talked poorly of Elise and then inform her of these transgressions. Elise would always listen to Sho but would take his warnings as a sign that she needed to do better. If people thought poorly of her then she needed to improve that image. Sho felt differently, but respected Elise's wish. However, Elise never scolded of forbade Sho for acting on her behalf. This subtle trust told Sho all they needed to continue protecting her in its way. This went on for the next four years with Elise perfecting her persona as the perfect, smart, and adorable girl while Sho kept tabs on everyone and dissuaded anyone who'd dare to hurt them. There had only been a few notable events in that time. The most notable being an employee blowing up from stress. On that day Elise and Sho discovered their third power and an emotionless Doppelganger joined the staff in place of the other.

At the age of twelve, Elise wanted to leave the countryside and finally see the city she had heard so much about. Despite the overwhelming insistence that this was a bad idea and lies about how the people weren't ready for her. Elise used her kindness, and Sho some blackmail, to convince a servant to help them. With a servant who actually knew the way and a shadow servant to assist they made their way to the city. This day didn't go well. The city people had been terrifying. They had all this resentment and bitterness about them. There were some positive feeling, but she wasn't sure those feeling were something a girl should feel from a middle-aged man. Sho scared him away luckily, but that sadly wasn't where it ended. She tried to introduce herself proudly as a noble and present her heritage to several, but they would laugh at her and even get mad if she insisted. She ended up just asking a girl about the nobility while not admitting she was. Nobles must have been a trigger because the girl ended up having quite the long rant about nobles and a lot of it centered around comparing them to bottom feeding fish and fecal matter. The girl thanked Elise for hearing out her rant and ended going shopping with her. This lead to her owning a sweater and finding out it was the best thing ever in the history of everything. It was so comfortable. Elise came back a changed girl, and still wearing the sweater. Her eyes had been opened to all the things she was missing out on that day and she needed, no demanded to learn more.

The next two year Elise used all the influence her and Sho could muster to modernize the manor as much as possible. She asked explicitly for textbooks on modern technology and science. The books made her brain itch, but she needed to know what the world was. Her personal tutors were a big help, except the family history teacher whom she started blowing off. The manor had all the modern tech and magical amenities and the overall response to the change was positive. At least the servants appreciated the quality of life improvements. Her parents and the other nobles didn't seem to happy with the break from tradition. Well, they could shove tradition to the bottom of the see with the other scum suckers. The tradition wasn't working. The people thought the nobility was either a joke or just plain hated them. Finally, Elise's determination came to a head. She had made amazing progress at home, but her reputation and that of the Nobility wasn't going to improve if she spent all her time in the countryside. So, she applied for St. Laurels and thanks to her and Sho's combined study managed to get in despite their age. She hoped by being in and among the people that she could one day prove to them how amazing the nobility could be and defeat the bias leveled against them.

Powers
Core: My Shadow and My Empathy. Elise's shadow or Sho is a living being connected to Elise. They can both feel what the other is feeling at all times and both share the same power. When either of them is near a person they can feel what that person is feeling and manipulate those feelings. Both of them seem to become passively stronger in the presence of different emotions. Elise getting stronger when in the presence of positive emotions and Sho getting stronger in the presence of negative emotions. This passive buff causes a large area around them to become dimmer and any shadows or darkness to become blacker. This makes manipulating darkness easier for them.

First Power: Friends in the Shadows. The darkness will answer the Call of Elise and Sho and when infused with their power will become corporeal and can be moved, stretched and shaped to their will.

Second Power: Veil of Darkness. Elise and more so Sho. Can fuse with darkness and become incorporeal. Sho can do this at any time because they are darkness. While incorporeal their bodies can be manipulated and they can use this to become shadows and move at normally imperceptible speeds allowing them to near perfectly impersonate a shadow.

Third Power. Shadow Soul. If a target is overwhelmed by emotions whether they be overwhelmingly negative or positive. Elise and Sho can infuse those feeling into the target's shadow and then take it from them. The person would feel as if all there emotions were suddenly switched off and there detached shadow would rise from the ground and become a perfect copy of that person, but with a few caveats. The Doppelganger would only have half as much power as the original, it would not have a shadow, and the darkness around them would also become blacker. The first hour of the Doppelganger's life it will be overcome with the emotions that created it. During this hour the target would be without feelings or a shadow. At the end of the hour, or when the doppelganger is destroyed, the target would have their shadow and emotions returned albeit the feelings that formed the shadow would feel spent. Grade: First Year Night School

Biography: David had anything but a normal upbringing. His father left his mother before he was even born. This led to his mom struggling to raise him with only one income and no support. David grew up poor living in Rhea's version of the ghetto. While most kids grew up listening to crickets and cicadas he was listening to sirens and helicopter blades. It didn't help much when he got his gift and found it was less than useful. He had trouble understanding what his power could do and it wasn't exactly practical to cut open his fingers all the time and smear them on walls. He couldn't see well during the day either and had to wear sunglasses all the time. His impractical gift and blindness lead to him to getting bullied a lot. It didn't help that he had a smart mouth either as that caused a lot of fights to break out as well. David ended getting so frustrated by his gift that he ended up giving up on it. He learned to get by without it and how to compensate for its drawbacks. He became more aggressive and ruthless to win his fights and learned how to fight blind. His attitude got worse as a result. He started to not care if you were young or old, girl or boy, demon or human. If someone wanted to throw down he would give you his all. It was a caution born of necessity because he lived in a world where people could become monsters at any moment. He believed that if you wanted to win you couldn't let them have that moment.

David didn't want him and his mom to spend their whole lives in the ghetto and ended up dropping out of school at 14 to begin looking for work. He took any job he could get that would believe he was 16. Those jobs never lasted long. He was always eventually found out for being underage and got fired as a result. He bounced around jobs for a while until running into a man named Hughes. Hughes was a bit of a shady businessman who worked for a mining company. He was the manager of an iron mine outside the walls located in the mountains. It was dark and dangerous work, but he believed David was perfect for the job. He was even willing to push the paperwork through when his age came into question. David's abilities did prove useful in the mines. He could see in the dark and wasn't impaired by the low light conditions, his blood couldn't get infected and he was resistant to toxic gasses, and when there was ever a cave in he could make a portal and help himself and others escape. It was the first time in his life that his power had a real and practical use. He made so much money from hazard pay that he was able to move out of the Ghetto and even live in a white collar neighborhood. His Mom never liked that David dropped school, but couldn't fault him for or finding success. It was when David was turning 16 that Hughes approached David with an offer. He wanted David to become his partner and was willing to set him up in a position of co-manager. However, he told David he needed him to finish school in order to get the job. Corporate wasn't going to let a high school drop out run there mine no matter how qualified Hughes claimed he was. David was hesitant to the idea because it would mean he couldn't work as much and would lose out on Money. Hughes told him he spoke to a guy named Mephisto who ran a school, and that he would be willing to hook him up with a night school program and fast-track him to a GED. He just had to attend night classes which are shorter than day class, and he could still work in the day. David reluctantly agreed to the idea but wasn't excited to be going back to school.

Powers:
Core power: Extra-dimensional blood ink. D'artagnan blood is charged with his power and doesn't look or act like blood, but like a mildly luminescent ink. His body still functions normally but is resistant to mundane disease and infection. He has also gained low-light vision and can see in star or moonlight as if it is midday. This also comes with the downside of him being sensitive to sunlight.

This ink, when applied to surfaces, can create portals. The ink is magical and can not be erased by mundane means, often requiring the destruction of the surface it rests on to remove. D'artagnan has a connection to his blood and can sense its presence and shape. If he forgets a portal he can use this to remember and utilize it. These portals can be opened and closed at will, but he can only have 10 open at any one time. That is 5 connected portals or one portal with 9 outputs(see Multiply). The portals are created by drawing shapes on surfaces and can only connect to similar shapes. There is a generous margin for error due to the shapes no having to be perfectly similar and breaks in the lines can be ignored up to a quarter inch and still form a connection.

The blood channeling pen(working title): Commissioned creation from Luigi Vile. This pen was created to give D'artagnan's power more practical application. It is a pen the collects his blood through a point hidden in the clicker, and then deposits it into a reservoir in the top the pen. He can adjust the pen to apply more or less ink depending on the surface he is working with.

Door: He can draw a portal on a surface and press on it to cause another portal to spawn on the other side of it. The second portal once closed does not leave lines behind.

Multiply: D'artagnan can create a portal with multiple outputs and allow the multiplication of people and things. The output and input portal must remain opened or the duplicate will vanish. These duplicates are not expendable either and all experiences are shared among all copies as there is no original. It is the case that if you defeat one you defeat them all. The experiences are not immediately shared but spread to the others once the copies output portal is terminated.

Crisis: Allows D'artagnan to teleport to an area where a crisis is occurring, big or small. The only form of transport that does not require a portal, but is not instantaneous. The ability costs blood from his body to use and can weaken him if abused. D'artagnan has a sense for when a crisis is occurring. He will feel his blood start to bubble and can even see this effect in the pen. He can ignore this call to action, but the bubbling won't stop until the crisis is over.

Relationships:

Luigi Vile: He is a distant friend from his school whom he still owes a big favor for the commission of the pen. He would like to be on better terms with the guy, but he gives off a terminator vibe that is hard to ignore.

Concept City

This is still rough, but this is the setting for the city I'm working on. Jus the setting though.

In the far east, past the Great Borders of Rhea, sits an immeasurable cluster of snow-capped mountains as far as the eye can see. So large and so vast is this gathering of mountainous terrain that one can't help but wonder about what lies amongst the sparkling, frozen waterfalls and glistening snow. However, not one person ever wonders about what resides inside, at the top of one particular mountain, lest they are seduced into treacherous livelihoods. Its peak shines brighter than the sun at times and can be seen for miles around.

Rumors upon rumors entangle that place. Stories of, "The City of Stars" that dwells at the top of the mountain spread far and wide and are often the popular topic among the people of Rhea, the closest residing kingdom. They say that the first stars of the night can be seen atop the city, but that's just what it says on the pamphlets that are occasionally found at the newsstand or taped to your front door. Even their postcards are adorned with many brightly colored stars.

What a load of bullshit.

My name is Danial D'artagnan and I live in the shittiest city in the world. It's a city known to most on the outside as the city of lights, where your life can be changed for the better or worse. They're not completely wrong. Your life absolutely can be changed, however, it's far more likely to be for the worse.

This city goes by the name of Sodom. It's run by the most pig-headed and gluttonous, pompous and pretentious, rich bastards out there. Correction. It's ruled by the most pig-headed and gluttonous, pompous and pretentious, rich bastards out there, with an iron fist. This city is run, however, by the indebted slaves of the underground, forced to work off their dues after succumbing to the glamor of the surface lights with their many ringing bells and whistles.

That's right. The city of Sodom, famous for its many hotels and casinos, clubs and bars and promises of money and grandeur is run off the backs of swindled debtors. They come to the city, lured by an ad for a few free nights at a nice hotel and some free plays at the casino, pool and buffet included. That first taste can be so tempting.

Then low and behold your deep in your pockets, desperate for a few extra pennies and knee deep in debt to the crown.

Then to top it all off the City of Sodom has a policy that it calls the Gambler's Generosity. For however long you have to you can live in the city and work off your debt doing menial, low paid, jobs like janitorial services or sewer maintenance or God forbid the mines. If you were a woman you could be lucky enough to work as a hostess at a casino or a bar or a fancy restaurant if your willing to show some leg. Only the lucky ones who have yet to experience the dark underbelly of the debtors' society get poached for the military. Now there's a cushy job.

You see? It's all an elaborate ruse. You come for the fun, stay for the debt, so says our "benevolent" rulers, the Four Kings.

On the service of Sodom, lives a year-long population of approximately 100,000 citizens. Of those 100,000 citizens, about 20,000 are of the upper class and royalty; 30,000 or so are the upper middle class; the last 50,000 are middle class. The uncounted debtors of the underground are considered the lower middle class. All are ruled under a strict caste system by the Four Kings of Precious Gems: The Ruby King, The Emerald Kind, the Sapphire King, and the Diamond King.

These Kings, for which I personally like to refer to as the monkeys atop monkey mountain, each are in charge of a specific piece of Sodom. The Ruby King as the General, or The King of Blood as some say, heads the kingdom's military consisting of the majority of the middle class to keep them in line and control the underground while also enforcing the surface law. The Emerald King is the CEO of financing, The King of Debt and a serious piece of shit, spearheading all interactions with business, money, and taxes, Including methods of attaining more debtors. Third down this row of bastard royalty is the Sapphire King, the lawmaker, creator of law and order, judge and jury and an all-around pain in my ass also known as The King of Lies. Together, these three are governed by the final king, The Diamond King. He is the de facto King of Kings and the regulator of the other three. His word is law and the deciding factor should the others disagree. Why the other three kings willfully kiss his ass, no one knows.

All anyone really knows is the kings created Sodom so that they might live the arrogant, all saying lives they believed they deserved. They wanted a City-state for the rich, by the rich and away from the laws that restricted them in Rhea. Sodom was to be their sweet haven of wealth and prosperity and for the most part, that goal has been realized. The Four Kings have surrounded themselves in the high life of money and jewels and women; a Kingdom of Sin atop a mountain of gold and underneath the fruits of our labor. The underground.

As I read I have noticed some characters don't have character sheets anymore. which I understand that people leave they withdraw characters. it's just unfortunate that even though they are retired they couldn't archive the character for people like me trying to catch up.
