Rai was listening attentively to the lecture. Guren mentioned using demon infused weapons to kill vampires, but something about that didn't quite sit right with Rai. Wait, you have to be strong enough to fight the demon? Is my weapon going to try and kill me in my sleep if I'm weak? Rai thought to himself. Jean and Guren had immediately started going at it the moment Guren opened his mouth, and Rai was enjoying every second of it. Jean was pretty straight to the point, Rai agreed with basically everything he said, they were definitely on the same page when it came to the vampires and their desire to get out there. Even though he wanted to ignore it, Rai felt as if he needed to know more about this whole demon thing, so he spoke up. "Hey professor, what exactly happens if you're not strong enough to fight the demon?" It was probably a stupid question but Rai really didn't care if the answer was embarrassingly obvious, he needed to know.

Rai looked back up at Jean, gone was the chilling smile and the generally unnerving atmosphere, replaced by what seemed like a genuine sentiment. This guy is definitely something else, still he seems pretty friendly Rai thought to himself. "A fresh start eh?" Rai said before letting out a slight chuckle and reaching for Jean's outstretched arm "Sounds good by me, I'm Rai. Pleasure to meet you." Rai said as he shook Jean's hand. On the inside, Rai was extremely relieved, he wanted nothing less than to piss off one of the other cadets. Instead of doing that though, he somehow managed to pull off the complete opposite. All in all though, Rai thought of Jean as a relatively good guy, even if he was a little off at first.

As if on cue Guren finally showed up, hopefully he was going to impart some knowledge on an actually useful subject. Rai sat down and prepared to take notes, he wasn't about to let Guren think he wasn't even trying

"My goal?" Rai's face took on a serious expression quite quickly. "The vampires, Those parasites killed a bunch of people I really cared about." Rai winced a bit as he said this, these memories were painful but they were still his reason to keep going. Jean's stare was certainly unnerving, Rai wasn't sure if this guy was honestly curious or planning to cut him open."I got out of a really bad situation... and someone else paid the price. I'm here to learn how to kill these freaks so I can get revenge on the fangs. Other than that I want to make sure that what happened to me doesn't have to happen to other people" Rai said as he shifted in his seat before continuing. " Nobody should have to die for someone else's freedom, It just isn't right." Rai said solemnly.

Rai jumped slightly as the other boy whispered to him, he wouldn't admit it but Rai was a bit off-guard at the moment. He looked over to the boy who had just introduced himself as Jean and responded "Rai Hyakuya." Might not be a bad idea to get on this guys good side, only other cadet I know is Ellie after all. Rai thought to himself, he hoped that he hadn't pissed anyone off yet, last thing he needed was people gunning for him right out the gate.
