"Considering the Imperials and Sith are likely trying to replenish their ranks by taking people by force, if what I intervened in is anything to go by..." Cronic said, placing one hand on his chin in thought. "There are a few notorious Sith whom bodies were never found for, after all. My nemesis being one of them." Cronic said, turning to look at Orim. "Sith activity has been quiet for some time now, so I can't help but feel a sense of unease. I hope the boy is as good as you say, because we might get in over our heads, and the hunter becomes the hunted." Cronic said, glancing over to Oram partway through the sentence. "Though I'm sure Aria wouldn't mind a chance to stretch her legs."
"Yes, yes, I get it." An all too familiar voice to Aria's ears said from down the hall. Cronic was proceeding slowly towards the med bay. "But what else was I supposed to do? Leaving those imperial scouts to make off with innocent civilians to do god knows what with while the nearby army mobilized to intercept? _They would have been GONE by the time they got there!_ I couldn't just sit by and let that happen!" Cronic said as he stepped into Aria's view, holding a holocommunicator. From the sounds of the person on the other end, it was more of an argument than a report. "...Ugh. And this is why we don't get along. Just be glad one of the scouts was still alive for questioning." Cronic said, rolling his eyes. "Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go check up on Aria. Good day." Cronic said, ending the comm link. "I can see now why Master Yai gets fed up with the council."
"Honest gold for honest work. Now we're involved in things that people would find hard to believe. Prior to this, I wouldn't have considered fighting a goddamn dragon. But since we know it's doable, I could make this a full time job. Who knows how valuable the scales and bones of such a powerful beast could be?" Cronic said, scratching his chin in thought of a literal mountain of Septims before snapping back to reality. "Every day's a struggle to see tomorrow. Doubly so in these trying times." Cronic said, letting out a sigh, lying down upon the bedroll. "We'll come out stronger for the trials in front of us, or we won't come out at all." Cronic said, propping his head up on his hands as he stared at the ceiling. "But there's _no way_ in hell we'll get through this like we always do when we're falling down tired."
"Yeouch. And I thought I had it rough. But at least you knew your mother. More than I ever got..." Cronic said, before clearing his throat. "Earliest memories was of an orphanage in Riften. Don't know how I ended up there other than I was left at the doorstep. Spent about 15 or so years there wondering if I would ever be adopted. Never was. Age 16, I just up and left, taking that Giant bow with me. From what I was told when I was actually old enough to understand it, that Bow was left there at the doorstep with me. I feel like it's the only clue to who my parents are, but any attempts to dig further only end with more questions and no answers. After I left the orphanage, I wandered Tamriel for... 8 years now, I think? I was seeing what the world had to offer, as well as learn how to use a sword, a bow, magic, and the art of smithing. Needless to say I've seen a lot of the worst Tamriel harbours. But some of the good too." Cronic said, scratching the side of his head when he was thinking of how long he's been wandering."
Name: Crobalt Nicholas "Cronic" Crystalis Race: Human Gender: Male Age: 34 Appearance: Has shoulder length brown hair, blue eyes, moderate tone white skin. Wears blue robes with some armour plates around the shoulders and upper torso on the front and back, black trousers, with armoured boots around his feet and additional armour around his forearms, going from his elbows and stopping shy of his wrists, topped off with fingerless gloves. Faction: Jedi Rank/Role: Jedi Knight Weapons: Twin yellow bladed lightsabers, the "Hilt" of the lightsabers looking like finely cut crystals made of metal in design. Also carries a sniper rifle, modified underneath the barrel to be able to use one of his Lightsabers as a bayonet, and a few thermal detonators. Equipment/Items: Some field medical supplies, a personalized speeder, and some replacement lightsaber parts. Backstory: A veteran Jedi knight with a typically level headed disposition. Unlike most Jedi, however, Cronic can be a little bit of a loose cannon at times, courtesy of one of his fellow Jedi he fought along side's personality rubbing off on him a little. This left him a with a reputation as a risk taker, and the fact he isn't entirely an emotionless brick wall is little wonder he's stuck as a Jedi Knight. But when the situation calls for a knight who can think outside the box of a standard Jedi, and be less predictable as a result, He's your man.
"I'm inclined to agree with you there." Cronic yawned, his hand instinctively covering his mouth as he did so. "...Well, here's hoping we survive the night... Though just in case one of us doesn't make it, can't hurt to swap the stories of our lives up until we first met... Might be the only chance we get. Wouldn't be surprised if I wound up waking up in Sovngarde or any other form of the afterlife." Cronic said, sitting down atop the bedroll, legs crossed.
"...More people than we can count on one hand, courtesy of some of our past jobs. We can't please everyone, after all. And the people we do piss off, someone is bound to have enough coin to foot the Brotherhood's bill. But whoever sent the Brotherhood after us is irrelevant at this point. Our main concern should be staying alive long enough to get them off our backs, one way or another. I'd say to raid their hideout, but I don't even know where that is... Or if they even HAVE one." Cronic said, setting out a bedroll beside one of the walls. "...And we don't really have the luxury of searching at our own pace at the moment."
Cronic however, opted to scout out the area some more. Namely based on the angle of the arrow in the now charred black husk of the Vampire, looking for something, anything to tip him off as to where the Assassin could be lurking. Deducing that the shot came from atop the archway to the gildergreen, the Assassin in question must be a hell of a shot to score a hit from that distance, as well as in current lighting conditions. "...I fear the Dark Brotherhood're going to be hunting us down for some time now. This bodes ill, alright." Cronic said, informing a nearby guard of what had happened. "Cultists, Dragons, Vampires, Assassins... We're just pissing off everyone and anyone now."
"Bored now. Burning him alive." The assassin said to himself, as he let the arrow fly at the Vampire.

Naturally, neither Cronic nor Aria would be able to react in time when the arrow struck the vampire and set him ablaze in seconds.

"What the hell!?" Cronic said, looking around in haste. When his gaze set upon the place where the Assassin had been stood mere moments ago, the Assassin himself was gone as though he'd never been there to begin with.

"...I get the feeling that arrow may have been meant for us."
"...And why should we trust you? You've given us no reason to do so, and plenty of reasons to ship what's left of you back to this "Harkon" guy." Cronic said, looking down at the Vampire with a piercing gaze.

"You have ten seconds to convince me before you find yourself short an arm."
Unbeknownst to both the Odd Jobs and the vampire, however, atop the gateway leading to the gildergreen, a cloaked figure clad in what looked to be armour daedric in origin beneath the cloak was crouched down, a similarly designed mask covering his face. He wrapped some cloth around an arrowhead, doused it in oil and lit it on fire with a small fire spell. Pulling a bow off his back, he held the bow in a right handed grip, using his left hand to hold the arrow in place as he drew back the string, taking aim at Aria, but biding his time before he took the shot.
