E3 - Thoughts?

It boggles me as to why so many people have mild dislike for E3. As Shon had also said, gaming is a guilty pleasure of mine and I have a deep love for it. As such, I watch E3 every year and tend to get extremely excited over it, since it's only once a year. As far as press conferences go, I personally enjoyed Ubisoft's presentation the most.

As far as games go, I'm incredibly psyched to see more of Bloodborne, Valiant Hearts and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. True to my franchise of choice, I'm also looking forward to Tales of Xillia 2 (the hype is so real from me).

As far as Unity goes, I'm willing to give it a chance because I think it may open as a great new possibility for cooperative play. I'm with Kidd, disappointed with the lack of female assassins, but it won't become a determining factor for me to not buy it (but please? Give us a badass female assassin!). I'm hoping they don't butcher the history behind it because I'm loving the idea of a setting during The French Revolution, quite personally.

Heat has taken the state of Colorado by storm. It is now mid-June and the school districts are now on vacation in the sleepy town of Bedford. As a result, more and more students have begun to tune into the daily Soul Train radio program which runs on the local classic rock station between the hours of one to five AM. Though insomnia is a trend now, it is not one during the school year. And that's where we find our heroes and heroines.

Whether you're a middle school or high school student, a college student or a grown adult, you've been part of the program for a majority of the year . . the past couple of years, even. Taking up a fake alias, you join in a talk-show along side of various other anonymous users from around your town until you are able to counter your night terrors and ultimately succumb to sleep.

Everyone on the Soul Train has secrets.

. . or so the rumor goes.

And it's very much the truth. Everyone on the Soul Train has a secret of their own, a reason for their night terrors. A story to tell and a fear to overcome and not even that – a secret life?

Ratings have never been higher for the Soul Train. And that's because the regulars have begun to take up arms . . . against their own nightmares?

Oh, did we forget to mention that portion? I suppose so!

As it is so, the ratings for Soul Train have never been higher! As of recent, the night terrors have been creating a much more powerful influence over the town. The physical manifestations of people's night terrors begun to rabidly roam the streets at night while some are in deep REM state. Terrorizing and roaming about, they cause much chaos for the town and the only ones to strike them down? A series of masked, anonymous users of the Soul Train, armed to the core and ready to protect what they care about.

The only secret is your own . . and your identity.

Nobody knows who you are besides yourself. Nobody else who participates in Soul Train or listens to it has a clue as to who you are. You are a hero of the night and the only thing that people know you by is your . . . alias?

Of course, you're not completely hidden from secrecy. Your heroics are widely acknowledged by members of Bedford, though some may only treat you and the others are "town rumors" or "town lore". Word hasn't gotten outside of Bedford quite yet, but there's a belief that if the nightmares spread, then more heroes will rise. But nobody acknowledges your actions more than your listeners.

Every night, Soul Train is bombarded by listeners, asking for advice or asking questions to their idols, their heroes. Some members of Soul Train become so involved in this activity that they've begun to carry handheld radios in order to keep up with their fans! Though your tactics, weapons, weaponry and anything else will vary, depending on your personal tastes. Be wary though – you might just give yourself away!

. . The night is alive. And you're one of the first people to get a taste of it.

Nightmares

Nightmares

Night terrors are appropriately nicknamed "Nightmares". They are commonly described as the physical manifestation of one's deepest, darkest conscience, secret or/and fear. As far as their "anatomy" goes they vary in their physical attributes and "abilities". Nightmares might have speech and others may not, it varies. Truly, the only traits that Nightmares have in common is their easily see-able blackish-purple aura and the bone-chilling sense that you will get while being around them. There is no actual way to "kill" a Nightmare, so you'll likely have to improvise, explore and experiment while on the field. But don't worry, you'll have other members of Soul Train at your side, a trusty weapon and the fact that you, too, are a survivor.

Rules

• As far as the "nobody knows your identity" goes, there will be exceptions to this rule: best friends, siblings, parents, partners, etc. Play around with that!


• Everyone MUST have a secret or a reason for their terrors – but, do not reveal in the CS, flesh it out during the Roleplay!


• You can have as many characters are you can handle.


• Romance is allowed to appear, but anything past the "fluffy stage" has to be taken to PMs.


• You'll get a warning if you start drama outside of the Roleplay, after that, you'll be kicked from the Roleplay.


• Not a rule, but I'd really love to see some proper grammar and character development here. Take your time when writing a response.


• If you have any questions, PM me or ask here in the thread, I will get back to you as soon as possible.


• Only one warning for godmodding, power-playing or meta-gaming.


• Do not kill another player's character without their permission. It is okay to attack their character, but not kill them.


• As a follow-up to the two previous rules: do not control another's character without their consent.


• Listen to the Co-Mods, they have the same powers that I do.


• Do not speed-posting. There will not be a posting order, but I don't want two pages between just two people, alright?

I'm Raven," he blinked for a moment, still in shock. "How long have you all been awake?"

The screen flashed with a mixture of cheesy special and sound effects. Aside from that and the slight purring of a cat, the apartment was quiet and dark. It was sometime in the morning, but the blinds were shut and it was Aden's day off. And he wasn't actually supposed to be at the apartment yet. . . He was supposed to move in with her.

He leaned back and ran a hand over the coat of the cat. A man speaking in Japanese and then an image of King Ghidorah flashed across the screen. How long had he wasted watching Godzilla movies? All night?

He looked at the clock, not actually able to read it. "I have time for one more movie, I think."

Species
Babalú-Ayé - A spirit of the Earth with an association with healing and infectious disease. He originated in West Africa and is popular among the Yorube, Ewe and Fon people.

Personality
A very serious individual who may rub off as narcissistic and an egomaniac; this is often due to his traditional view that people should honor him and give him gratitude when he takes a life. While this is true, Aden knows his place and does not view himself higher than any deity, however, he has the tendency to look down on other supernatural beings and Humans. This does not mean that he hates them, however, he has admitted to sharing a sense of compassion and interest in their activities in them. He often enjoys their culture and has even taken a name from one of his favorite people, the Yoruba. He becomes fiercely upset and overly protective when Humans and their supernatural counterparts are threatened. Otherwise, his personality can be seen as dull, serious, but very strangely and quite often seen as laid-back. As a spirit, it is only natural for him to not play favorites, however, this is not always the case.

Biography
Doesn't have much of a history. An active spirit-like deity that was named and worshiped in West Africa. Recently began to move around due to his lack of believers as of late.

Powers
Being a spirit, Aden has limited powers:

- Regeneration: Aden is not immortal and he does not have very good endurance, either. What he does have, however, is the ability to regenerate health, unless he is hit in a specific weak spot. His ability to regenerate is not limited to himself, however. He may bestow healing onto others, namely his worshipers if they ask for it enough and a deity does not disagree with him. If he gets attached to an individual, he may also choose to heal them as well.

- Disease Immunity: It is true that Aden CAN be affected by other Human-like ailments. He can be burned in a fire or from acid, can be attacked by a wild animal or quite possibly suffer from heartbreak. However, he has resistance from disease and cannot be affected by it with the exception of radiance sickness since it does not follow the usual laws of diseases.

- Infection: Aden has the ability to spread and create diseases. He can create small diseases such as the common cold or large ones such as AIDS. He is rarely able to create level four diseases such as Ebola and Lassa. He cannot go crazy with these abilities, considering he is intended to create balance and a pandemic that will wipe out all of the human and supernatural population isn't exactly in his best interest.

Deities, sirens, fire, dogs and World War I.
